'''Route 19''' is a predominantly north-south [[water route]] in southern central [[Kanto]]. Its northern terminus is at [[Fuchsia City]]. Its south end is at {{rt|20|Kanto}} east of the [[Seafoam Islands]].

Heading south from Fuchsia, Route 19 becomes a {{wp|dual carriageway}}, as a series of ledges and a rock wall separate the route into a southbound-only west half and a dual-direction east half. After three ledges, the rock wall ends and the route is reunited on an unnamed beach. In [[Generation I]] and [[Generation III]], two [[Swimmer]]s patrol the beach for trainers to battle. Just south of the trainers is the Route 19 signpost, located on the shore of the ocean.

Route 19 turns west at its southern terminus, becoming Route 20.

Each Generation has added their own signature touch to Route 19, each time maintaining the essence of the route.

===Generation I===

In {{game|Yellow}}, a house was placed on the beach below Fuchsia. Inside, a surfer named "Dude" allows trainers to partake in a mini-game entitled [[Pikachu's Beach]] if the trainer has a {{m|Surf}}ing {{p|Pikachu}}. The surfer, as well as the Surfing Pikachu premise, mirrors that of ''[[EP067|The Pi-Kahuna]]''.

When trainers first approach Route 19 from the eastern terminus, the land portion of the route is under construction for renovations. After entering Route 19 from the west, the construction will be completed.

Lastly, a guard house was added between Fuchsia and the beach.

===Generation IV===

The route was completely re-styled in Generation IV. The row of rocks lining the series of cliffs has been removed, and many rocks have been strewn around the beach and the sea. The beach itself is also much thinner, and the fences/rocks are removed. An island is added in the southeast corner. Like in Gold and Silver, there is a gatehouse splitting the route from Fuchsia City.

 

Route 19 debuted in ''[[PS024|What a Dragonite]]'' and in ''[[PS025|You Know.. Articuno]]'' in the {{chap|Red, Green & Blue}}, where {{adv|Red}} was looking for the [[HM]] {{m|Surf}} using his [[Item Finder]] with his [[Poli|Poliwrath]] and his {{p|Krabby}} so he could get over to the [[Seafoam Islands]]. There is a [[Pokémon Center]] nearby which Red contacted [[Professor Oak]] about the Hm's. Red later found the HM but it was guarded by a {{p|Dragonite}}. Red then thought out a plan and got it out of the water and battled Red's [[Lax (Adventures)|Snorlax]] but they were to heavy and the rocks broke damaging the HM and making Red drown.

 

Before Red blacked out, he thought he saw a [[Misty|mermaid]], but when he woke up, he had been saved by Misty and her {{p|Starmie}} and her [[Gyara|Gyarados]].
