Carbink (Japanese: メレシー Mereshī) is a dual-type Pokémon.
Carbink (Japanese: メレシー Melecie) is a dual-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VI.

It is currently unknown if it evolves into or from another Pokémon.
It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon, although it is considered a relative of Diancie.

Biology
Carbink is a gray, rock-like Pokémon with a conical body. Its body has light blue crystals of various shapes and sizes embedded in it. A white, fluffy collar surrounds its small head. It uses this soft mane to polish the gems of other Carbink. It has bright blue eyes, a light blue crystal on top of its head, and flat diamond-shaped ears. In some media depictions, the fluffy collar, ears, and pattern of the blue crystals on the Carbink’s body can differ based on size and crystal pattern. Due to its small stature, it ties with Minior and Dwebble as the shortest Rock.

In the anime
Carbink is created from high temperatures and pressures underground and is occasionally found during cave excavations. It is known to compare its hard body with those of Geodude and Roggenrola. Following birth, it can sleep for millions of years. It is preyed upon by Sableye, and Gabite also likes to capture it. Carbink defends itself by shooting high-energy beams from the gem on its head. Rarely, Carbink will undergo a strange mutation and transform into Diancie. It is said that a pack of Carbink lives deep underground with their queen in a jeweled kingdom. Carbink can be found on occasion during the excavation of caves.

Trivia
Trivia
* Carbink shares the same category name as Diancie. They are both known as the Jewel Pokémon.
* Carbink is tied with Diancie for the highest base Defense stat of all Fairy Pokémon.
* Excluding Legendary and Mythical Pokémon, Carbink is the only gender unknown Pokémon introduced in Generation VI.
* Carbink is the only Rock Pokémon in the Fairy.
* Carbink is transferrable into Scarlet and Violet's original release despite not being a first partner, Legendary, Mythical, in the Paldea Pokédex, or having an evolutionary relative in the Paldea Pokédex<!--Perrserker (Meowth), Quagsire (Wooper), Wyrdeer (Stantler), Kleavor (Scyther), Ursaluna (Ursaring), Basculegion (Basculin), Sneasler (Sneasel), Overqwil (Qwilfish)-->. However, it is strongly linked with the Mythical Pokémon Diancie, and was later included in the Kitakami Pokédex.
* Despite being catchable in the Area Zero Underdepths, Carbink does not appear in the Paldea Pokédex or the Blueberry Pokédex.

Origin
Origin
Carbink could be based on the Carbuncle (legendary creature), a mythical fairy-like creature that was rumored to be able to emit light and have gemstones growing out of its body. It physically resembles ores, rocks that contains minerals with important elements that are valued for a high price.

Name origin
Name origin
Carbink may be a combination of carbuncle (referring to Carbuncle (legendary creature) and Carbuncle (gemstone)), carbon (element diamonds are composed of), Carat (mass), and tink (to tinkle).
Melecie may be a combination of melée (small cut diamonds), 珍しい mezurashii (rare), and 石 ishi (stone). Melecie and Diancie share the same ending sound.
