'''Casey''' (Japanese: '''ナナコ''' ''Nanako'') is a recurring character who appeared in the [[Pokémon anime]]. She is a [[Pokémon Trainer]] from [[New Bark Town]]. She first appeared in ''[[EP118|The Double Trouble Header]]''.

 

Casey was a novice {{pkmn|Trainer}}, and the day she left to start her [[Pokémon journey]], she received enormous support from her family, who from now on would have one more thing to cheer for besides the Electabuzz team.

====[[Original series]]====

Casey debuted in ''[[EP118|The Double Trouble Header]]'', where {{Ash}}, {{an|Misty}}, and {{an|Brock}} witnessed her catching a {{p|Rattata}}. Soon after, Casey battled Ash. Despite her overconfidence, she was easily defeated by Ash, who only used his {{AP|Charizard}}. Afterwards, Casey was tricked by {{TRT}} into believing that Ash had cheated, prompting her to face him again, this time battling his {{AP|Pikachu}} with her {{TP|Casey|Chikorita}}. However, the battle was interrupted by Team Rocket, who tried to capture Chikorita and Pikachu. In the end, Ash and Casey united to defeat Team Rocket and became friends afterwards.

In ''[[HS11|A Date With Delcatty]]'', she visited [[Cerulean City]] in the [[Kanto]] region to watch a baseball game with the Starmie team against the Electabuzz team. She met up with Misty and both united to defeat [[Butch]] and [[Cassidy]] who were trying to steal a {{p|Delcatty}} belonging to [[Georgio]].

Her final appearance was in ''[[HS17|Those Darn Electabuzz!]]'', where she helped her idol [[Corey Demario]] regain his confidence and his {{p|Charizard}}, Don, regain his abilities to battle and fly.

She and her family are fans of the {{p|Electabuzz}} [[baseball]] team, and she loves {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} with the team's colors, yellow with black stripes. She started her {{pkmn|journey}} with a {{TP|Casey|Chikorita}}, which she received from [[Professor Elm]].

Casey has been compared to {{Ash}} in his early days of [[Pokémon training]]. However, they have different styles of training, and different tastes in Pokémon.

===Pokémon===

Casey's Pokémon initially reflects her beginnings as a novice {{pkmn|Trainer}}, where she {{pkmn2|caught}} some weaker Pokémon like {{p|Pidgey}} and {{p|Rattata}}. Although her main goal is to catch Pokémon themed after her favorite baseball team, Casey only began this goal when she received a {{TP|Casey|Beedrill}} from {{Ash}}.  

In her other appearances during the anime, Casey has a more powerful team, with her {{p|Chikorita}} fully evolved and an {{p|Elekid}} in her roster. Casey has a tendency to teach her Pokémon how to dance the Electabuzz baseball team's anthem, and they usually accompany her when she tries to sing the song.

|desc=Casey's {{p|Pidgey}} was seen for the first time in Casey's {{pkmn|battle}} with {{Ash}} during her debut appearance. It was easily defeated by [[Ash's Charizard]]. It was also later used to battle against {{TRT}}.

It is likely that Pidgey, like Rattata, was chosen as a reflection of Casey being a beginning Trainer at the time. While Meganium, Beedrill, and Elekid are often seen out of their {{i|Poké Ball}}s, Pidgey has not been heard of since Casey's debut episode.

It reappeared in a flashback in ''[[EP126|The Chikorita Rescue]]''.
