Smokescreen lowers the target's {{stat|accuracy}} stat by one stage.

In the Generation I and II [[core series]] games, when an in-game opponent outside of the {{gdis|Battle Tower|II}} uses Smokescreen, the move has a 25% chance to fail.

 

If powered up by a [[Normalium Z]] into Z-Smokescreen, the user's {{stat|Evasion|evasiveness}} is raised by one stage.

In the [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team|Rescue Team]], [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness|Explorers]] and [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (WiiWare)|Adventure Sqaud]] series, Smokescreen inflicts the [[Status condition (Mystery Dungeon)#Accuracy-related status conditions|Whiffer]] status condition on the enemy. Under the Whiffer status, the opposing Pokémon will always miss with any attack; even moves like {{m|Aerial Ace}} will miss, although the regular attack will still hit if the user has the Sure-Hit Attacker [[IQ]] skill. This move is affected by {{m|Magic Coat}}.

 

 

In {{g|Rumble Rush}}, all [[status move]]s including Smokescreen could only be used by opposing Pokémon and could not be obtained on any caught Pokémon. Smokescreen could be seen as a move used by Boss {{p|Charmeleon}}.

 

 

In Pokémon UNITE, Smokescreen is {{p|Greninja}}'s second move. It is obtained by evolving into {{p|Frogadier}} at level 5 and upgrading {{m|Substitute}} into it instead of {{m|Double Team}}. The user becomes invisible, leaving behind a cloud of smoke while dashing and gaining bonus movement speed. The user's next attack is boosted and additionally deals bonus damage. The user is unstoppable while dashing. At level 13, this also increases the user's Attack by 20% for a short while after using.
