Shouldn't there be a description for how it works in Mystery Dungeon?--Darknesslover5000 (talk) 19:32, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Effect on AI trainers
Does a Pokémon with Illusion actually trick the AI? Or does the AI cheat and still know that it's, say, a Zorua even though the Illusion wasn't broken yet? This could easily be tested. Put a pure Fighting or Poison type Pokémon (like Machop) in the last spot in your party, put a slow Zorua (just to make sure that the AI Pokémon goes first) in the first spot and go up against a trainer with a Pokémon that has Psychic attacks, but not solely Psychic attacks.<br>
If the AI doesn't cheat, it would use a Psychic move which is super effective against Machop, the Pokémon that Zorua appears to be. If the AI does cheat, it would never use Psychic attacks because those do no damage to Zorua. I can't test this because I don't own the game, but I feel like that's vital information that is sadly missing from this article. :FWIW, it won't be notable if the AI is indeed "fooled" by Illusion. That should be expected. Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:41, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
::Maybe not, but what would be notable is how the AI would then react after that. If it tries to hit what it thinks is a Machop with a super-effective move and that Machop is inexplicably immune against that move, would it then blindly continue using that move, despite its ineffectiveness? Or would it get the hint that maybe things are not as they seem and switch to a different move? Both cases seem notable to me, but trainer AI is generally barely documented on this wiki, so that might be just me. :::You're right, that gets into whether we should talk about AI behavior at all, or where. And as far as this page goes, things are complicated by the fact that there is not one universal AI. Tiddlywinks (talk) 18:58, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
Usage by NPC
I thought I should point out that in the battle with Sidney, when he is about to send out Zoroark, the message "Elite Four Sydney is about to send in <Pokémon>. Will you switch your Pokémon?" uses the name of the Pokémon it's disguised as (assuming "Switch" is enabled). --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 04:28, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
Learning A Move
In Pokémon Sun and Moon, when a Pokémon with Illusion attempts to learn a new move (at least while not in the lead spot in battle, I have not tested any other way, this was something I came across while training a Zorua with another Pokémon in the last spot on my team while battling with yet another Pokémon) it seems to use the name of the Pokémon in the last slot of the party, such as"<Pokémon in the last slot> wants to learn <Move>". Seems notable.TraxScrip813 (talk) 22:10, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
Dynamax and Gigantamax
I've tested:
A) Whether or not Zoroark can Dynamax and become the Pokémon it is disguised as.
B) Whether or not Zoroark is able to Gigantamax when disguised as a Pokémon that can.
C) Whether or not Zoroark can Dynamax if transformed into Zacian, Zamazenta, or Eternatus.
I used Zoroark in the front and a Gigantamax-capable Flapple as the back pokemon.
Zoroark was able to Dynamax as Flapple, but it did not become Gigantamax Flapple.
Zoroark was not able to Dynamax as Zacian, Zamazenta, or Eternatus.
Therefore,
"If a Pokémon transforms into a Dynamax Pokémon, it will successfully transform but not become Dynamaxed. Transformed Pokémon can Dynamax, unless they are transformed into Zacian, Zamazenta, or Eternatus. Transform does not copy the Gigantamax Factor, so even if a Pokémon transforms into a Pokémon that can Gigantamax, the transformed Pokémon will be able to Dynamax but not Gigantamax. If the target is Eternamax Eternatus, the user transforms into the regular version of Eternatus."
Perhaps we can use this quote for the ability page as well.
Interaction with Mega Evolution
If a Pokemon under an Illusion Mega Evolves, the dialogue will say <disguised name> Mega Evolved into Mega <disguised species' name>, using the same model for both (even if disguised as a Pokemon that can Mega Evolve). However, this series of events is only possible via hacking - should this interaction be noted on this page, or is it excluded because it is impossible to see in normal gameplay? ==Kieran==
Normally, during the Champion battle with Kieran in Indigo Disk, sending Ogerpon out will lead to a unique dialog from him. Having a Zorua/Zoroark sent out disguised as Ogerpon won't trigger the dialog, as I tested with my battle with him. :Indeed it does. I'm just not fully certain if it's trivia, so I didn't add it. ¿¡Unowninator?! (talk) 04:39, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
