==In the anime==

In ''[[EP099|The Mandarin Island Miss Match]]'', Lorelei uses Cloyster against numerous opponents in a tournament and defeats them all. Eventually, {{Ash}} challenges her to a battle. They agree to use one Pokémon each, and Lorelei uses Cloyster against {{TP|Ash|Pikachu}}. Pikachu uses a {{m|Thunderbolt}}, but Cloyster {{m|Withdraw}}s into its shell and the attack hits it harmlessly. Pikachu then uses {{m|Agility}}, but Cloyster uses {{m|Reflect}} and Pikachu gets thrown backwards. After getting back on its feet, Pikachu uses {{m|Thunder}} which hits Cloyster, who starts to {{m|Rage|glow red}}. Pikachu tries to use {{m|Quick Attack}}, but is defeated by an {{m|Aurora Beam}}-{{m|Take Down}} combo, causing Ash to lose.

==In the manga==

In the manga, Lorelei's Cloyster is one of her main Pokémon. In ''[[PS045|Cloystered]]'', it appeared as Lorelei's main Pokémon. With her Dewgong, Cloyster traps [[Yellow (Special)|Yellow]] and [[Bill]] in a cave by collapsing the entrance with a {{m|Spike Cannon}}. When Yellow tries to escape, Cloyster sends an {{m|Ice Beam}}-powered Spike Cannon which stops them. Eventually, they do escape and Yellow attacks with {{p|Pikachu}}, it uses {{m|Thunderbolt}} and Lorelei tells Cloyster to {{m|Withdraw}} into its shell and Pikachu's Thunderbolt bounces off harmlessly.

After a long chase, Lorelei gets Cloyster to {{m|Aurora Beam}} Yellow and Bill, {{status|Freeze|freezing}} them in place. Then Lorelei tries to extract information from Yellow by getting Cloyster to bombard them with its {{m|Supersonic}}, a {{p|Rattata}} comes and rescues them at the last minute.

In ''[[PS073|Valiant Venomoth]]'', Lorelei appears again, this time riding in her Cloyster, to battle [[Blue (Special)|Blue]] and [[Sabrina]]. She uses Voodoo dolls made from her {{p|Jynx}} to freeze their hands together. Cloyster then uses {{m|Ice Beam}} on them and it barely misses them. Blue sends out {{p|Nidorina}} and Sabrina uses {{p|Venomoth}}. Nidorina {{m|Take Down|charges}} at Cloyster and Venomoth uses {{m|Sleep Powder}}. Cloyster uses {{m|Blizzard}} to blow the Sleep Powder into Nidorina's face which puts her to sleep. Venomoth charges again and again with Cloyster Withdrawing each time so that all the attacks don't hit. Eventually Cloyster falls over, fainted, Venomoth had been using {{m|Leech Life}} that whole time.

Cloyster also makes a small appearance getting defeated by a {{p|Blastoise}}'s {{m|Hydro Pump}} in ''[[PS084|Clefabulous Clefable]]''.
