Goneff (Japanese: 怪盗ゴローニャ Mysterious Thief Golonya) is a character of the day who appeared in The Wayward Wobbuffet. He is a master thief who robs banks, leaving nothing behind.

When Jessie's Wobbuffet accidentally jumped on his truck, it was holding the key to a Poké Pod containg Ash's Pikachu, after an attempt to steal him by TRT went wrong. Soon after, Goneff took Wobbuffet away and Ash, ashfr and Officer Jenny raced to track down Wobbuffet and retrieve the key to free Pikachu. In the process, Goneff was arrested.
During a race to retrieve the key around Jessie's neck, which was needed to release Ash's Pikachu from the indestructible PokéPod, Wobbuffet accidentally jumped onto Goneff's escape truck during an ongoing police pursuit. Goneff used the windscreen wipers to knock Wobbuffet off the truck, but this failed. He soon found himself surrounded by Officer Jenny and her fellow officers. Goneff tried to escape with his backup Golem hot-air balloon, but Wobbuffet accidentally knocked him out of it and into the hands of the police.

Later, Goneff escaped this time on a stolen police motorcycle. However, Wobbuffet landed in the sidecar following a freak speedboat crash. Goneff decided to take Wobbuffet hostage, tying him with rope and holing him up in a nearby abandoned building. After Goneff was surrounded by the police, Team Rocket tried to make a deal with him, offering their escape tunnel in exchange for Wobbuffet. However, he refused and used Golem to attack the trio and later Ash's Totodile when he also confronted him. Totodile hid behind Wobbuffet to avoid Golem's Tackle, prompting Wobbuffet to use Counter to protect himself. The reflected attack hurled both Goneff and Golem into the hands of officers waiting outside.

|desc=Goneff has a Golem which he uses for his schemes. Goneff was also shown to have a Golem shaped balloon. When TRT got into Goneff's hideaway building to retrieve Jessie's Wobbuffet that Goneff had unintentionally kidnapped, he sent Golem out, only to be confronted shortly thereafter by Ash and Totodile who hit it with a Water Gun. Golem then used Double Team, creating three doubles of itself. Afterwards it hurt Totodile badly. Totodile was about to be finished off when Wobbuffet used Counter on an incoming attack from Golem, sending it flying towards Goneff. Golem and its Trainer where then arrested.
