What exactly do these do? Activate Berries and abilities like Swarm? | What exactly do these do? Activate Berries and abilities like Swarm? Big Saturn
:I assume Item Call is mostly for things like Berries, but I would assume that skill call would be more for things that actually trigger visibly, like the weather-making abilities, frisk, intimidate, synchronize (could be used on the next mon after the one that inflicted the condition was KO'd), etc. But I could be wrong. ::Ideally we would have a list of which items/Abilities are triggered by them. --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 01:29, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
== New Strangeness? == | |||
It seems theyve changed the way X items work, sort of. They actually open up the pokemon menu like using a potion, and you have to select who to give it to. If you select a pokemon that isnt out, the battle screen returns, says "Player used the X Attack! But its not where this item can be used!"

:In Generation V, items can be used on Pokémon that cannot receive them. It just says the item fails. --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 13:25, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
== Locations of X items in RBY ==
Currently they're only listed as being available in Celadon Department Store. I'm doing a Yellow run where I'm sure I've never bought any X items, but I have an X Special and an X Accuracy, so they must be available as items on the field elsewhere. Any ideas where I might have found these? --Flicky1991 15:33, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
:When they updated the tables back in 2010-ish, they didn't look for places on the field, because that was so time-consuming. "What links here" says you probably found them at the Underground Path (Kanto Routes 5-6) and at the Pokémon Tower. --Abcboy (talk) 16:21, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
== What exactly are battle items supposed to be anyway? ==
Are they some weird sort of pills that the Pokemon eats or what are they supposed to be anyways? I presume the X stands for "extra" but how are these items used? The Cantonese name for X Speed uses this character which translates as "tool" or "device" so I assume these aren't edible, but then why are they one use only? 器

:I can't confirm, but I believe they're just single-use pill bottles. The rounded part is presumably a kind of Pokémon-resistant packaging, and the stuff inside look like little medicinal tablets. They could be considered single-use if the cap breaks permanently when the bottle is opened, so each bottle has exactly one dose of stat boost.
