I still have yet to find a Ralts or a Smoochum when using the basic extension. Are there some Pokémon that are unavailable to certain players maybe? :It's been months and I still haven't found a Ralts or Smoochum. Now it's like a routine the things I catch: Swablu, Bronzor, Igglybuff, Porygon, Igglybuff, Swablu, etc. Those are literally the only things I've found recently; well, maybe one Munna in there somewhere. Can someone with a bit of computer knowledge please try to look into the mechanics of this? I would, but I have no such knowledge. :D Thank you. :I started acquiring Retrieval and Eureka Alpha once I paid orbs to the Professor, so that may be it. May need some more research. (paid 100 for visor upgrade and I got the Retrieval, then another 100 for laser upgrade and got Eureka Alpha) Berrenta (talk) 01:58, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
::It is the total amount of Dream Orbs collected, not spent. The manual implies this when it says "In the beginning, the only option is the BASIC EXTENSION, but as you collect Dream Orbs, a variety of extensions become available." I have only unlocked new extensions right after collecting Dream Orbs (other than the special extensions), never after buying anything; I have also had new extensions unlocked after going to the Interdream Zone and not having bought anything that time. --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 17:11, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
:::Oh, my apologies. I'll remember next time. Just got Dowsing after surpassing 700 total collected, so I'll add if it's okay. Berrenta (talk) 00:27, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
::::Yeah, that sounds about right. Go ahead and add it. --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 01:37, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
:::::The numbers on the article are/were off.  I've fixed the value for Landorus -- the article stated the extension appeared after acquiring 3500 Orbs, but I got Landorus with 3013.  Also, I was fairly certain that I received the previous legendary in the 1400 range, and later had that suspicion confirmed by the professor when one of her random chat lines included my current total.  I've been very careful with keeping track, making sure not to spend a single Orb on anything but upgrades.  No pokémon/item extensions, no one-use toys, nothing of the sort.  The only reason I haven't modified the other figure as well is that I don't know if it was 1400 or less which triggered the new extension.  At some point when I can be arsed to do so, I'm deleting my saved game in White 2 *and* in PDR so I can get extra copies of the legendary for a friend, but if anybody can confirm if it's 1400 or less, that'd be awesome. ::::::It's got somthing to do with numbers after using the eureka etensins and catching the Pokémon involved. I have collected over 1,600 dream orbs, but I have not unlocked any extensions past the eureka extension α. I only used it at over 1,600 orbs, and I then did a one-cloud run to see if I could unlock the next extension that way, but I still don't have it. This is in my second save file for the game recently, and I can confirm that it is possible to catch Landourous without upgrading the beam or energy pack at all. == Dream orb ratio indicator? ==
The article mentions that the game secretly tallies Dream Orb colors collected and adjusts the likelihood of Pokemon based on that, and doesn't mention anything about any way for the player to directly view which orb color is most prevalent. But I think the color of the orb icon next to the number of currently-held orbs might change to indicate it? I'm going to keep an eye on it as I keep playing (it's currently green whereas before I think it was pink), but if anyone else can also test this so we have a better dataset that'd be great Driftin Soul (talk) 14:10, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure that the orb color indicates what color of orbs you got most of in the last round you played, so if you got 30 blue ones and 15 of all the other colors the indicator next to the number of held orbs will become blue, thus changing the pokemon you can get to the blue group, but I haven't played in months so I could be wrong.
