This card was released in the English {{TCG|Team Rocket}} expansion, originating from the Japanese {{TCG|Crossing the Ruins...}} expansion. It was later reprinted in the English {{TCG|Legendary Collection}} expansion. A Non Holofoil print of this card was present in that set's {{TCG|Turmoil}} theme deck. Unlike the Team Rocket set version, the reprint was not a secret card.

*This card was the first {{TCG|secret card}} in a TCG set. It was also the first card that was released internationally before it was released in Japan, in which it would later be printed in {{TCG|Crossing the Ruins...}} as a super-rare card.

*The interior of this card's evolution box is light gray, not dark gray as opposed to other {{TCG|Dark Pokémon|Pokémon with "Dark" in their names}} from the Team Rocket set. It appears this way even in the {{TCG|Legendary Collection}} print.

*In the top-right corner of the card, it reads "Put '''Raichu''' on the Basic Pokémon", as opposed to the proper "Put '''Dark Raichu''' on the Basic Pokémon".
