Rapidash (Pokémon): Difference between revisions

Rapidash is an equine Pokémon with cream-colored fur and a pointed horn on its forehead. It has small, red eyes and triangular ears with reddish interiors. Yellow and reddish-orange flames stream from the back of its head to form a long, flowing mane. A short version of the mane trails down its back to its equally fiery tail. Flames are also present on its {{wp|fetlock}}s. It has slender legs, each with a single black hoof.

Rapidash is a very agile Pokémon. It runs at about 150 mph (240 km/h), chasing everything that moves in hopes of racing it. With incredible acceleration, it reaches its top speed in only ten steps. At full gallop, its hooves barely touch the ground. The faster Rapidash goes, the longer the swaying flames of its mane will become. At an all-out gallop, its blazing mane sparkles, a feature which is said to enhance its beautiful appearance. Rapidash lives in {{DL|List of Pokémon by habitat|Grassland Pokémon|grasslands}}, but it can also be seen on mountains in [[Pokémon Snap]].

A Rapidash appeared in ''[[M01|Mewtwo Strikes Back]]'', under the ownership of [[Neesha]]. It was one of the Pokémon that were captured and cloned by {{OBP|Mewtwo|original series}}. The Rapidash clone reappeared in ''[[Mewtwo Returns]]''.

A Rapidash appeared in ''[[EP272|Johto Photo Finish]]'', under the ownership of [[Jon Dickson]]. It was used in the final match of the [[Silver Conference]] and went up against a {{p|Rhydon}}. Rapidash was able to defeat Rhydon, granting its {{pkmn|Trainer}} victory in the Silver Conference.

A Rapidash appeared in the Hoopa's Surprise Ring Adventures short ''{{DL|Hoopa's Surprise Ring Adventures|Heated Battle}}''. It was summoned by {{an|Hoopa}} alongside a {{p|Slugma}}, {{p|Magmortar}}, and {{p|Heatran}}. They all used {{type|Fire}} attacks to set Ash and {{AP|Pikachu}} on fire.

A Rapidash appeared in ''[[EP065|Showdown at the Po-ké Corral]]'', where it was among the Pokémon living at [[Professor Oak's Laboratory]].

Multiple Rapidash appeared in the opening intro of ''[[M04|Celebi: The Voice of the Forest]]'', which was reused for ''[[M05|Pokémon Heroes: Latios & Latias]]''.

A Rapidash appeared in ''[[AG042|Love at First Flight]]'', during [[Jessie]]'s dream of {{wp|Prince Charming}}.

A {{pkmn|Trainer}}'s Rapidash appeared in ''[[SM034|A Crowning Moment of Truth!]]''. It was among the Pokémon attending the [[Wela Fire Festival‎]].

[[Blaine]] has a Rapidash as his steed in [[Pokémon Adventures]]. In ''[[PS026|Holy Moltres]]'', it carried {{adv|Red}} to [[Cinnabar Lab|Blaine's secret laboratory]] to revive an [[Aero]]dactyl from its Fossil. Later, Blaine rides Rapidash into {{adv|Mewtwo}}'s {{m|Psywave}} in an attempt to defeat Mewtwo. To protect Red, Blaine's Rapidash creates a fireball wall around the {{pkmn|Trainer}} to shield him from the impending blast.

A Rapidash appeared in ''[[PS179|The Last Battle XIII]]'' as one of the Pokémon sent to participate in the fight in [[Ilex Forest]].

A Rapidash appeared in ''[[PS309|Moving Past Milotic]]'', when {{adv|Crystal}} lent the one she had to {{adv|Emerald}}. Though it was initially overwhelmed by [[Lucy's Seviper]] with its {{m|Toxic}} and {{m|Giga Drain}} maneuver, its fellow team member {{p|Blissey}} revitalized it using {{m|Heal Bell}} and {{m|Softboiled}}, allowing it to defeat the serpent with a powerful {{m|Overheat}}.

 

A Rapidash appeared in ''[[PS442|Out-Odding Oddish]]'', under the ownership of a [[Pokéathlon]] participant.

 

{{EF|Flint}}'s Rapidash was the first Pokémon used in the battle against [[Hareta]] in ''[[DPA24|Hareta's Heart's Desire]]''. It quickly defeated his {{TP|Hareta|Empoleon}} with its combined {{m|Sunny Day}} and {{m|Solar Beam}}, but it was eventually defeated by [[Hareta's Regigigas]].

Blaine sent out a Rapidash during the battle portion of the Pokémon Quiz Battle in ''[[PM024|Fierce Competition at the Pokémon Quiz Battle!!]]''.

Blaine's Rapidash was briefly seen in ''[[PZ08|Cinnabar Island]]''.

Rapidash's horn shows it may have been inspired by {{wp|unicorn}}s, but it also displays a lot of resemblance to a regular {{wp|horse}}. Rapidash and its pre-evolved form may also be based on fiery steeds in mythology, such as those of the Greek god {{wp|Helios}}, {{wp|Skinfaxi and Hrímfaxi|Skinfaxi}} of {{wp|Norse mythology}}, and the horses of the {{wp|Ashvins}} in {{wp|Hindu mythology}}.
