In Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, Hoenn TV is based in Lilycove City and broadcasts its programs to televisions. It airs much of the news and television programs seen on TV in the Hoenn region. When a program is on, televisions in houses will be flashing.

In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, TV Mauville is based in Mauville City and broadcasts to the BuzzNav on the PokéNav Plus.

Gabby and Ty work for this station, finding strong Trainers to battle and interview.

In the games

Generation III

Reason: Other missing shows and other possible Pokémon in Pokémon Angler
The Pokémon Fan Club

The Pokémon Fan Club in Hoenn has its own TV show, broadcasting two different features depending on the first Pokémon in the player's party when he/she is interviewed by a reporter at the club house in Slateport City.

  • (if the first Pokémon is nicknamed)
    • "We are the Pokémon Fan Club! We're on the air! On this program, we get your opinions, and I shout them out on your behalf! Isn't it a fantastic program concept? Today, we bring you this report from our reporter, who we sent out to the Pokémon Fan Club. So, just who is today's featured Pokémon fan? ... ... ... ... ... ... ... <player>! So, let's hear what <player> has to say about <nickname> the <species>. And, I will shout those words of love out loud on TV! Hoo-hah! Let's shout!"
    (one of the following)
    • "We asked <player>, 'When you first laid your eyes on your <species>, what was your initial thought?' <word>. Yeahah! That's a mighty fine shout! Doesn't it bring back memories of those days long gone by?"
    • "We asked <player>, 'If you were to liken your <species> to something, it would be...' ... ... ... ... ... ... ... <word>! Whoah-oh, now that's an original idea! You sure can sense the intensity of feeling the Trainer has for <species>!"
"And let's see... What was it about that <species> that so attracted <player>? ... ... ... ... ... ... ... <second word>! Whoa! Such a spectacular declaration! The love of this Trainer for the <species> comes across loud and clear! Hm? Oh, there's still more. Let's check it out! We asked <player>, 'What do Pokémon mean to you?' ... ... ... ... ... ... <third word>! Bravo! That's the best shout I've had all day! <third word>! It makes you want to shout it out loud again and again! Now that we've had a great shout, it's time to say good-bye until next time! So, let's all have one last shout! <third word>!"
  • (if the first Pokémon is not nicknamed)
    • "We are the Pokémon Fan Club! We're on the air! Today, we'll get rolling with the Pokémon Survey Corner. Of all the tales woven by Pokémon and Trainers, what startling new drama will grab out attention today? Let me see... This one! We'll start with this letter! It's a letter from <player> about a beloved <species>! Let's see how passionately our writer can express love for the <species>! Hmhm..."
      <four words>
"Whoah! What an amazing letter! I loved it, so here it is again!"

      <the same four words>
    (one of the following)
    • "A great letter bears reading over and over! The bit '<one of the words>', that really accentuates emotional impact!"
    • "It's a great letter that has real heartfelt depth! Especially that '<one of the words>' bit! I love how '<one of the words>' is used!"
    • "By the way, and it's not important, but '<one of the words>' is a great saying. I've been using '<one of the words>' a lot in conversations lately."
"If I had to score this letter, I'd give it <random number between 70 and 100> points. Next time, I'll be expecting an even better letter, <player>! A-whoops, will you look at the time? Time to say good-bye until next time!"
The World of Masters

A show about catching Pokémon. Available only through record mixing.

"Hello, viewers. Perhaps you are aware of a Trainer named <player>. <player> is famous as a master at catching Pokémon. <player>'s quest for Pokémon depends entirely on a careful search on foot. On one memorable day, the Trainer walked some <number of steps> steps. The total number of Pokémon caught that day reached an impressive <number of Pokémon caught>. That remarkable feat must have been possible because of the trust between the Trainer and <player's first Pokémon>. The master caught the day's last near <player's last location>. That Pokémon apparently enjoys a special status as a record holder. Skilled Trainers should be encouraged to challenge this fine record. That's all for today. Please tune in next time."

Today's Smart Shopper

A show that reviews the recent purchases of a Trainer. Available only through record mixing.

"Hello! It's time for Today's Smart Shopper!"

"Interviewer: How are you viewers? Today we're visiting the Pokémon Mart in <city>. Let's check on what the hot sellers have been recently. Let's interview the clerk to get the lowdown. Hi, how's your business?"

(if the player bought at least 10, up to 100 of the same item)

  • "Clerk: Oh, we're doing excellent. Recently, <item> has been selling especially strongly. Why, just the other day a Trainer named <player> bought <number>."
(one of the following)
  • "Interviewer: The Trainer bought <number>? That's a haul! If I may say so, <player> may have been stocking up for a long journey to far-off places. For travelling, <item>s are so important!"
  • "Interviewer: Speaking of the item <item>, I just bought <second number> of them recently. After all, <item>'s a great item!"
  • "Interviewer: <item>?! But <number> of them?! I didn't think there would be anyone buying that many. My goodness, I can only afford one or two at a time..."
  • "Interviewer: One time, I bought a whole lot of the item <item>. But it turned out to be too many. I ended up regretting it... Since then, I only buy strictly what I absolutely need... Oops! There's no point talking about me!"
(if the player bought more items)
  • "Clerk: <player> also bought the item <second item> in bulk, taking <third number>."
"Interviewer: Oh, that's smart. <second item>'s a very good item, too."
"Clerk: And the Trainer also bought <fourth number> of the item <third item>. "
"Clerk: Plus, it was during a big sale. That's smart shopping."
"Clerk: <player> is a VIP customer, no doubt about it."
"Interviewer: Hmm... <player> sounds like quite the shrewd bargain hunter!"
"Interviewer: In total, <player>'s purchases came to... <amount spent>?! What an amazing sum! Oops! We're out of time! See you on our next broadcast!"

(if the player bought more than 100 of the same item)

  • "Clerk: Oh, we're doing unbelievable business. It's almost overwhelming. Recently, a Trainer named <player> bought the item <item> in bulk. The Trainer almost cleared our entire stock of <item>. I never dreamt that any customer would ever need so many <item>s, It's just unheard of!"
"Interviewer: So that would be like 100 or 200 sold?"
"Clerk: Oh, no, much more than that!"
"Interviewer: Oh, my goodness! <player> must be a special shopper!"
"Clerk: <player> is a VIP customer, no doubt about it."
"Interviewer: Hmm... That is amazing. But why would the Trainer need to buy so many? ... ... The mystery deepens, but this is all the time we have today. See you on our next broadcast! Still, <player> is certainly an enigma..."
Pokémon Today

A show that reviews a Trainer's Pokémon, like their nickname, how many balls were used to catch it, etc. Available only through record mixing.

  • (if the player caught a Pokémon)
    • "Hello! It's time for Pokémon Today!"
"Big Sis: Hi! Is everyone peachy and perky today? Today, we're going to look at <player>'s Pokémon <species the player caught>!"
"Big Bro: Yeah! That's what we're going to do!"
"Big Sis: <player> gave the nickname <nickname> to the <species>! It sounds like <nickname> is getting good, loving care!"
"Big Bro: The Trainer had to throw this many Balls to catch it: <number of Poké Balls used>! It finally took a single <type of Poké Ball> to catch it!"
(if the Pokémon was caught with less than 5 balls)
    • "Big Sis: If it was that easy to catch, it must have been destiny that brought <player> and the <species> together!"
(if the Pokémon was caught with more than 5 balls)
    • "Big Sis: Wow! That's so neat! But you know what they say, a Pokémon that takes a lot of effort to catch earns the love of its Trainer!"
(if the Pokémon was caught with a Master Ball)
    • "Big Sis: <player>'s <nickname> is a memorable Pokémon because it took an invaluable Master Ball to catch!"
    "Big Bro: Wow! That's mega-awesome!"
"Big Sis: <player> must have really wanted that <species>, for sure!"
"Big Bro: Then to give the nickname <nickname> to that <species>... You really get a good idea about <player>'s Trainer sense."
    (one of the following)
    • "Big Sis: I second that notion! As far as I know, no Trainer has ever given the nickname <nickname> to their <species>!"
"Big Bro: That just goes to show what great taste the Trainer has in picking nicknames!"
    • "Big Sis: I second that notion! The next time I catch a Pokémon, I should give it the name <nickname>! "
"Big Bro: Huh? Me, too! I'll use the nickname <nickname> too!"
    • "Big Sis: I second that notion! If it were me, I'd give that nickname to something like <a different species>!"
"Big Bro: Whoa! That could be the start of something new!"
    • "Big Sis: I second that notion! <nickname> the <species>? Doesn't that sound perfect? The letters and everything - they sound just right for the Pokémon <species>!"
    "Big Bro: Yeah, true, that!"
"Big Sis: Oh, no! Look at the time! Well, gang, this is it for today. See you again next time!"
"Big Bro: Remember, it could be your Pokémon in the spotlight next time!"
  • (if the player failed to catch a Pokémon)
    • "Hello! It's time for Pokémon Today!"
"Big Sis: Hi! Is everyone peachy and perky today? Today, we're going to look at <player>'s Pokémon <species the player tried to catch>!"
"Big Bro: Yeah! That's what we're going to do! Oh, speaking of <player>... Big Sis, I saw the Trainer with my very own eyes! "
"Big Sis: Oh, what did you see? "
"Big Bro: Well, I had to go on a trip to <place where the Pokémon was>. That's when I happened to come across <player>, who was trying to catch the Pokémon <species>, but.."
    (if the Pokémon fled)
    • "The Pokémon managed to get away! It ended up wasting this many Poké Balls: <number of Poké Balls used>! You should have seen the expression of frustration on <player>'s face when the Pokémon took off!"
    (if the Pokémon fainted)
    • "But <player> goofed and made the Pokémon faint! It ended up wasting this many Poké Balls: <number of Poké Balls used>! You should have seen the expression of stunned dismay on <player>'s face when the Pokémon fainted!"
"Big Sis: Hey, there! That's not nice! You shouldn't be laughing at other people's misfortune! Oh, poor <player>! What a shame!"
"Big Bro: That's true! Sorry for laughing."
    "Big Sis: Bufufu..."
"Big Bro: Hey! You just laughed, too!"
"Big Sis: Huh?! I didn't laugh! Honestly, I didn't! Oh, poor <player>! What a shame!"
    "Big Bro: ..."
"Big Sis: That's enough silliness! Let's look at today's Pokémon... Huh? We're out of time already? Aww! We couldn't profile a Pokémon today!"
"Big Bro: See you again next time!"
"Big Sis: Hey, don't end the show without me!"
Pokémon Angler

A show that discusses about catching a certain Pokémon and the number of recent attempts of a Trainer to catch one. The species that can be discussed include Wailmer and Magikarp. Available through record mixing only.

"<species> Angler"

(if the player caught a rare species, such as Feebas)

  • "Announcer: Hello! Today, we'll get tips on fishing for <species>. Guru, what advice can you give for catching <species>?"
"Guru: Hm, catching <species>? Well, let me tell you, be patient and wait. That's the bottom line. Do you see <player> over there? That Trainer makes a good example. That Trainer's already had <number> Pokémon get away. But there <player> waits. No giving up. That's the law for catching <species>."
"Announcer: I see... Oh! <player> has finally landed an elusive <species>! The Trainer appears close to tears out of sheer joy! Seeing that elated look, I'm getting the itch to go fishing, too! Viewers, why not take this as a cue to try some <species> fishing? Until our next broadcast, farewell and good fishing to you all!"

(if the player caught many Pokémon of the same species)

  • "Announcer: Hello! Today, we'll get tips on fishing for <species>. Guru, what advice can you give for catching <species>?"
"Guru: Hm, catching <species>? Well, let me tell you, use your fishing Rod with vigor! Do you see <player> over there? See how the Rod is handled? That Trainer's already caught <number> in a row."
"Announcer: It's incredible! It looks like a storm... Seeing technique of that caliber, I'm getting the itch to go fishing, too. Viewers, why not take this as a cue to try some <species> fishing? Until our next broadcast, farewell and good fishing to you all!"
In Search of Trainers

The show recorded by Gabby and Ty that covers a recent battle they had with the player.

Bravo Trainer

The show recorded following a Pokémon Contest or a Battle Tower streak that the player participated in.

  • Contest:
    • "Yeah! It's Bravo Trainer time! Today, we're going to profile a Pokémon belonging to <player>. Now, this Pokémon boasts a <condition> rating in the <rank> Rank."
(if the participating Pokémon has a nickname)
    • "Introducing <nickname> the <species>! The nickname <nickname>... Even the nickname exudes an air that proclaims '<condition>'!"
(if the participating Pokémon doesn't have a nickname)
    • "Introducing the Trainer's <species>!"
"Anyway, when the Trainer entered the Pokémon in a Contest, we managed to get a few impassioned quotes about the trusty partner."
    (if the participating Pokémon won)
    • "Asked about the Contest afterwards, <player> happily replied with a huge grin, '<first word>'!" Well, sure, <player>'s Pokémon came in number 1 in the Contest. That line perfectly suits <player> right now, I'd say!"
(if the participating Pokémon failed to win)
    • "Asked about the Contest afterwards, <player> replied with a tinge of bitterness, '<first word>'." Well, sure, <player>'s Pokémon came in number <position> in the Contest. <player>'s disappointment comes across loud and clear, I'd say!"
"Wouldn't you also like to know what <player> imagines <condition> to be? You bet we did! So we asked, of course! The answer is all perfectly condensed: '<second word>'! That's what the concept of <condition> represents to <player>! The move <last appeal used> used by the <species> is entirely about '<second word>'! Bravo, <player>! Bravo, <nickname or species>! I hope we can count on seeing <player> scale even greater heights! That's all the time we have! Until next time, see you!"
  • Battle Tower:
    • "Yeah! It's Bravo Trainer time! Today, we're going to profile <player> who took the Battle Tower challenge! For the challenge, <player> entered one wicked <first selected Pokémon>."
(if the player set a new streak record and won at the end)
    • "The pair set a new record of <number of> wins in a row in <level mode> competition! Bravo, Trainer! The twosome won it all by defeating <last opponent>'s <last Pokémon> thoroughly. Bravo, Trainer! Knocking off even <last opponent>... It defies belief! Simply astounding! We asked the Trainer for impressions on the moment of glory."
(if the player set a new streak record and lost at the end)
    • "The pair set a new record of <number of> wins in a row in <level mode> competition! Bravo, Trainer! The twosome finally succumbed to <last opponent> in match number <win streak + 1>. Nice try, Trainer! But hey, it's just bad luck to run into <last opponent> so early in the challenge. We asked the Trainer for impressions on the match with <last opponent>."
(if the player lost the final match of the streak)
    • After a string of wins, the pair finally succumbed to <last opponent>'s <last Pokémon>, their final hurdle. Nice try, Trainer! Still, you have to give credit. You don't see many famous combinations like <last opponent> and <last Pokémon>. We asked the Trainer for impressions on battling the celebrity pair."
"This is what the Trainer had to say:"
    (<player>: "I'm satisfied!")
    • "Now, isn't that a refreshing reply? Bravo, Trainer! Isn't it out-and-out awesome to be able to battle to full satisfaction? I found out exactly how satisfied when I heard the Trainer say this: <word>. Now isn't that great? It really expresses <player>'s joy, I'd say. That battle with <last opponent> at the end... It really was what you'd call '<word>'!"
    (<player>: "I'm not satisfied...")
    • "Our Trainer was obviously a little down when that was uttered. Still, it's not easy to be able to battle with complete satisfaction, am I right? Anyway, I found out how dissatisfied our Trainer was when I heard this: <word>. Now isn't that fitting? That battle with <last opponent> at the end... You can't describe it as anything else but '<word>'! <player>'s disappointment comes across loud and clear, I'd say!"
"Bravo, <player>! Bravo, <first selected Pokémon>! I hope we can count on seeing <player> scale even greater heights! That's all the time we have! Until next time, see you!"
Name Rater Show

A show by the Name Rater and reviews a recent change to a Pokémon's nickname.

"And now, it's time for... The Name Rater Show. I tell your Pokémon's fortune from the nickname you've bestowed. Advice is what I have to give, and it is helpful advice that I offer. Today, I shall prophesize the nickname <nickname> of <player>'s Pokémon <species>. Hmhm... Hmm... This nickname is..."

(one of the following)

  • "A nickname that hints at talent in many different ways. I urge this Trainer to take courage and take on many challenges."
  • "A nickname that perfectly complements <player>, the Trainer's name. It suggests that you will forge a fine partnership with precise timing."
  • "A nickname fit for a unique individual of a Pokémon! If raised properly, this Pokémon's uniqueness will bloom excessively!"
  • "A nickname that will nurture the caring and compassionate side of Pokémon. If raised properly, this Pokémon will come to exhibit real warmth!"
  • "A very fine nickname that hints at greatness to come. I am intrigued about what the future holds in store for this Pokémon."
  • "A good nickname that should make the Pokémon hale and hearty! That Pokémon should remain fit and robust for a long, long time."
  • "A good nickname that should make the Pokémon very active! I should think that this Pokémon will be a strong performer in battles."
  • "An appealing nickname that should make the Pokémon very charming! I don't doubt that this Pokémon will be quite the charmer in Pokémon Contests."

(one of the following)

  • "The nickname <nickname> is rooted by the letter '<second letter>'. That letter is supported by the first letter '<first letter>', which gives it a solid sense of presence as a nickname."
  • "The nickname <nickname> is shapely in a pleasing manner. The presence of the letters '<first letter>' and '<second letter>' - now that is remarkably good!"
  • "The nickname <nickname> - it has a sublime, flowing feel to it. The flow from the initial '<first letter>' to '<second letter>' is especially wonderful."

"Let's examine other examples of fine nicknames, shall we? Take this example. Take a part of the Trainer name of <player> and end up with the fine nickname <second nickname>. The nickname <second nickname> would also work quite well. The Pokémon's species name of <species> could be used as the basis for making the nickname <third nickname>. <third nickname> would also be an effective nickname. What should always be avoided is using another Pokémon species name. For instance, avoid taking the name of <other species> to make the nickname <fourth nickname>. That is unacceptable. But I must say, <player> has a most remarkable flair for devising nicknames. It is my hope that the Trainer will continue to treat <nickname> with love. That's it for today's show. May we meet again."

Recent Happenings

The show recorded following an interview with the reporter at the Oceanic Museum.

"Hello, it's time for Recent Happenings. For Pokémon Trainers, every day is a storybook tale. What we want to do is introduce you to some of these Pokémon tales. Today, we bring you the story of the Trainer <player>. What did <player> experience recently? Let's find out.
<four words>
Wasn't that enlightening? The story gives you a clear idea of what <player> has experienced recently. It's as if we were there as witnesses!"

(one of the following)

  • "'<one of the words>'. That accents the tale and gives it depth."
  • "'<one of the words>'. That gives the tale a sense of place. It lets us envision the tale's setting."
  • "The '<one of the words>' section of the tale is very expressive."

"<player> has recounted a wonderful tale involving Pokémon. And now <player>'s tale is indelibly etched into your soul, too. That's it for today. Please tune in next time."

Reason: Identify all of the variable lines in the programs below and what the requirements are for the different lines

In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Hoenn TV has been renamed to TV Mauville (Japanese: テレビキンセツ TV Kinsetsu) and relocated to Mauville City. A sign outside the building reads:

Hoenn's One and Only TV Network
TV Mauville

The station still broadcasts shows to the Hoenn region, but they are shown via the BuzzNav on the PokéNav Plus instead of on televisions. Televisions show the same programs as in X and Y.

TV Mauville created the Hoenn Rangers Coexistence Force (Japanese: 共存戦隊ホウエンジャー Coexistence Squadron Hōenger).

Telemauv (Japanese: テレキンちゃん Telekin-chan) is the station's mascot, a television shaped like Mauville City with eyes, arms, and legs.

In the Pokémon Adventures manga

In Pokémon Adventures, although Hoenn TV is based in Lilycove City, it also has another branch in Slateport City. During the events of the Ruby & Sapphire arc, Archie worked the head of the station, allowing him to keep the public unaware of Team Aqua's activities and giving more focus on Team Magma's actions instead. It is unknown who took control of the station after the events of the chapter. Gabby and Ty work with Hoenn TV as interviewers.
