I understand that "native" can refer to indigenous peoples, who have been plagued with certain stereotypes. But that is only one of many definitions, and the others are more acceptable, thus being completely appropriate for usage. For example, an alternate definition for native is a local inhabitant in general. For example, you are a native of your home country. I'm not sure if you're a member of that country's indigenous people, but if you're not, "native" is still an accurate description of you. I'm a native of the United States, even though I am not of Native American descent. People who live in Alola are definitely the region's natives.
