Kanto Route 25: Difference between revisions

Heading from west to east, Route 25 initially begins as an extension to {{rt|24|Kanto}}. To the east, Route 25 comes to a maze of trees ([[Generation]]s {{Gen|I}} and {{Gen|II}}) or shrubs [[Generation III]]). Regardless of the [[Generation]], the maze is full of {{pkmn|Trainer}}s ready to battle. Note that if the player loses to Cooltrainer/Ace Trainer Kevin at the end of the route, he cannot be rematched; however, since he gives the player a Nugget before the battle begins, there's no extra benefit by defeating him besides the [[prize money]], which all Trainers give. To the northwest of the maze is a patch of grass containing [[wild Pokémon]].

Near the east end of the maze, there is a {{m|cut}}table tree blocking an area that contains an [[item]]. By removing the tree, Trainers can collect a certain item.

East of the maze, the [[route]] opens up to its widest point before condensing slightly near a pair of Trainers ({{Gen|I}}/{{Gen|III}}) or a single Trainer ({{Gen|II}}) and the first of two ponds near the east end of the route, known as '''Cerulean Cape''' (Japanese: '''{{tt|ハナダのみさき|Hanada no Misaki}}''' ''{{tt|Hanada|Cerulean}} Cape''). To the north of a land bridge between the two ponds is the [[Sea Cottage]], the home of {{pkmn|Professor|Pokémon Researcher}} [[Bill]].

Route 25 continues east, turning south at the ocean shoreline and passing along a narrow strip of land between the ocean and the eastern pond. At the southern tip of the pond, the route turns west, intersecting the land bridge as it runs along the southern edge of the ponds. Just to the west of the pond, the route turns north for a yard before doubling back to the west, running along the southern edge of the route's main path as it feeds into the "express route", one way portion of Route 24. The existence of the long, narrow bypass south of Route 25 allows for quick, hassle-free travel between Cerulean Cape and its namesake city. However, due to a ledge at the southern terminus of Route 24 in [[Cerulean City]], the reverse is not possible.

In Generations {{gen|I}} and {{gen|III}}, the corner connecting Routes 24 and 25 is considered a part of Route 24. In Generations {{gen|II}} and {{gen|IV}}, it's included with Route 25.

The [[route]] layout in [[Generation]]s {{gen|I}} and {{gen|III}} is nearly identical. The only change is the closing of the hill behind the [[Sea Cottage]] in Generation III.

Route 25 debuts in ''[[PS009|...But Fearow Itself!]]'' as the place where {{adv|Bill}}'s [[Sea Cottage]] is located and where {{adv|Red}} first met him.

* The increase of {{p|Krabby}}'s encounter rate from 33% to 70% and the addition of {{p|Kingler}} between {{2v2|Red|Blue}} and {{v2|Yellow}} can be taken as a reference to the anime series episode ''[[EP013|Mystery at the Lighthouse]]'', considering the fact that Route 25 is the place where Ash caught his Krabby.

* [[Misty]], the [[Cerulean City]] [[Gym Leader]], likes to bring her dates to the Cerulean Cape on the east side of Route 25. One such date was interrupted in [[Generation II]] when the {{player}} encountered Misty at the land bridge between the two ponds following the restoration of power to Kanto. In {{game|HeartGold and SoulSilver|s}}, the date instead takes place on the hill located just east of the cottage.

* In HeartGold and SoulSilver, Misty mentions how she loves watching the sunset when talking to her, yet she is on the east coast staring off into the east, while the sun would set in the west.
