A Moltres made its debut in ''[[EP074|All Fired Up]]'', though engulfed in flames, where it defeated {{TRT}}. It reappeared in a flashback in ''[[EP075|Round One - Begin!]]'' and in another flashback in ''[[EP080|Friends to the End]]''.

A Moltres appeared in ''[[XY086|A Legendary Photo Op!]]'', resting in the crater of [[Mt. Molteau]]. {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} joined {{an|Trevor}}, who was looking to photograph the [[Legendary birds|Legendary bird]], but after being attacked by Team Rocket, Moltres assumed Ash and the others were allied with the trio, and attacked them. Moltres first appeared in ''[[PS026|Holy Moltres]]'' where it pursued and battled against [[Blaine]] and {{adv|Red}}, it was also revealed that Team Rocket had captured it Indigo Plateau where [[Sabrina]] had obtained Moltres for [[Team Rocket]] during the [[Kanto]] saga, but it is not seen in battle. It is later combined with {{p|Articuno}} and {{p|Zapdos}} to form a singular Legendary bird, but they separate once Sabrina is defeated and go back to the wild.

{{adv|Green}} later catches Moltres on [[Mt. Ember]] during her training journey to overcome her fear of birds. She used it and its fellow Legendary birds in the fight against [[Karen]] and [[Will]], who were commanding the [[Masked Man]]'s {{p|Ho-Oh}} and {{p|Lugia}}. She has not used any of them since, meaning they have probably been deposited in the box or released.

* In [[Generation I]], Moltres is the only member of the Legendary Birds to not be found in an optional dungeon. The [[Kanto Power Plant]] can be ignored entirely and the [[Seafoam Islands]] may be skipped by [[surf]]ing south from [[Pallet Town]], but [[Victory Road]] must be traversed to reach the [[Indigo Plateau]] (although the area where Moltres is found is optional). In the remakes ''[[Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen Versions|FireRed and LeafGreen]]'', Moltres was relocated to [[Mt. Ember]] on the [[Sevii Islands]], which the player never needs to visit.
