==Character==

Kyle was a strong coordinator in the Wallace Cup as he was able to get past many of the participants, including {{Ash}}. Unlike the other participants in the tournament who battled Ash, he was the only one who pointed out Ash's strategy of using only {{AP|Buizel}} instead of multiple Pokémon, which made Ash react angrily.

Kyle first appeared with a brief cameo in ''[[DP077|Staging a Heroes' Welcome!]]'', where he participated in the [[Appeal|Appeals Round]] of the [[Wallace Cup]].  

He had a real major appearance in the [[DP078|following episode]] where he battled {{Ash}} and his {{AP|Buizel}} in the [[Contest Battle|Battle Round]]. He was able to predict what Ash was going to do in the match as he kept using Buizel in every round of the Wallace Cup. He won the match on points despite {{p|Buizel}} using its Ice {{m|Aqua Jet}} technique.

Kyle then went up against {{an|Dawn}} in the semi-finals. Despite his efforts, his {{p|Crawdaunt}} lost to {{an|Dawn}} and her {{TP|Dawn|Piplup}}'s {{m|Bide}} and he was knocked out of the competition, placing in the Top 4.

|desc={{p|Lanturn}} is Kyle's strongest Pokémon, using it in the [[Wallace Cup]] against {{Ash}} and {{AP|Buizel}}. Despite Ash and Buizel's determination to win, by this stage in the Wallace Cup it was experience that mattered and Kyle was able to easily dominate the match. However, by launching an Ice Beam, Lanturn unexpectedly helped Buizel use Ice Aqua Jet, a [[Contest combination|combination]] Dawn had unsuccessfully attempted to teach Buizel. This made Kyle lose a lot of points, however, it wasn't enough and the time ran out leaving Kyle victorious.

When {{p|Piplup}} launched a {{m|Whirlpool}}, Crawdaunt was able to get out of it by launching a Dark Pulse. When Crawdaunt was about to use Crabhammer, Piplup had used {{m|Bide}} on its Dark Pulse, backfiring and fainting Crawdaunt, putting Dawn through to the Finals.
