Datamined Images again

I asked the person who posted what I linked you earlier, and I got a PM back saying "Same guy who does the pastebin datamines (SciresM) according to this post", linking this (see post #2) as a reference.

I went ahead and directly contacted him here, so you can follow up on that if you want to confirm it's all right; I'll start breaking them up for now into individual files as I don't think there will be a problem, but will wait for confirmation before uploading anything. I also found a free online tool that does transparency (which is good since I can't spend $70 on PSP right now), so I'll look into that for adding transparency; it seems easy enough to use. I'm still working on Battle Trozei data, with the ten main areas pretty much documented now (as complete as possible through Area 8, with 7-5 and 7-6 not being playable yet and completely based on videos while 9 and 10 still have some confirmations I want to make on top of the video research), but breaking this into images should be a simple matter since they're all in order. I'll keep an eye out for oddities (like the double Vivillon) and Megas); I'll probably eventually put them all into place so that the template can be converted over and everything can be used the instant it's added as it's already on the server that way (we can then use Megas too). Thank you for letting me know. I have created a summary template on the Archives for the icons. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:19, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis

Hi. I have noticed that both the Pokéteca and the LANDpedia are down and that Pokémoncetral[1] has removed them from there list of Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis members since they are down so I am wondering if we should do the same and remove them since they do not work anyway? I ask you this question because you are a member of the editorial board. --Raltseye (talk) 10:00, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

We're looking into this, so please do not change anything at this time. Thanks, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:19, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

SpotPass article

I have messaged this too to Jo The Marten, but I realized she is currently on hiatus. I don't want to write more manually, so here is the message I sent to her:

Because you are the Project Games leader, I want to show you my SpotPass article. I think it meets the notability requirements, and if StreetPass has its own article, so shouldn't SpotPass have one too? So, can it be mainspaced? Thank you! --~~ThePokémonFanSince1995~~-- 07:12, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

I hope you can respond. Thank you! --~~ThePokémonFanSince1995~~-- 11:06, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

We'll review your article draft, and we will take any necessary actions. Thank you for forwarding this to me. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:19, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Archiving talk pages

Is there an ideal size a talk page mist reach before it has to be archived? → PikaTepig999 07:06, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

There is no specific policy on how large a talk page must be before it can be archived, nor a maximum size that archiving becomes mandatory. However, most common archiving levels have been ~50,000 bytes at the lowest and ~100,000 bytes at the highest. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 07:12, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
My talk page size has reached 95 KB (98,159 bytes); so I can archive it, right? → PikaTepig999 08:57, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
Correct. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 10:42, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Those New Templates

Just so I know what's going on and I'm not surprised, where are those new Shuffle and Battle Trozei templates meant to be used? Once I'm done all the stage data and have caught everything myself, I'll be going through and grabbing all the attack power and ability data for another List page, anyway, so that might be something I can help with as well (for Battle Trozei, got pretty much all but a few for Shuffle already). CycloneGU (talk) 05:17, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

I am developing an overhaul for the side game data table, but it is currently incomplete, so the templates won't be put into use yet. It is my intention, though, to have them put into use in the very near future. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:24, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
All right. No rush on that, of course, just was wondering about them. Still will be until Sunday before I put my table together, anyway, as that's the earliest I can have everything caught with how Safari Jungle operates (purposely started on Monday with Unown A there). CycloneGU (talk) 05:33, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Why?

Why did you protected Pokemon in South Asia? The thing happened recently was not an Edit War as the edit was undone only 2 times. As far as I had remembered, an Edit War occurs only if the edit is reverted 3 times or more than that. So please unlock it PLEASE! Yash Sen 12:32, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

I protected it simply because the constant fighting regarding that article needs to stop, and I'm making it stop. In 2015 alone, that article has been the subject of more incorrect information and edit wars than any article on Bulbapedia has in the 10 years and 5 months of Bulbapedia's existence! The article will not be unprotected, not until I fully believe that the editors who regularly edit that article can get along, use talk pages to discuss major changes, and properly research the information they're adding. The decision is final. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 12:40, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
You mean that if editors start to get along and start discussing on Talk page then you will unprotect that article? But still, I think that infinite protection is not right, I guess it should be protected atleast for maximum 3 months but infinite locking is not just right because it's not right that due to few users, others too have to suffer. Please give us just one chance by protecting it for maximum 3 months and by giving warnings to users that if they edit wared again then they will blocked for a long period and then I think you can protect that page infinitely unless users improve. But please give us just one final chance! Yash Sen 17:44, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
If I may chime in here on page protection, I believe Wikipedia uses the ability to block certain users from editing certain pages or sections. If one or two users can be identified as the root of the problem, doing that here might be the proper solution, thereby allowing other users to edit and make changes, allowing that user to later make requests that anyone can then follow up on (and not just staff). I have noticed the constant edit wars and support protecting the page in some way, but full blocking from all users prohibits constructive work on the page. Of course, if those users later become better editors down the road, their access can be restored on a trial basis.
If this is in fact not technically possible here, please disregard, but I just wanted to suggest that. I don't want Yasn Sen to think this is going to happen, obviously, because it's merely a suggestion. But yes, using the article or, sometimes, user talk page to suggest changes is the proper thing to do in causes of conflict or on busy articles, protection or not. CycloneGU (talk) 00:48, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
What do you mean by all that, CycloneGU? Yash Sen 13:31, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
I mean nothing by it, just making a suggestion on handling incidents like this in the future. CycloneGU (talk) 14:38, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

(resetting indent) But please unprotect that article for some time because there's many necessary edits to be made in the article and no admin is adding it. So please unlock the page temporarily that is for some time. Yash Sen 15:19, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Kogoro already stated the decision is final. Why don't you create the content in your userspace and then ask Kogoro or another admin. directly about adding it? If the content is deemed suitable, it can then be included. That is the option for the time being. Unprotecting can just lead to another edit war and reprotection anyway. CycloneGU (talk) 16:23, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
@CycloneGU: We do not have the capability to lock specific users out of specific articles. Just because Wikipedia has something, doesn't mean we have it as well.
@Yash Sen: As I have said; if I believe that everyone can get along and properly follow Bulbapedia policy in regards to the article, I may reduce its protection. However, it will take a fair lot of time to convince me of such a drastic improvement. Constantly badgering me (or other staff members) to reduce the protection certainly isn't helping your case. Seriously, drop it. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:40, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

Edit request

After you locked the Pokemon in South Asia article, you mentioned that all edit request must be made on the talk page. I made some requests on the talk page but it seems no one has noticed it. Could you take a look at them? → PikaTepig999 13:03, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Also, why is it that because of one or two edit warring users, the whole page is locked and all users have to suffer? → PikaTepig999 13:03, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
Read the whole section above which is #Why?! Yash Sen 13:23, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
This full too please add! Yash Sen 15:21, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
Sorry for butting in, Kogs.
@Yash: I'll look into the edits, when I have some spare time. I have got a job interview in pending, and some other personal stuff has me occupied for the past couple of weeks. Hence, lack of time for Bulba.
@PikaTepig: It's not just about 'one' or 'two' users. It seems like there is always an edit-war going on when it comes to that article and some users simply refuse to listen. Not to mention, the constant attempts to add information taken from really unreliable sources didn't help either. Staff members have tried their best to keep it under control. Despite MANY warnings, reminders and talk page messages, there was still less to no impact on the amount of junk that gets added to that page every now and then. Therefore, the full protection is the only viable option at this point. I'm sorry that you can't edit the page, even though you have shown some improvement, but we have no other choice at this point. Kogoro has already explained the reasoning in one of her previous messages, so please refer to the link that Yash provided above. AdynizWanna talk? 06:26, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
Thank you, Adyniz. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:40, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
Well, please try to add those important points whenever you have time. And Adyniz, if you will look closely, the same one or two users have a war every time. Other people who dont war are not guilty are they? So why should they suffer? → PikaTepig999 11:48, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
I think I cannot consider that suffering. Those who suffer are those that are blocked, because they can't edit anything. This protection is only one page that cannot be edited, and in my research in Bulbapedia history, edit requests occur when a new Pokémon game is being released (due to the heavy traffic they may cause). All users did that, by going to the forums for edit requests. The same too must apply while a page is undergoing dispute resolution, use the talk page for edit requests. A user said that they must go to the talk page first (yep its you, PikaTepig999.), but he still reverted the edit, and edit war will still continue because of a revert. That makes him guilty, instead of assuming good faith. So if a dispute resolution is undergoing, still follow the rules and assume good faith. If someone is assuming bad faith, still assume good faith. So the problem is not only because of edit war, but failure to follow the process of dispute resolution. --~~ThePokémonFanSince1995~~-- 23:56, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
I had reverted the edit becuase it was full of wrong information. I told the user to discuss on the talk page why they are adding it again. I had before that givin my opinion on the talk page and hence there was no need for me to mesage there again, until some else messaged. → PikaTepig999 06:45, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

(resetting indent)Who is that He and Him in your message Pokefan95? If he's me, then I would tell you that the Edit War occured recently in South Asia page is actually not an Edit War as that info was reverted only 2 times whereas as far as I remember reverting any edit 3 times or more creates an Edit War. Really, in today's life majority things cannot be trusted, first they told that reverting 3 times or more causes Edit War and then the article is protected, but now what's happening, 2 times only still protect! Che yaar now what can be done of this! Che yaar! And now don't blame me by saying that why did you even reverted that edit! All the fault is of Kogoro and ForceFire because they should have remember that 2 times reverting not an Edit War but still protected. Also, I am talking about the recent Edit War (which is actually not as I mentioned above) and not of those which happened before. Yash Sen 15:46, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

No its not you, Yash. And don't take it too seriously. You are in a staff talk page, not in a Freedom of Speech page. It is not the staff's fault, they are just doing their duty. If they didn't do that, this issue will continue again, until that page will be doomed. It is not about edit war, it is about the addition of false information and failure to follow the dispute resolution process. I know they are also connected to edit war, but that is not the case, because they are independent. Let us compare this to linking two independent clauses. They are linked because they are related. But they can also be not linked because they are independent. The same with here. But that is not the case for now. If the page isn't protected by now, users that didn't follow the dispute resolution process may be blocked due to disrupting the peace. So that is why the page is protected now, not only because of the issue, but to prevent further users to be blocked. --~~ThePokémonFanSince1995~~-- 01:59, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
If it sounded rude, then sorry for that! But that's actually the fault of ForceFire and not even of Kogoro, because as you can see my Talk page, he does not trusts on Nichiket sir (Hungama dub voice actor for Ash Ketchum)'s FB page and everyone know that that page is real page of Nichiket sir. Everytime faltugiri (sillyness)! That's why it's his fault. If I am still sounding rude, then sorry for that, but in our country (India) people have the freedom of speech and I will go according to my country and you go according to your country! So simple! Yash Sen 14:06, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
Yash Sen, I told you in the above section to stop with the constant complaining about the article being protected. That does not mean you can shift your complaints to another section or talk page. The article is protected, and it will not be unprotected any time soon if this continues to be the general attitude regarding the action taken. The decision is final, and no more complaints regarding it will be accepted. If anyone has any questions regarding the protection of the article, they may ask me via email. My email address is listed on my user page. This talk page section is officially closed, and further comments will not be tolerated. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 15:56, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

If only I knew

Apparently I never noticed that we did have the Inkipedia link template when I added that reference to Pokémon in Splatoon. Guess I really need to keep myself up to date on things. Thanks for that little reminder. Berrenta (talk) 05:00, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

No need to worry! We've been trying to make sure that new NIWA and EP members have their interwiki prefix & link template set up within 24 hours of their joining being officially public. To check if a prefix has been set up, you can just check Special:Interwiki or the interwiki log. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 15:38, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

Blacklist

This is perhaps just a technicality, but Hoopa is out in Japan this month (in fact, I think the pre-release one is already circulating), so it should be moved up to the rest of the Gen. VI list. CycloneGU (talk) 16:09, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

That's not all that important to worry about. I'll change it the next time there's an important reason to update the title blacklist. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 15:38, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
I agree, I just wanted to point it out for next time. No worries. CycloneGU (talk) 21:18, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

Unable to contact you via email! :(

Maybe I don't know the way how to email by using your contact details or it's not working. Please don't mind it but as I am not able to contact you via email (if you help me in this, it would be a great help), I am telling you this here. As PikaTepig has requested here for some edits, can you please make those edits please!? Yash Sen 17:57, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Oh! I noticed that User:Abcboy added those all info 2 or 3 hours ago! Yash Sen 13:16, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
For personal reasons, I do not have Special:EmailUser active. If you wish to contact me via email, you would have to do so via the email website or program you use to check your email. As previously noted, my email address is listed on my user page in the information bar on the right side. I'm glad to see the issues have been handled. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 15:38, 14 July 2015 (UTC)
Clicking that button launches an emailing Microsoft software and the main problem is that, I don't know how to use it. Yash Sen 17:06, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

Rayquaza pronunciation

There have been conflicting pronunciations, but a JWittz states and from having the game myself, the offfial Pokedex 3D Pro says that it's name is Rayquaza with quazar as it's suffix - unsigned comment from Theexploringgamer2 (talkcontribs)

I have left a note on your talk page detailing the reasons why we do not have pronunciations on our species articles. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 15:23, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

Poképédia

Hello just wanted to say that the Pokédédia link on main page is should link to fr:Portail:Accueil instead of fr:Accueil like it is now. --Raltseye (talk) 10:11, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

TehPerson's block

I saw your message on TehPerson's talk page. You said to stop editing move variations. And that's exactly what they did, moving to Ability variations instead. So I don't think it's right to block TehPerson for editing Ability variations when it was actually not in any way clear that you might have meant to not edit those as well. TehPerson was not being insubordinate. Tiddlywinks (talk) 22:38, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

I realize it's too late now to strictly fix anything here. I also realize it may have been a fairly small issue in the grand scheme of things. However, I would still be much reassured to know that you acknowledge it was a mistake. I think authority figures have a certain responsibility to own up to a mistake in the use of their power (regardless of whether it can be undone). Otherwise you are fostering a modicum of uncertainty (with all due respect: a "chilling effect", in short) for users who interact with you in the future. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:14, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Supposing you missed this, let me just repeat that I still want an answer here. Thanks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:58, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
Going into the weekend, let me remind you I'm still waiting for an answer. I don't think this is a hard question to answer (one way or the other), so if on Sunday there's still no response here, I'll try broaching this question with other staff instead. Thanks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 13:26, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
If TehPerson has a complaint regarding the action taken, he is more than welcome to come and discuss it with me. Other people's blocks are really not your concern, and it's not appropriate to continuously harass staff members if they don't respond to you as quickly as you desire them to. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 13:40, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
If we want to find fault, there's plenty to find on either side here. Whether it was intentional or not, you have to acknowledge the incongruity of missing/skipping this multiple times while responding elsewhere. I had no way to know what to think about that.
In the meantime, thank you for the response. Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:20, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

Pokemon groomers move rejected

Could I inquire as to the reason staff felt Pokémon groomer should not be moved? I don't presume I have any power to influence the decision in any way, but I would very much like to know.

Sort of as an aside: do you think there might be any alternative solution to the problem I wanted to solve, or do you expect that Pokémon groomer will more or less remain just as it is forever? Tiddlywinks (talk) 07:23, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

We did research regarding the current title of the article. Per official publications, Pokémon groomers give Pokémon "beauty/spa treatments" to increase their friendship with their Trainer. The subject of "beauty/spa treatments" is entirely inclusive of things beyond simply giving Pokémon haircuts or fur brushing, such as giving Pokémon massages. So, while the term hasn't been specifically used in reference to masseurs in recent Pokémon titles, the existing term still adequately covers them until an official term changes such. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 19:54, 16 July 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, I can work with that. ^_^ Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:14, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Emerald gifs

Hey Kogoro, I noticed that there are a few more protected templates that are calling on the Emerald gifs. The major ones are: {{Pokémon/3}}, {{Pokémon/3/Contest}}, {{Sprite}}, {{Sprite/Ja}}, {{Sprite/3/fossil}} (which probably should be protected as well), {{Spr}}, {{User No Swim}}, and {{User Invisible}}. Out side of that, there are just a few random protected pages, most archieved, which are calling on the gifs. Also, side note: I know that you're working on a newer version of the {{sidegame}}, but can the use of the Pinball and Trozei! gifs be switched there as well? Thanks! Adamws (talk) 17:46, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

All the Emerald sprites that you have listed here should now be updated, don't hesitate to throw me another list of protected locations still using the .gif sprites if there's any others. As for Pinball & Trozei, they'll be converted with the upgrade to the new templates. The old template is a highly used giant mess of code, and editing it would likely cause some unneeded downtime. It won't hurt anything for the .gif files to be used there for a little while longer. Thanks, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 10:16, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
Ok, the last of the Emerald gifs can be found at the following: Bulbapedia talk:Project Pokédex/Archive 2 (Bulbasaur), User talk:TTEchidna/Archive Sept 07 (Pikachu, Politoad), Bulbapedia:James/Gardenia poll (Arcanine, Ditto, and Pikachu Trozei! Brawl/Archive 2 (Magikarp), User talk:Kenji-girl/Archive 23 (Shiny Magikarp), Talk:Sabrina's Haunter/Archive 1 (Kangaskhan, Wobbuffet, Spinda), User talk:TTEchidna/Archive Nov-Dec 07 (Kangaskhan, Wobbuffet, Spinda, and Pikachu Trozei! Gif), User talk:Diglettdude911 (Pichu), Talk:Invisible Shiny Bulbasaur (Politoad), User:SlowBro/sprite comments (Ho-oh), User:OminousWind (Torchic, Rayquaza), and User:Chiefboz/TR (Rayquaza). There are also a few used in BulbaNews and are found at: n:User:Blaziken3000 (Blaziken), n:User:BulbapediaIsAwesome (Chikorita), n:Pokémon sprites, art evolve over the years, Part 2 (Jynx), and n:User talk:Donnaclus (Rayquaza).
As for the Pinball and Trozei! gifs, I understand your reasoning. The reason why I had requested the switch was more or less the same reason, preventing server lag in the Archives when deleting the massive amount of images that have piled up. Thanks! Adamws (talk) 00:23, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
Apologies for the delay in response, all of these should be fixed. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 12:47, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

Userpage revocation

Please undo the revocation of me editing my own userpage. I will not edit others' userpages anymore, I will just edit my own.Jskylinegtr (talk) 03:46, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

That's not how it works, Jskylinegtr. The revocation is a consequence of your choice to blatantly ignore staff direction regarding the rules, and continuing to edit other people's userpages for unnecessary reasons such as to force your personal predictions onto their predictions. The bare minimum time your userspace privileges will be revoked is one month, until such time as we feel you're going to respect the rules. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 11:54, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
Ok, now, just undo the revocation for my own userspace only, just allow me to edit my own userspace. Jskylinegtr (talk) 04:13, 26 July 2015 (UTC)
That's not possible. You're either locked out of the entire userspace, or you can edit the entire userspace. Since we're unable to trust you to have userspace privileges, they will remain revoked until we feel you're going to respect the rules. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 17:49, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
I agree I am going to respect the rules, will not edit anyone else's userspace Jskylinegtr (talk) 03:23, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
Again, that's not how it works. You were informed of the policy, you were trusted to follow it, and you breached that trust by continuing to violate the policy. Now you have to actually earn that trust back before we will restore your userspace privileges. Not by saying you will follow the rules, but by actually following the rules and editing solely to help improve Bulbapedia. Your userspace privileges will not be restored, and continuing to ask for your privileges back will only further delay them being restored. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 16:18, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
I am following the rules, by editing in the mainspace, by fixing errors, now i need it back, not indefinite. Jskylinegtr (talk) 03:45, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
I will just edit some pages, then get it back, once, i consistently follow the rules. Jskylinegtr (talk) 09:52, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
Made a lot of mainspace edits, is this editing enough to get it back? Jskylinegtr (talk) 13:14, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
As I told you before, your userspace privileges will be restored when the Editorial Board feels you have earned them back, and asking for them to be restored will not result in them being restored. Do not ask about it again, it will simply happen when it happens. Further comments to this section will not be considered, as the matter is closed. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:22, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

I want the editorial board to track my progress, I will get it back once the progress bar is 100%, and will focus on editing game articles, best edit i did is all caps problem with Poké Transfer.Jskylinegtr (talk) 09:55, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Why did you protect Tom Wayland?

I didn't see any edit wars or anything. Was it because of controversy over recent allegations? Technickal (talk) 18:30, 4 August 2015 (UTC)

I believe the reason for the protection is pretty obvious. It's not something we care to comment on. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 00:57, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

Area Pages for Pokémon Shuffle

Has a decision been made on the page split project for Pokémon Shuffle? It's been over a month since the project was initially completed, pending other additions for new updates on the proposed pages, and I'm getting ready to prep an Escalation Battles page to add to that proposal as there is a significant amount of data pulled on the various stages (I think 21 in total) available on the Darkrai edition of the event; Cresselia also had a lot that I can go back and acquire, as well.

Turns out the new data puller is also getting all of the disruption data and Pokémon who default on the stage as well if support slots are empty, so each area page can now be expanded over time to have individual stage data under the summarized stage info, resulting in very detailed pages, so that will keep me busy provided it's approved. Apparently the updates in the single (huge!) initial report on that pastebin date back to 1.1.5 or something like that, so there might still be something (like Mew) missing; I'll see about that. CycloneGU (talk) 03:39, 19 August 2015 (UTC)

A decision has not been made yet. I will inform you when we have a decision finalized. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:10, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
Alrighty, I am eagerly awaiting this either way. Been waiting to do other updates based on the pending decision. (Just so they don't have to all be redone later.) CycloneGU (talk) 20:21, 21 August 2015 (UTC)

Template:Ytu

It's currently broken.

Bulbagarden's YouTube channel

Fix: Bulbagarden's YouTube channel

This issue has priority because Template:YouTubeVid uses Template:Ytu and is still in use. A recent example of the issues this causes: here and here. Links to Google+ YouTube channel IDs are always broken but old YouTube channel IDs are fine, though. SatoMew2 (talk) 22:18, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

UPDATE: Further patched it to use HTTPS URLs (which reminds me of this; it's 2015 and Wikipedia now strictly uses HTTPS). SatoMew2 (talk) 22:47, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
Both YouTube templates are now updated to use the existing 2 parameter for the link needed, whether it be user or channel, and the new name parameter to allow the link text to be a proper name. I have also updated the wp prefix on the interwiki table to use https. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:53, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. I still think that the extra work we put on ourselves is not worth it because YouTube videos are direct sources in themselves, and they already link to the author properly.
And Template:YouTubeVid is not really broken. Template:YouTubeEmbed thus seems unnecessary, especially when the YouTube widget it uses is far more limited than the EmbedVideo extension used by "YouTubeVid". I've been playing around with this here and here.
Also, Template:Ytu is now deprecated and unused so it should be deleted. SatoMew2 (talk) 06:56, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
The YouTube user links are still broken. For Google+ channels, it should be youtube.com/channel/<channellink>, and for older accounts (with actual names in the URLs) it should be youtube.com/user/<username>. Currently, it's using youtube.com/<username>, which usually works for older accounts (not sure if it fails for some of them though), but does not work for Google+ channels. Here is the fix I did on Bulbanews, if you're interested in implementing it that way. --SnorlaxMonster 13:41, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
Well, you could just add "channel/" yourself but, since you mentioned this, then don't forget that there is a third channel ID URL type, youtube.com/c/<anything>. The best solution is to drop the pointless names from the template altogether since they try to solve a problem that doesn't exist. "YouTubeVid" just needs to be fixed and EmbedVideo doesn't have to be replaced with the YouTube widget. Here's how my template looks on mobile Bulbapedia, by the way. Also, there will always be loading issues if a page has too many embedded videos, regardless of template, extension, or widget. SatoMew2 (talk) 15:43, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
Here's the code for my template, in case you decide to fix "YouTubeVid", which would be the best call (I don't want my userspace edits to be merged with mainspace): <div>{{#ev:youtube|{{{1|1}}}|{{{2|}}}|{{{3|}}}|{{{4|}}}|{{{5|}}}}}</div>. Parameter 1 is the ID, 2 is for the dimensions, 3 is for alignment, 4 is for descriptions, and 5 is for wrapping the video player in a MediaWiki thumbnail box using frame (source). In a way, it's like what we do with images. SatoMew2 (talk) 16:34, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
Can you also update the interwiki link table so that Template:Jwp uses HTTPS as well? SatoMew2 (talk) 16:35, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
@SnorlaxMonster: While your fix works fine for Bulbanews, it's not something we can use on Bulbapedia as we're trying to avoid extraneous use of parser functions on articles due to their negative effect on load times. The changes I made to the templates work, but require the articles to be modified slightly to get back up to date.
@SatoMew2: The names aren't pointless, and you really need to drop the crusade against them. Bulbapedia strives to attribute the videos before the reader uses the play button. The EmbedVideo extension is not to be used, and only remains installed for legacy purposes, the only approved embedding format is {{YouTubeEmbed}}. Your "template" will not be used. {{YouTubeVid}} will not be updated to include videos again, as it's been replaced by {{YouTubeEmbed}} for cases where embedding is necessary. {{YouTubeVid}} should be used in cases where there's too many videos, and some have to be relegated to being linked instead of embedded (for load time purposes). The jwp interwiki prefix has been updated. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:47, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
It has occurred to me that {{YouTubeVid}} says "Videos are currently unavailable on Bulbapedia; instead, you can watch the video on YouTube here." However, the embed template does work at this point in time, so they actually are "available". Could YouTubeVid's text be changed somehow? Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:49, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
The right thing to do is inform people that the template is deprecated and should be replaced with {{YouTubeEmbed}} or regular links. And {{Ytu}} needs to be deleted since it's not needed anymore. SatoMew 13:47, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
@Tiddlywinks; I've changed the wording to be specific that the individual videos using YTV aren't available on-wiki, rather than videos in general.
@SatoMew2; YTV isn't depreciated. If it was depreciated, it would have the archived template notice on it. It's appropriate to use in cases where a specific video shouldn't be embedded. {{ytu}} is still used in some userspace pages, and doesn't really need to be deleted. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:21, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
The only reason I stated it was deprecated is your statement that it's OK to use direct links for videos. Since the only purpose of the template is to embed a YouTube player with some Bulbapedia-esque additions, it makes no sense to keep using it if people are not going to watch videos with it (that's what {{YouTubeEmbed}} is for, after all). There is simply no reason to make this more messy. サトミュウ (SatoMew) 23:19, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Vector skin

You may or may not be aware but Vector has become the default MediaWiki skin since 2010. It replaces the old MonoBook that is still used on Bulbapedia. Anyone, particularly non-editors, can use Bulbapedia with Vector (try it yourself), effectively getting rid of the ads without registering an account.

My suggestion to you is that you stop using MonoBook and "Bulbafy" Vector so that it becomes the wiki's new look. Here's how TCRF looks with Vector since it became their new look a while back (old look for comparison).

Additionally, please get rid of the right-sidebar ads as they continuously break the wiki's layout, especially templates. The pop-up ads at the bottom (like the ones advertising Bulbanews) are obnoxious too. SatoMew2 (talk) 23:29, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

We have no interest at this time to use Vector as our default skin, we're happy with Monobook. As for issues & complaints regarding adverts, you will need to take that up with Archaic on the BMGf. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:53, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
OK, but could you apply Template:Bulba color or its variants to the background of both MonoBook and Vector? It will fit with the wiki's identity better. As to the ads, can't you at least enable them for Vector? SatoMew2 (talk) 06:56, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
Changing the background colors of the two skins is quite minor, but we'll consider some options if we have time to spare on it. As for ads, I am not able to add them to Vector, as the ads are handled by our server techs. If you want to suggest ads being on Vector, you will need to go to Archaic. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:47, 1 September 2015 (UTC)

Shuffkle Reorg So Far

Pokémon Shuffle is now down to 48,578 bytes from a peak of 158,052 bytes at 02:25, 5 September 2015. The last edit removed 53,622 bytes for special stage data alone (this does not count the regular and expert stages, which initially removed 41,696 of data to replace it with a table of areas). I do have a concern, once I get around to expanding stage data onto that page (in the manner I'll be expanding the area pages), that the Special Stages page will itself come close to or exceed the 100,000 bytes mark; this and the large volume of related information is the reason why I determined that Escalation Battle (also now a userpage I will be independently working on to organize information off of the live page for later use on the live page) and Competitive Stage, at a minimum, needed separate pages, and why I wanted to treat Pokémon Safari and The Daily Pokémon as if they were areas due to having 15 and 20 Pokémon respectively. In total, there are 68 unique events, more than twice as many as just stages in either Wacky Workshop or Pedra Valley. It's all right for now, and this is a good start, but the expansion will be needed later or we'll have another huge and complex page for users to find their way around when it's fully expanded and with even more events on the page. There will be no problem expanding the table to later include various special stage pages, even those that anchor to a miscellaneous events page, or even creating a separate special stages table with those links, but one thing at a time. =)

Other than configuring data around Escalation Battle, I'll be working now on individual area page expansion and can finally go ahead with updating sidegames data. I'll discuss that project further with Ht14, whom I discussed it with previously, before going through every page; I have all the data already entered into a Notepad document for the first 649 Pokémon and can continue editing 650-719 for any formatting changes. Pokemon in South's Asia

Since you have protected this page... I want to draw you attention toward the changes needed on the page... on 31st August... Hangama TV started airing new episode from where it left... and on 16th September it aired AG001. Someone has to edit it.Epsilon Master (talk) 06:57, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

It appears that the mentioned requests have been handled by abcboy. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:21, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Creative Commons license

I'm curious. Is there anything preventing Bulbapedia from updating the license to its current version that is better suited for international operations (which Bulbapedia certainly has, otherwise it'd be inaccessible or at least more limited for those outside the US such as myself)? It is even recommended that the new version of the license be used. SatoMew 17:36, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

I've passed this onto Archaic, he'll look into it when he is able. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 05:21, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
OK, thanks. サトミュウ (SatoMew) 23:19, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Template:J

Would it be possible to make its usage in regular text obligatory or at least recommended? We use it to style Japanese text but I don't know if Bulbapedia is using any particular CSS for it. The most visible advantage of using the template is in Blink-based browsers like Chromium and its derivatives (Google Chrome, Opera, etc.). Take Serena's Eevee article as an example. Here's how it looks before and after styling the Japanese text in the lead with the template. Notice how {{AnimePokémonInfobox}} is already using the same code as {{J}} anyway (the HTML span tag with the lang attribute set to "ja"). This assures that the presentation of the text is consistent. サトミュウ (SatoMew) 23:19, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

We'll look into this template and try to have an answer for you as soon as possible. But I currently can't see any reason to not make it part of the MoS. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:07, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi, i made this for Kalos rival's in the anime:

Is good enough for approval?? You have the power for put in a mainspace?? --Hikaru Wazana (talk) 14:00, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

Pokemon Conquest

I've picked it up again and wanna ask someone - any hope of getting this project off the ground at last? Drake Clawfang (talk) 14:40, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

We have looked into this a bit, when we have had time to put into it. We can't really see an ideal implementation for the template, mainly that any option is going to have one sort of issue or another. However, in general, Tiddlywinks's modification from your template appears to be the better implementation of the options we've been able to consider. As long as all of the sub-templates that are needed have been created, we can work toward starting the project. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:07, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
I'd be more for using Tiddlywink's modification as well. It seems to be perfectly functional, and I'd be willing to implement on the mainspace pages.
Also, I'm trying to work on a separate template, for Warriors, at User:Drake Clawfang/Sandbox. Do you know of someone with knowledge of coding that could lend me a hand? I have some concepts I want to implement but don't know how. Drake Clawfang (talk) 17:42, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
As an afterthought; what issues are there with the current incarnation? I cannot speak for Tiddlywinks, but I'd be willing to try and tweak the template design to be more optimal. In general, I'd like to do anything I can to help move these along. Drake Clawfang (talk) 17:47, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

page titles as redirects

For pages that got their move nominations rejected, would it be okay to leave the pages that were suggested titles as redirects since they aren't going to be moved at anytime? PattyMan 22:53, 5 October 2015 (UTC)

Only in cases where the rejected title would be reasonably searched for. If the suggested idea was incredibly obscure, there's little point to making a redirect that is extremely unlikely to ever be used. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:07, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

Template use

When using the {{Split}}, {{Merge}}, {{Move}}, and {{DiscussDelete}} templates, you stated in the messege from the editor (hope it was you) the one should add "a section outlining the rationale for the nomination must be added to the article's talk page. Nominations lacking an outlined rationale will no longer be considered." but what if you have stated your reason on another talk page and refers to that talk page in the edit summary while adding the move template can you ignore this rule then? --Raltseye 14:59, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

It would be ideal that, in the possible cases why multiple articles would be nominated together, a section be created on one talk page for the discussion, and sections created on the talk pages of the other articles directing users to the discussion. Then, regardless of the nominee someone happens to find the nomination on, they can find the discussion without having to scour the revision history. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:07, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
Okay, thank you. I will remember and apply this in future cases.
While I'm at it could you merge this page with this page. Thank you --Raltseye 01:37, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
That nomination is on the Editorial Board's list of merges to consider. We don't process such moves, splits, or merges until they have been approved by EB vote. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:40, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
Oh okay, well, thank you anyway. --Raltseye 01:43, 17 October 2015 (UTC)

A bug is not a glitch, period.

And Nintendo always uses "bug", not "glitch". If you think it's pedantic, then feel free to go ahead and revert the move to friendship from "happiness" since the logic is the exact same ("people use this term over this one, despite being incorrect, so we'll stick to it"). This isn't a case like species strengths vs. base stats either. SatoMew2 (talk) 10:31, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

You're comparing apples and oranges. It was not an arbitrary decision, nor did I make it alone. We're sticking with glitch, so you'll just have to learn to live with it. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:07, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
Maybe it wasn't but I'll stick to keeping accurate, correct, and sourced information (which is the declared goal of the wiki in the first place). SatoMew2 (talk) 01:39, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
