Jessie returned once again in the {{series|XY}}, following Ash to the [[Kalos]] [[region]]. She also regained Wobbuffet as part of her team as of ''[[BW142|The Dream Continues!]]'' and became a Pokémon Performer.

In ''[[XY060|A Showcase Debut!]]'', Jessie entered the Rookie Class [[Pokémon Showcase]] that was being held in [[Coumarine City]] under the alias Jessilee (''Japanese: Musavie''). In the first round, she competed against [[Shauna]] and [[Alouette]] using her Pumpkaboo, which she dressed up as a scarecrow. Jessie however had misunderstood what she meant to do, as the point of the Showcase was to show off the Pokémon's beauty whereas she had chosen to make Pumpkaboo as scary as possible. As a result, she was the least voted Performer and thus was eliminated from the competition.

In ''[[XY063|A Fork in the Road! A Parting of the Ways!]]'', Jessie and {{TP|Jessie|Wobbuffet}} got lost after blasting off when trying to steal {{AP|Pikachu}}. As she and Wobbuffet searched for James and Meowth they came across a wild {{p|Gloom}} which Jessie tried to shoo away by shoving sand at it, but instead it used {{m|Stun Spore}} on her and Wobbuffet causing them to fall into the river. Jessie was saved by [[Dr. White]] from drowning and Wobbuffet was saved by Dr. White's female Wobbuffet and three Wynaut. Dr. White took Jessie and Wobbuffet back to his clinic in order to recover. There, Jessie noticed the two Wobbuffet had a connection and started to fall in love with Dr. White. Later, after being found out by Ash and his friends, Jessie confided in them that she was done with Team Rocket. Unbeknownst to Jessie, James and Meowth were listening in on the conversation, but they didn't do anything to try and stop her. After realizing Dr. White didn't have feelings for her, and learning that {{TP|Jessie|Pumpkaboo}}, Inkay, and Meowth were captured by a Pokémon Hunter, Jessie decided to leave Wobbuffet behind and save her friends. As she was rescuing her friends, Wobbuffet came back to her and helped her. At the end of the episode, she was seen holding flowers that Dr. White gave her as a gift, but she decided to stick with her friends instead.

Jessie and James are some of the taller characters in the anime. They are much taller than Ash and all of his companions, showing that they are older. Jessie has sapphire blue eyes, red lips, and green earrings that stay on always, even in most disguises. Jessie's hair is long and curved, and some fans have pointed out that it makes her look like an "R", as in Team Rocket, when she stands a certain way. Her hair color changed from dark pink in [[S01|Pokémon: Indigo League]] to crimson in most hand-colored episodes to magenta starting in ''[[EP261|Here's Lookin' at You, Elekid!]]'', and the shade continues to vary. Along with James, she wears her Team Rocket uniform constantly, except when in disguise. Her uniform is a long sleeve white cropped turtleneck with a bright red "R", long black gloves, a tight and very short white skirt, and thigh high black boots.

 

It is revealed in ''[[EP048|Holy Matrimony!]]'' that Jessie is almost identical in appearance to James's fiancée, [[Jessiebelle]], with the two of them having virtually identical faces and the only noticeable physical differences between them being eye color, hairstyle, slightly different hair colors, and different earrings. Meowth in particular takes notice of this and frequently reminds Jessie of the fact throughout the episode, something she takes strong offense to due to Jessiebelle's reprehensible personality. By the time the subject of Jessiebelle is breached again in ''[[DP002|Two Degrees of Separation!]]'', she seems to have forgotten about her doppelganger and needs Meowth to remind her of who she is. The resemblance between the two was further explored in ''[[DP153|The Treasure is All Mine!]]'' when she disguised herself as Jessiebelle in order to grant herself, James, and Meowth, entrance into one of James's family mansions without James having to do so himself.
