Since I don't want to edit war with fellow admins, I'll clear up the recent issue about the Japanese name here. Several users have removed the trivia that explains why Draco Meteor is a Dragon-type move because it's obvious. However, this was just because the article had incorrect translation for the Japanese name: "Dragon Meteor Shower". However, the correct translation of りゅうせいぐん is simply "Meteor Shower"; "Dragon Meteor Shower" would be りゅうりゅうせいぐん. This means that the move's typing is based on a pun (just like {{m|Twister}}, {{m|Curse}}, {{p|Glalie}}'s appearance, and Pokémon that can have {{a|Cloud Nine}} etc.) and should be explained in trivia section.--'''[[User:Dennou Zenshi|<font color="#AB0909">電</font><font color="#063A73">禅</font>]]<small>[[User talk:Dennou Zenshi|<font color="#fff" face="Tahoma"><span style="text-shadow:#000 0.2em 0.1em 0.1em; class=texhtml">Den Zen</span></font>]]</small>''' 21:03, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

Hmmmm

Why is there a need to put under the page "move"? Jayh272416 09:08, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

It's just the way things are done on the site. Don't worry about it.--OmegaPlatinum 04:03, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Draco Meteor trivia

I remember this is the move that was designed by some Japanese fan around April to June 2006. Was his or her name ever published? --Johans Nidorino 21:18, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

When I saw this move, the first thing I thought of was Harry Potter's enemy, Draco Malfoy ... Hehe. Tesh 21:28, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

No, there will not be a Psychic move called Trelawney Meteor. TTEchidna 00:56, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Would be funny if there was... :] Tesh 14:43, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

BTW, if anyone is interested in investigating who was that fan, remember the press first translated "りゅうせいぐん" as "Meteoric Swarm". --Johans 02:11, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

That, or "Comet Swarm" because 「りゅうせい」 translates to Comet. Though one can argue that it can also be broken down to 「りゅう」 (Dragon) 「せい」 (Star) 「ぐん」 (Army or Cluster), it makes less sense this way therefore making the former translation more accurate. --HechEff 11:01, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Mew?

Mew's page says it can't learn this... Which page is right?

Mew can't. Dragon-types only. Arceus can't even learn it unless it becomes a Dragon-type. TTEchidna 20:59, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Before anyone else inquires, no, Mew can't learn Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, or Hydro Cannon either. For one, none of those three was ever a TM, unlike the other move tutors in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. Secondly, how would the old woman at Cape Brink be able to know which move you'd be trying to teach it? --Shiningpikablu252 21:13, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
I think the mention of Mew should be removed from the article entirely. Mew is not "supposedly able to learn every move", it is able to learn every Machine. Doesn't it say below in red not to misrepresent misconceptions as fact? --ZellMurasame 16:36, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
In FR/LG/E, it can learn every tutor move except the not-so-great Elemental Beams. Hence why we mention it. Tina δ 16:39, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Yes but as it is stated above, those were never Technical or Hidden Machines. So it would make sense that they could (and are) excluded. Every tutor move Mew learns is already a TM. --ZellMurasame 16:44, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Flamethrower wasn't before Gen II (though it would become one). I also cite Mew's Pokédex entry for FireRed: "A Pokémon from South America that was thought to have been extinct. It is very intelligent and learns any move." And as well, let me cite the entry for Pearl: "Many scholars regard it as the ancestor of Pokémon since it can use all known moves." I've added the emphasis, of course. I merely added the disclaimer because it says repeatedly in the games that Mew can learn any move. Not any machine move, but any move, period. And so the games are liars and we must attest to this. TTEchidnaFire echyGSDS! 20:15, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
I was thinking that Mew could be "able to learn" these moves if they were just random specialized moves, but Mew is just "not allowed to" in a sense, because of their meaning and purpose. The meaning and purpose of these moves (to be tailor-made for the starters and the Dragon-type Pokémon) is what disallows the tutors to teach them to Mew. They're like regular move tutors, except that they have an extra condition in their programming. If Volt Tackle weren't an Egg move but a tutor move for the Pikachu family, such move tutor would probably not allow Mew to learn Volt Tackle. And yeah... That second paragraph sounds a little trivia-like; its first sentence would be enough IMO. --Johans 16:34, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Is it really accurate to say that Draco Meteor is the only TM, HM, or tutor move that Mew can't learn, when the elemental hyper beams are also tutor moves that Mew can't learn? I think the trivia should have a qualification of some sort. - Buddy Christ

Mew can learn it. Mine did. The only reason why other people's Mews can't, is because their Mews' happiness isn't high enough. If anyone has a legit Mew, load it up with vitamins, and bring it to the Draco Meteor tutor. Then, you'll see that it can learn it. Baby G 13:37, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Mew can learn it. The Mew just has to be legit, and its happiness rating has to be max. Try it yourself before assuming wrong stuff. Baby G 20:26, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Wrong. Bulbapedia does not tolerate the insertion of false information. You're basically demanding that we insert that Mew can learn a move that it cannot learn just because you claim it can through your usage of a cheat device. People have already tried what you're asking them to do, with legit Mew no less, and not a single one of them successfully got Draco Meteor when they tried to get it. It's been known since the tutor was first discovered that Mew can't learn Draco Meteor.
Additionally, this precedent of a Move Tutor being unable to teach a move to Mew isn't even new to Generation IV. Mew couldn't learn Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn, and Hydro Cannon in FireRed and LeafGreen, and it still can't in Diamond and Pearl. By your logic, Mew can learn all three of those moves in both pairs of games, yet it's been prove that Mew cannot learn any of them.
Case in point: Please accept the fact that Mew cannot legally learn Draco Meteor. End of story. --Shiningpikablu252 20:32, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
I got my Action Replay in August 2007, and I taught Mew the move in June 2007. I had no cheating devices beforehand. Baby G 20:34, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Then your copy of the game is fake. A real copy of the game would never glitch out and allow a Pokémon to learn a move it wouldn't normally be able to learn. Only a fake game or a cheating device could even hope for a move tutor to teach a move to a Pokémon that can't learn it in real, unaltered copies of the game. --Shiningpikablu252 20:40, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
If it's fake, then I suppose every copy from GameStop is fake. Not to mention I got my copy on the day of Diamond & Pearl's release after waiting in line for about 3 hours. Baby G 20:43, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Then you're probably lying about the whole thing just to get us to give in to your will. Well, it won't work. This is the last straw. We do not take too kindly to people who try to bully sysops into inserting false information that the sysop knows is false. Please stop with this tirade before you find yourself blocked. --Shiningpikablu252 20:52, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

ok so everyone is saying mew cannot learn the move except for fake games or cheating devices then how come they give you a mystery gift mew that has draco meteor and the pokemon is not able to learn it in the actual game and the pure fact that it could not learn frenzy plant blast burn or hydro cannon why can the creators self contradict their own work in making or doing such a thing and why can jirachi learn the move if it mainly can only be taught to dragon types and not psychic does any one know how to sort that out or even try to point this out in their discussion of this topic. [FrostX]

First off, this conversation ended two years before you posted. Please do not add to a conversation more than six months old, per the talk page policy. Second of all, some event Pokémon such as the Jirachi and Mew you mentioned) are given moves that they specifically cannot learn through regular means, as a way to add to their rarity. The creators are not contradicting themselves, they are just giving out rare Pokémon with unique moveset possibilities.--RiverAura 23:16, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Sketching it!

Can Smeargle actually 'learn' the move Draco Meteor? I thought that it could just use through Sketch. Also, can't pokémons knowing the move Metronome use this move? :Misty-May-Dawn rulz 13:17, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Sketch causes Smeargle to actually learn the targeted move. Permanently. In this way, Smeargle is the only Pokémon able to haveFrenzy Plant, Blast Burn, Hydro Cannon, and Draco Meteor in the same moveset. ****, it can have any four moves in the game in the same moveset! Can Mew do that? No. --Shiningpikablu252 13:19, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
OK, but even then, Pokémons like Clefable which know Metronome, even they can use this move, can't they? Misty-May-Dawn rulz 06:32, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Yes, they can. --Johans 08:30, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

quick question about that and this is bc my game data had to be retarted so i no longer have a mew but in the later games cant mew learn the move sketch from a move tutor like you can do with smeargle or is it just that impossible and the pokedex contradicts the very game it exists in? [FrostX]

Sketch was never a move tutor move. Only Smeargle can learn it, and Smeargle learn it through leveling up. P.S. If you are going to use "retarded" in a derogatory fashion, at least have the decency to spell it properly.--RiverAura 23:16, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Trapinch...?

If a Horsea can learn it this way from Kingdra, surely a Trapinch can be bred with it from two Flygons that know Draco Meteor, while not actually being Dragon type. No?

Also, it says in the trivia right after three examples of non-Dragons that can learn it that every pokémon except Arceus gets STAB from it. Surely this needs slight tweaking...? Darien Shields 08:49, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

That's a mistake. A baby Pokémon can't learn moves from its parent if the baby species is incompatible with the move. Kevzo8 08:56, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

well im with you at the same time that im not because i have had a bagon that learned surf not sure how it happened then i mean my game was an official game and real and i have no gba action replay or codebreaker things like that so i cant really argue at this im kinda at a stand still [FrostX]

HG/SS?

Is there a Draco Meteor tutor in there? The article implies there is, whilst Serebii.net doesn't mention one. Missingno. Master wants YOU! Join the Order of the Glitch! (my talk page) 22:28, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Yea, Serebii is wrong. —darklordtrom 22:34, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Oh, good. Where is it? Missingno. Master wants YOU! Join the Order of the Glitch! (my talk page) 22:44, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Blackthorn City, of course. —darklordtrom 22:46, 5 October 2009 (UTC)

Repeat tutoring?

If you were to teach a pokemon draco meteor, could you come back and teach another pokemon draco meteor in the same game? XxMCScarredxX 02:51, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

yes you can but the pokemon has to be as happy as you can get it first.[FrostX]

Unova tutor

The Gym Leaders appear to be switched: it says Iris in Black and Drayden in White, when they battle you in the opposite versions. Should they be switched? Flicky1991 11:54, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

No, because the one that doesn't battle you is the one that teaches the move. Blazios 12:05, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

The ultimat move? Wrong!!!

On my white Drayden says that Draco Meteor is the strongest dragon move, but Roar of Time has a higher base power! Nickvang 19:28 26 june 2011

This could be that he may not know about it, Dialga being shrouded in mystery & from Sinnoh. AshKetchumNo.1 12:07, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
