The Key System menu

The Key System is a feature of the Unova Link introduced in Black 2 and White 2. There are three different options (Change Difficulty, Change City, and Mystery Door).

Change Difficulty

Easy Mode

Easy Mode decreases the level of the opponents Pokémon and decreases their Artificial intelligence (AI), greatly decreasing the difficulty of the battles. It can be unlocked after beating the Champion in Pokémon White 2.

Normal Mode

Normal Mode is the preset game mode the player goes through from the beginning of the game. The Pokémon levels and opponents AI are at the standard level.

Challenge Mode

Challenge Mode increases the level of certain opponents Pokémon and increases their AI, increasing the difficulty of the battles. It can be unlocked after beating the Champion in Pokémon Black 2. Additionally, this mode increases the number of opponents Pokémon. The number of levels a Pokémon increases varies, but it generally begins with one additional level at the start of the game up to five additional levels by the end, the rate steadily increasing as the game progresses.

Change City

Black City

After completing at least 5 areas of the Black Tower in Pokémon Black 2, you will be given the Black Tower key. This key can be transferred to Pokémon White 2 to gain access to Black City.

White Forest

After completing at least 5 areas of the White Treehollow in Pokémon White 2, you will be given the White Treehollow key. This key can be transferred to Pokémon Black 2 to gain access to White Forest.

Mystery Door

Iron Key

After catching Regirock in the Underground Ruins in Pokémon Black 2, you are given the Iron Key. This key can be transferred to Pokémon White 2 to gain access to the Iron Chamber, where you can catch Registeel.

Iceberg Key

After catching Regirock in the Underground Ruins in Pokémon White 2, you are given the Iceberg Key. This key can be transferred to Pokémon Black 2 to gain access to the Iceberg Chamber, where you can catch Regice.
