:::Well, Gligar had the excuse of limited Game Boy Color palettes in Generation II as well an excuse over the limited advent of online messaging 10 years ago, plus the fact that nobody would have even dare mistaken the coloration of any Gligar in the anime due to the fact that the anime's colors were nowhere near that of the alternate coloration. They could have left Gligar's colors the same and nobody would have even dare argued.
