Appendix:Emerald walkthrough/Section 1: Difference between revisions

When you start a new game, [[Professor Birch]] will be there to greet you. He will introduce himself and talk about his studies in Pokémon habitats. He runs you through the controls and then asks if you are boy or a girl. Choose your preferred gender (it doesn't matter which one you pick, it won't affect the storyline). Birch will then ask for your name.  Pick wisely—you will not be able to change your name or gender once you have started the journey.
