Like Torterra during its time as a Turtwig, Gible seems to enjoy latching onto Ash's head as well as other peoples' heads (at first, like Turtwig, it used to chomp onto Ash's and other people's heads but after a little while it seemed to just latch onto people's heads without actually hurting them). Later on, it showed its habit also included rocks and tree trunks, among other objects. Gible also has the ability to devour almost any kind of metals, seen when Gible devoured two of Team Rocket's giant robots, and half of a city park. Despite appearing to be quite gutsy, it is not very bright and is slow to understand simple requests or orders; on one occasion, it chewed away a section of rock despite it falling into a creek as a result, and still chewed at the rock underwater not seeming to realize it could drown and had to be saved by Buizel.

Ash used Gible in DP185 in his battle against Conway. Gible was called in when Conway's Shuckle proved to be to strong for both Donphan and Noctowl, and managed to stop Shuckle's gyro ball by catching it in his mouth. This didn't stop Shuckle however, who began firing Sludge Bombs in to Gible's mouth. Gible then used draco meteor to eject the Mold Pokémon from his mouth, knocking it out, and perfected Draco Meteor at the same time. Conway then sent out Lickilicky, who proceeded to vigorously lick Gible. Gible used Dig to evade, but Lickilicky's Power Whip launched Him out of the ground and in to the air, forcing Ash to recall him. Gible was called back in to the match after both Noctowl and Donphan were felled by Dusknoir. Gible was initially knocked down by a pair of Shadow Punches, but managed to turn the tide by clamping on to Dusknoir's hand when it prepared for a third punch. Using Draco meteor in the same way as with Shuckle, he sent Dusknoir high in to the air, only to come crashing down with the meteors. Gible then prepared a Dragon Pulse, which Conway had Dusknoir reply to with a fourth shadow punch. Gible however, managed to right itself in mid air and fired the attack, hitting Dusknoir and taking it out of the match, leaving Ash the victor and Gible completely exhausted.
Ash used Gible in DP185 in his Suzuran Conference battle against Conway. Gible was called in when Conway's Shuckle proved to be to strong for both Donphan and Noctowl. Gible managed to defeat Shuckle and perfected Draco Meteor at the same time. It was then briefly used against Lickilicky before being recalled. Finally, Gible was called out after Noctowl and Donphan fell to Dusknoir and after a tough battle, Gible defeated Dusknoir.
