Revision as of 03:51, 28 February 2010

In the official Japanese D/P stickerbook, which includes Gym Leader stickers, all names are spelt in Romaji. メリッサ is romanised Melissa (we already use this romanisation), マキシ is romanised Maxi (again, we already use that). However, there are three romanisation which we did not use. There are: デンジ as Denzi (instead of Denji) and トウガン as Tougan (instead of Tōgan) and ヒョウタ as Hyouta (instead of Hyōta). Since they're from official stickerbook, they are trademarked romanisation and we must use them. --Maxim 17:14, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Should we have the new Gym Leaders in the anime category this early? I mean, we all know what happened with Wallace. --FabuVinny 09:24, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

I think that once they appear, they certainly should. But not if the episode hasn't appeared yet. --TTEchidna 20:26, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Volkner's Ambipom knows Shock Wave, but I don't know which move is wrong right now. It only used Shock Wave and Baton Pass against me. -Wild Eep

Departure

Apparently, if it's true, Volkner will not be Sunyshore's Gym Leader. If so can this be added to the trivia of being the second final Gym Leader of a region to not be part of the main plot?

He is also the second final Gym Leader of a region to be replaced, after Wallace.

That is PURE speculation! I'm going to undo that edit and I think this page should be protected.--Quick Man 14:38, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

The edit was never there!--KukiTalk 14:42, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Who come with this speculation? The third game wasn't even revealed yet. So, how can you guess that Volkner will be replaced by someone else in that game? That's a piece of rubbish. Please don't come with such stupid theories. --Maxim 14:57, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

SEREBII.net[1]--KukiTalk 15:05, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Blue skY blog can't be quite believed. It used to spread fake information (the infamous Zak and three fake New Pokemon names). So, please don't be so excited about this. --Maxim 15:07, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
I think everyone's taking this with an appropriately large pinch of salt, so you don't need to worry about that. - Cassius335 17:02, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Seriously guys. Just wait until we know for definite. Don't go adding things that haven't been 100% confirmed yet :\ It was just leaked info, and normally "leaked info" turns out too be fake or a misconception Takoto タコト 17:17, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Plus, Regigigas with Levitate? And Shaymin, an event legend, with such prominence? And another type? As much as I'd love to see this stuff, isn't it a little too far-fetched? The new movie must have had a lot of impact on this... {{SUBST:User:Toastypk/Sig}} 02:54, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

This was probably made up just to match Wallace. But don't cancel it out just yet. We should leave the page for the while. David Aipom There are 3 reasons why this rumour has come about:

  • Volkner said in DP that he was going to challenge the Elite Four after challenging the player, so he went and left the Gym
  • The 2nd, is that people though along the lines of Wallace he was and 8th Gyn Leader and was then replaced (this could link in with the first as Volkner went to face the Elite Four and could have won) and became Champion.
  • 3rd not many people like Volkner, god he's dull and boring. Whatever 17:40, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
wtf? I think Volkner is by far the most interesting gym leader in DP. The fact that he actually had a backstory of sorts was awesome. Not saying the others didn't (Roark, Byron, Wake, and fantina also had backstories), but his was interesting and memorable in my opinion. Don't use your own opinion as evidence >_> ~RR~ 01:24, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Actually Volkner is the DP character with the highest number of fan arts so far, and Game Freak knows about this. They may be willing to give him more space and backstory because of his popularity though, but that's only speculation. --Rosy Crystal 10:55, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

So maybe they'll give him more fame and replace an elite 4 member with him? OrigamiGuy-T-C-M 11:34, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Trivia

What does "has nothing to do with the main plot" mean. (to answerers: I do know the game fairly well) Kanjo 16:31, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

It means he had nothing to do with the main plot of the game. The main plot of Diamond/Pearl, you should know, is about Cyrus trying to take control of Dialga/Palkia to become ruler of time/space, and Volkner was completely unrelated to it. - s.Combusken 17:16, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
I somehow remember it saying he was the only gym leader who had nothing to do with the main plot which is why I was curious. Kanjo 17:35, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Basically, Giovanni and Wallace were heavily involved in the plot and were the final gym leaders. I don't remember Clair being involved in a plot event aside from the Dragon's Den. --Jonouchi 19:44, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Quick question

In the article, in the quote section, he says "When I got my first Gym Badge", his he the only know Gym leader known to have gym badges? Would that be trivia?--Midnight Blue 00:35, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, I don't think so... The others could also have obtained Gym Badges in their youth, and just didn't talked about it. -- RikkiKitsune 00:39, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Alright, and we don't have enough evidence. But he is the only one to mention I think.--Midnight Blue 00:43, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
So, can I at least add, that he is the first, maybe I need to check, that has confirmed to been on a journey and has other gym badges.--Midnight Blue 02:15, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Actually isnt it somewhat comfirmed that Blue been on a journey for badges being previous champion? And in that case that whould go for very much every champion whouldent it? and maybe Elite Four even if games goes by the same rules as manga(I am aware of the manga being based on games though) where when a new champion is chosen the previous steps down to Elite Four. Altough this is just my guess MagPerior 22:29, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Trivia

Is it trivia to note that the amount of episodes between the gym battle with Candice in the anime and the gym battle with Volkner anime would be the biggest episode gap between two gym leaders in the same region? Turtwig A (talk | contribs) 00:51, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Yes, but I wouldn't put it here, I would put it on the episode page, or on the series page. —darklordtrom 07:34, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Brown or Blond?

Hey guys, I saw the episode very closely and I think volkner's hairs were brown instead of blond. What do you think? If yes, then I think we should mention it in the article. His hairs' color is totally similar to brown not blond. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 17:04, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

No. --ギザみみピチュー 話して 00:59, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
I dunno about that. Maybe you should ask Kenji-girl about that (I think she's head of the anime department), either that or another admin. Littlmiget123 01:09, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
No his hair is blond. It's blond on TCG cards, in the games and in the anime. Kthx. insomniac 01:18, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
He's got darker hair in the anime, but I think it's dirty blonde rather than brown... - D-Wheel 01:31, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
I looked at some screen shots and his hair did seem brown for whatever reason. I'm thinking the artists messed up, well hopefully because it doesn't make any sense. insomniac 02:38, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
How about this: Having both blond and uh... What would be a good name for his hair color? Like, olive or light brown or golden brown or something? Both in the infobox would be okay, I guess. Since it is kind of a large difference. Unlike, say, Blue. *cough* ▫▪Ťïňắ 02:46, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
I agree with Tina. Usually I'd say no, but on Flints page, there list two eye colors for both games and anime. I guess we could do it with his hair. --ギザみみピチュー 話して 02:49, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
So I guess everybody is agree for putting Brown in the info box along with Blond. Well then I am putting it in the info box. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 04:11, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
No, it's not brown. Dirty blond maybe, but definitely not brown. If we change anything in the infobox, it's to state that his hair is a darker blond in the anime than the games. 8/ 梅子 04:17, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Seriously? Its totally brown not dirty blond and not darker blond. You can clearly see the gigantic difference between the color. --♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 04:23, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
I think that it's dirty blonde. It is definetly not what the games are, maybe a shade or two darker? I think we should say dirty blonde for the anime in the infobox. Littlmiget123 04:25, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Luxray

on serebii it says that Volkner has a Luxray during his battle with Ash. Eevee obsessed 008

Our policy is "not until it airs." The episode has not aired yet. Volkner has not battled Ash yet. Therefore Luxray is hidden from view on the article for now. 梅子 23:54, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
