Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, TorchicBlaziken!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

 • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
 • Read over the style primer before making your edits. It is a basic outline of Bulbapedia style. For a more in-depth set of rules, see the manual of style.
 • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
 • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
 • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
 • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
 • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
 • The use of link templates is official policy.
 • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
 • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
 • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
 • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
 • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:TorchicBlaziken/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
 • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
 • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! ---- MAGNEDETH 22:40, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Spam

Hi. Don't take this the wrong way, but putting your general opinions of things in the talk pages of their articles is pretty much spamming them. It's not relevant to bulbapedia what you think of a certain song. That's what the forums are for. Try not to do that. --electAbuzzzz (TALK) 13:25, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Please

Slow down on editing the User: namespace. Editing your userpage too much will lead to it being locked again. Instead of making multiple small edits, why not instead use the preview button (Alt + Shift + P) to check your edits before saving the page? Thank you. --Porygon-Z 22:20, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Link Templates

Please use link templates when linking to stuff such as Pokémon names, attacks, and the like. For example, Octillery instead of just Octillery. This is so you don't unintentionally link to a disambiguation page.

For a full crash course on link templates, look at the list of link templates. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 07:23, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, that's not quite what I meant to say. You should never type out Ground-type, when Ground does the same thing. Check out that link in the last comment I left; the list of link templates provides information on all the LTs we have here and how to properly use them. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 07:27, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

you made an edit to the Dark-type page, and you used the P template (for Pokemon) but you did not use one for types. they are similar to the P template. Steel = Steel. simple! but, the weird one is the type2 template: Steel = Steel-type. -- MAGNEDETH 19:47, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Magikarp

Umm...why did you add that false piece of trivia? Magikarp is findable in Platinum. Chocolate 18:25, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

If it is, then you better delete the thing on the page that says it's not there. I know it's ridiculous.TorchicBlaziken (talk) 18:27, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Debonairs

WTF? --Maxim 19:11, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

I guess you haven't done the Darkrai mission yet...TorchicBlaziken (talkedits) 19:27, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Link Templates

Please use link templates when linking to stuff such as Pokémon names, attacks, and the like. For example, Hyper Beam instead of just Hyper Beam. This is so you don't unintentionally link to a disambiguation page.

For a full crash course on link templates, look at the list of link templates. Chocolate (Merry Christmas!) 17:27 12/20/2008

Signing

I noticed that you sign some of your comments, but forget to do so on others. Please remember to sign ALL talkpage comments. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 18:07, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Why...

Did you remove, re-add, and then remove the same thing? The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 13:48, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Project Locations

Heya, TorchicBlaziken. First, just letting you know that the Project Locations has changed quite a bit recently due to the instructions of the new Project Leader, me. The project has been updated and visually redesigned to make it easier to process. Little tasks and goals have been added to project page to make things run better and to help expand location articles. If you have any suggestions, inquiries, or questions, please don't hesitate to ask on the talk page.--Clarky13 11:49, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Moving pages

Generally, it is preferred that a pagemove is discussed on the appropriate talk page before being moved, especially one as controversial as the one you just did. — THE TROM — 23:07, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Don't

put false information into pages. 1 And if you're not sure, put something on the talk page. --Si6x12 20:22, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Smogon is so disheartening. Disregard.--Si6x12 05:32, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Be careful

You're blanking the page with empty content. Jellotalk 19:51, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Interwiki language links

Make sure you only add them when the other languages' pages actually exist. I noticed you were adding some French links to the new abilities even though the French haven't started working on those yet. this is a no-no. Just make sure to check before adding them in. MaverickNate 22:20, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

A request

Could you please, please not link to images before they get uploaded or moved. If you link to them before that it causes errors and the image won't appear from anywhere to a couple of days to something like a month. Even if I move it now, the servers won't sync properly and we'll be left with broken images. Please remember that next time. Jellotalk 00:24, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

TorchicBlaziken/Tags

Hi, I noticed that your usertags are all copied/pasted from the source page, I'd advise you not to, you could basically grab any of the templates found in here, and call them in your child page, for example, the piano one; User Piano, this way you can have the same result as the hardcoded template and it's easier this way. Masatoshitalk 10:32, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

The delete template

Hmm, I thought you knew about the delete template? Oh well, you can put this on a page so Administrators and above know to delete it. You can put down for whatever reason on the page, but don't replace content with it, unless you spot a spam page such as from the recent spambot wave. Thanks! --rockersk08

Oh, I didn't know you were allowed to do that on user namespace pages. TorchicBlaziken (talkedits)
It applies to any page that should be deleted. It can also be done by request. I had an old preview template that I used to put on people's talk pages to advise the user on using the preview key, but when I learned that an official one was created, I stuck the delete template on it and it was gone. --rockersk08 22:00, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

Klang

It's really not noteworthy trivia to say one of Klang's gears resembles another Pokemon's head from a previous generation. I personally can't see it, or why gamefreak would design it that way without a reason. I've took it back out unless you have evidence to support this speculation. Next time be sure to use Klang's Talk Page or my Talk Page before starting an edit-war. Thanks! Emp, out 02:27, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Trivia

Rather than adding that piece of trivia to 30 Pokémon articles, you should add it just here, because "one of the X Pokémon that..." trivia is unnotable excluding some exceptions.--Den Zen 20:15, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

New templates

Hey there, just letting you know that I'm sorry I had to revert your edits to the Signature Ability page. But there are reasons this was done.

 • 1. As mentioned at Bulbapedia:Templates new templates need to be approved by staff prior to implementation, this is so that they may check over the code and make sure there isn't anything wiki breaking in there, and just to double check that there are no loose ends. For further testing you can use the talk page of the new userpage you created or the Sandbox. Usually with sub-pages if they are for the good of the pedia, userspace restrictions are more lenient, but still in place.
 • 2. As mentioned about the code, your template had some and it is currently being reworked in an attempt to appear correctly but in an effort to make it smaller, so it should be reimplemented soon.
 • 3. Again, I'm real sorry.

Just keep these in mind when creating a new template, and you'll be good as gold. Thanks --Spriteit (talk) 02:11, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
