Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Galladeon!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a captial B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Galladeon/Archive1/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem, can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here!PokeManiac102 17:20, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to point out that some of that welcome can be rather insulting. I'm fairly sure everyone knows how to get a capital P. If they don't, why are they editing Bulbapedia? Galladeon 02:39, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Wouldn't it be nice if that was true? That's the old welcome, dude. {{welcome}}THE TROM — 02:51, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi

about the anime Pokémon, i reverted your edits because unless abilities are confirmed even if that species can only have one ability, we dont put it in the infobox thanks--D i o n 2 4 :D :D :D 05:43, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

OK buddy.

Quit adding all that speculation. You put speculation on the HGSS talk page when it's clearly explained that it goes in the forums. And then you inserted speculation in this article. This is just a warning to give you a heads-up. Continue to insert speculation, and I will see to it that a sysop blocks you. Thank you. --AT 21:48, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Disregard this, please. AT was wrong. There is no need to continue arguing over this.--RexRacer 23:21, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Who said anything about us still arguing about it? And if AT was wrong, then why isn't my addition to the HGSS talk page being allowed? Galladeon 23:23, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
We have a policy that says no. There are forums you can go to for things like that edit, as you were told multiple times. — THE TROM — 23:32, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
You mean this policy? "Talk pages should never be blanked, nor have any comments removed (this includes the welcome), by the user whose page it is, nor by anyone else, unless all that is on the page is off topic spam (consult an administrator first), or a personal attack against the user." My addition does not fall under that, nor does my question on Scott's talk page. Galladeon 23:39, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
He means this page: Talk abuse. --PsychicRider 23:43, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
I fail to see how that relates to the issue. Galladeon 23:47, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
It does, however, fall under Talk pages on Bulbapedia are usually for discussion on an article or template. They may be used to ask about a certain aspect that a reader is uncertain about in an article, poll others for an opinion on what the article should contain, or, in rare cases, discuss the subject of the article in question. Keep in mind, however, that talk pages are not forums for discussion; any comments irrelevant to the article may be removed. Comparisons between things are forum-like discussion, and asking about Scott's car are not what talk pages are meant for. Discussion about the article, not the subject of the article. And yes, talk abuse fits here as well. — THE TROM — 23:48, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
"They may be used to ask about a certain aspect that a reader is uncertain about in an article". That sounds like the Scott's car thing to me. Galladeon 23:53, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
OK, here's an answer. It's a cartoon car. It's red. It's a convertible. It may have aspects of real cars, but in actuality it was probably something the animators made up. Happy now? — THE TROM — 00:22, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Talk Page Comments

Please don't erase talk page comments for no reason. Trust me, you do NOT want to end up like Big Johnno, who got into an edit war with a sysop over comments the former had erased and was trying to keep erased. That user ended up blocked and subsequently had every erased comment restored. --PsychicRider 22:11, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

Is this some standard comment that everyone puts on people's talk pages when they try to delete talk page comments? I've seen the exact same thing on about 15 pages now. You'd think we'd be able to show a little originality sometimes. Galladeon 18:21, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
It's a warning template. Warning templates include standard messages to issue warnings to users that try to get around the manual of style, notability requirements, and/or the code of conduct. The template used for this warning is {{TPCD}}. --Shiningpikablu252 23:17, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Your behaviour

Cool it. Please. Thank you. — THE TROM — 01:43, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, but that's the way he's been acting. You know it and I know it. We already know that his apologies mean nothing, so why bother making him apologize? Galladeon 01:47, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
People change. But yeah, I really shouldn't even bother apologizing. Why bother when I've been a total asshole to freaking everyone?--AT 01:52, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Galladeon: Don't stoop to his level. Alpha Totodile: Get over it. People make mistakes. Life goes on. — THE TROM — 01:56, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
I know people make mistakes, but Galladeon doesn't seem to realize that. --AT 02:45, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
Drop this. Now. — THE TROM — 02:51, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
I had. I was busy making minor edits (that I haven't gotten around to saving 'cos I got distracted). Galladeon 03:29, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm bored...

I'm bored... Galladeon 02:28, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Always stuff to do...THE TROM — 02:35, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
That kind of stuff can be boring. Having something to do does not always equal not being bored. - unsigned comment from Galladeon (talkcontribs)
We don't really care if you're bored, so long as you don't sit around here all day filling up the RecentChanges with nonsense edits on your talk page. Policy says rawr!THE TROM — 02:51, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

One simple rule.

You can save everyone a lot of trouble by remembering this. If you're discussing the subject of the article (that is, HeartGold and SoulSilver), you want to head over to the forums (bmgf.bulbagarden.net). If you're discussing the article itself (that is, clarifying an oddly-worded statement or asking if confirmed information should be added or not), then you should use the talk page. Just watch your step a little, and you'll be fine. --((Marton imos)) 17:45, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

You're a little outdated. I dropped that issue last night. Galladeon 18:16, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Why we don't reply to old comments

Because most likely, the user who asked the question already found out the answer long ago. And the user probably knows that he should sign comments by now. There was no need to reply. The comment was made in September 2006, before the episode aired in America. It is now May 2009. Your response wasn't needed. We are not a forum. --ケンジガール 23:03, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Show me the policy that says comments replying to old comments should be deleted. - unsigned comment from Galladeon (talkcontribs)
You do realize you were badgering that user about signing comments yet you are forgetting yourself, right?
Anyway it's not in the policy, it's damn common scence. --ケンジガール 23:07, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
If you look a little ways up on this page, you will see why you shouldn't delete that comment. "Please don't erase talk page comments for no reason. Trust me, you do NOT want to end up like Big Johnno, who got into an edit war with a sysop over comments the former had erased and was trying to keep erased. That user ended up blocked and subsequently had every erased comment restored." Galladeon 23:13, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
That relates mostly to user talk page comments. You can delete irrelevant/redundant questions/answers/discussions on a talk page. |>|-|1|23 57R1K3 23:15, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Then there's the trivia that I added to the AG191 article that Kenji-girl won't let me leave in when there is similar trivia on other pages, like DP097. Galladeon 23:18, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Is "it's not wanted" a good reason to delete a trivia? Galladeon 23:27, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Yep. Especially if it's disapproved by 2 admins.
Also, I asked TTEchidna about replies to old comments and he said it's okay to remove them and is now part of the policy. --ケンジガール 23:33, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Besides, Kenji is an administrator. That gives her the right to remove anything from anywhere. -Sketch 23:51, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Within reason. Removing anything from anywhere could be abusing her power as an admin. --Galladeon 23:52, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
The rule is not to remove comments from any talk page. We, as administrators, have the right to remove off-topic or unnecessary comments. -Sketch 23:54, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but what you said included the deleting on-topic or necessary comments. I was just pointing that out. --Galladeon 23:56, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh here we go. We are pulling out the old "abusing powers" card. Every time we do something you don't like we are abusing our powers. Will you please just listen to reason? Your comment has no point. The comment is old. This user probably has an answer for his question. Had it been made yesterday, I would let you reply. But seriously, come on now... Your comment has no merit. --ケンジガール 23:58, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
I did not say anyone was abusing powers. I was just commenting about "the right to remove anything from anywhere" could sometimes mean power abuse. I've left that comment behind. --Galladeon 00:01, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't remove comments I don't like. I just remove pointless ones. --ケンジガール 00:03, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Nobody cares about that comment anymore. Shut up about it already. --Galladeon 00:05, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

"Shut up"

Read the code of conduct. Please. Now. — THE TROM — 00:06, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm just sick of her bringing that back up when I dropped it hours ago. --Galladeon 00:08, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Actually.

Quite quickly, quiet it down. We're trying to deal with a lot of crap here, so you whining to KG about old comments really isn't helping. TTEchidna 00:09, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Regarding your "trivia" on Ash's Butterfree

You can't add things like that to articles. Regardless of where you put it. It's speculation. -Sketch 12:51, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

The Power of One

Okay, I honestly just saw "which was cut from the dub". Maybe it would be better if the sentence "Tracey's explanation was cut from the dub" at the end of the note. Kevin Y (talk) 21:20, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

No, it wouldn't make sense there. I just reread the note, and that part only makes sense where it is. --Galladeon 21:21, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
The whole thing was confusing to me the first several times I read it, and I didn't even see the part about it being cut until the seventh time I read it. So I'm probably not the best person to change the wording around in that case, anyway. I'll leave it at is, and if anybody else has the same problem as me, then so be it. Kevin Y (talk) 21:23, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Thx for the fix

I always cap the wrong thing or forget to cap. Usually people fight me over trivia (my strong suit) and say things like its unneeded or demand sources playing the "speculation" card. Yami 17:46, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

That happens to me too. My strong suit is wikignoming because those little errors always annoy me for some reason. --Galladeon 17:48, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
I think we need to get a Mod in on this before the DP105 article is locked. Yami 18:07, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
Could you do it? I'm dealing with a lot of stuff right now. --Galladeon 18:09, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Which admin/mod would be best for the job? Yami 18:10, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Try Trom or TTE. --Galladeon 18:14, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Can you give me a link to Trom's talk page or something? Yami 18:19, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Look at the Shut Up topic on this page. There's a link in his signature. --Galladeon 18:22, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Sinnoh Handbook

Can you get a list of the Pokémon in Ash and co.'s teams so we can determine an "as of DPxyz" epnumber? Cheers. — THE TROM — 22:36, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

I tossed my niece's copy in the recycle bin, but I think I remember... Dawn had Buizel and Ash had Aipom. I don't think Ash had Chimchar yet. *checks* Ash has Pikachu, Staravia, Aipom and Turtwig. Brock has Sudowoodo and Croagunk. Dawn has Piplup, Buneary, and Pachirisu. So, as of DP019. --Galladeon 22:51, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. — THE TROM — 23:00, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
By the way, the synopsis for AG113 says it's from serebii. Should that synopsis be deleted? --Galladeon 23:02, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
