Welcome to Bulbapedia, FireGambit!

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Of Whom

This wording implies a specific Bulbasaur, or a specific Charmander. We are trying to avoid using singular words that describe an individual, and use words to describe the species as a whole. Also, the XY information doesn't need to be mentioned in the opening paragraph, as they are not a Kalos Starter Pokémon. We have that information in the location box in the locations section of the article.--ForceFire 04:26, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Okay, sorry for making you go through all my edits and fix them. Do you mind linking me to your policies page? FireGambit (talk) 04:30, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
Here's the category containing our policies.--ForceFire 04:35, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
Thank you. Also, why can't I edit my profile? I'd like to do something like what you have on yours, but it says I need to make an edit before I can create my profile. Haven't I made an edit? FireGambit (talk) 04:38, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
You need to make a specific amount of edits to be able to edit your userpage, an amount that I do not know myself. Also, increase the amount of colons so your comment appears indented. For example, you would place four colons if you were to reply and I would place five colons if I were to reply back again.--ForceFire 04:57, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
Okay, thank you for all the help; I've probably been a bother. :) --FireGambit (talk) 05:00, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
No, not at all. It's good to know that you asked questions about the site. Don't be afraid to ask the admins for anything.--ForceFire 05:07, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

James' in categories

James's is the actual spelling for the category instead of James' so keep it at James's. PattyMan 17:26, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Please read my post on your talk page. --FireGambit (talk) 17:27, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Hmm... As I've always been taught that you do not need a "s" after the apostrophe, I apologize for that. However, if you read the second paragraph, it says that "some writer's will leave out the second s." Yes, the Elements of Style book suggests you use the second "s" but it also says that some words, such as Mr. Chambers, sound clunky when you add the second "s." I believe when someone reads, "Jameses" (what they hear in their head/out loud), it may have that "clunky" effect, sort of like when Gollum says, "hobbitses," lol. Then again, I'm new here; best leave it to the experts. --FireGambit (talk) 17:47, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
We tend to follow The dark lord trombonator's suggestions as English is his field of expertise. He's stated in the past that s's is preferred, not to mention it's consistent across the site. If we suddenly decided to change it, we'd have to change every instance of s's. Word of advice, next time it'd be better to ask first before taking action. Cheers. Thanks; I think I'll stick to content fixes from now on. --FireGambit (talk) 18:08, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Userspace limits

Hi. I noticed you have been editing the User: namespace a lot recently. Please don't do it any more, though. Bulbapedia's Userspace policy restricts the amount you can edit your userpage: no more than three edits per day and make sure you contribute to our mainspace more than your userspace. This policy was instated to promote people helping out in the mainspace, and also to control strain on our server. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, after all, so help us out by contributing to some articles before coming back to your personal userpage. The more often you edit in the mainspace, the more you will be allowed to edit your userpage. Thanks! ----Pokemaster97 02:57, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Haha, yeah, I noticed that. Sorry about that; I still try to focus on the mainspace, though! Thanks for the reminder, and I hope I didn't cause a problem (with the servers and all. Don't know much about them). --FireGambit (talk) 03:04, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
Your sandbox page counts as a userpage as well. Your personal editing privileges can be taken away, so please do not edit your page any more for now. Thank you. --Pokemaster97 03:36, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
Oh, really? I'm sorry. I'll stop now; although, what if your sandbox edits are for the mainspace? --FireGambit (talk) 03:37, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
That's a little different, as were a little more lenient with pages that will go in the userspace later. However, you still must not overdue it and stay as close to the 3 edit limit as possible. --Pokemaster97 03:41, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
Alright, thanks for answering my questions. I was done in my sandbox anyway, for today at least. I'm off find something to edit now! --FireGambit (talk) 03:49, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Biology Rewrites

Hello! Thanks for improving the grammar and flow of some the Pokemon biology sections, but please be a little more careful. There were a couple of places where important information was removed or altered a little too much. To use Pignite as an example: While "internal fire" sounds much better than "fire in its stomach" it doesn't tell the reader where in Pignite's body the fire is. Is in the chest like other fire-types? I know the fact that its fed with food makes the seem obvious, but all of the body is technically fueled by food. But honestly, most of the edits are looking good. Thanks! Crystal Talian 16:04, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Thank you! Thanks for clarifying why you undid my rewrite on Pignite. Also, I was a little confused about what was 'unclear' in my Servine rewrite. Would you mind answering on your talk page? --FireGambit (talk) 16:07, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Incomplete tag

"Red links" is not an appropriate reason to put the incomplete tag onto pages. Red linked wanted pages are already alerted to by the Wanted Pages Special page, and their existence does not affect the progress of articles linking to them. I have since removed the tag, but in the future please make sure there is an actual improvable problem on specific articles before adding improvement tags to said articles.
