Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, BrokenMotor!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

 • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
 • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
 • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
 • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
 • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
 • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
 • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
 • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
 • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
 • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
 • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
 • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
 • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:BrokenMotor/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
 • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
 • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! --Shiningpikablu252 18:07, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

You. Link templates. Now.

Gotta use them. Or else. No ampersands either unless it's a title! TTEchidna 23:19, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

It'd help to READ YOUR TALK PAGE and not just go forward with everything all gung-ho! TTEchidna 23:47, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Read the list of link templates. You shouldn't be linking things like Mewtwo or Ash. --((Marton imos)) 23:49, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Also.

Categorize every page you create properly. TTEchidna 20:16, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Please

Slow down on editing the User: namespace. There are only three userspace edits allowed per day, and you have gone over the limit. Editing your userpage too much will lead to it being locked again. Instead of making multiple small edits, why not instead use the preview button (Alt + Shift + P) to check your edits before saving the page? Thank you. --PsychicRider 20:44, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Again

This is your second warning. Please refrain from editing the User: namespace too rapidly, or you will lose privileges. --PsychicRider 20:47, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Oy. Already has. They don't need two warnings after editing it eight times in one day. BrokenMotor, since you ignored the warning, you get to become the 2nd user ever to be unable to edit their userpage when everybody else can. It'll expire in a few days. When it does, keep in mind three userspace edits per day. --ニョロトノ666 20:50, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

I have a question

Um if I press the edit button but I don't do anything does that count as one of my three edits for the day? - unsigned comment from BrokenMotor (talkcontribs)

Nope. --ニョロトノ666 01:28, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Also, I got my edit back. Is that just a test or something?- unsigned comment from BrokenMotor (talkcontribs)
No, only if you edit more than twelve times in a day. But don't try it. Three edits a day. --PsychicRider 01:31, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I initially banned you by mistake. My bad. --ニョロトノ666 01:33, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Ho Do You...

Hey can anyone tell me how to make an image a thumbnail so I can just move it around closer to my Teams. Ok I think that it involves uploading the image on the bulbapedia archives but can I do that with a custom trainer sprite?

Regarding your Weavile

Avalanche ain't a good idea. It won't get double because Weavile is one of the fastest Pokemon around. Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links Well in my experience with avalanche the pokemon always goes second and it all depends whether the other pokemon attacks or not but since Weavile has such weak defense maybe you could show me another move to replace it.BrokenMotor 16:42, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Weavile is compatible with Ice Punch. Unfortunately, you'll need Pokémon Platinum to be able to teach that to your current. Gywall(Talk) 17:18, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Or in Emerald while it's still a Sneasel.--Blazevoir!! 17:40, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

My Anime Lineup

I just want say that if you want to edit my anime pokemon profile so it is going form side to side like it is on Paul or Ash's pages feel free BrokenMotor 15:45, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. ----PsychicRider 01:30, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Sorry that was a slip up, I thought I had an edit left.- unsigned comment from BrokenMotor (talkcontribs)

Nope, you just went over one though. And remember sign your name with ~~~~, please. --PsychicRider 01:35, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

I forget that because I don't Have that on my Keyboard BrokenMotor 01:52, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Really? It should be next to the 1. Push shift and `. --PsychicRider 02:03, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

My God it is. Thank You BrokenMotor 02:11, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Major lol. You're welcome. I guess I'd consider myself techno-savvy as everyone says. --PsychicRider 02:14, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Pokémon

Pokémon is always capitalized and spelled with the accented e. It can be found in the character palette below the edit screen or by typing Alt+0233. Thank you. --PAK Man Talk 21:56, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Link Templates

Please use link templates when linking to stuff such as Pokémon names, attacks, and the like. For example, Kate instead of just Kate. This is so you don't unintentionally link to a disambiguation page.

For a full crash course on link templates, look at the list of link templates. ----freezingCOLD (page, talk) 23:43, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

And remember: any first- or second-person pronouns (I, me, we, us, you, your, etc.) should not be used in articles. Try to phrase them so they do not use those pronouns. ~ overgrownsol 23:46, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Stop.

Do not edit the User: namespace any more. In the past, we were not allowed to edit our pages at all because of users over-editing their pages. If you edit your page any more without making some edits to the mainspace, then the privilege for you to edit the userspace will be removed. ---- MAGNEDETH 23:11, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Just a little heads up

Never use "you" in an article. Use "the player" instead. I'm back! Alpha CuboneKing 02:46, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks all I'm working on it. BrokenMotor 02:47, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Don't indent your comments with an whatchcallit (*), do it with a colon (:). Glad to help, I'm back! Alpha CuboneKing 02:49, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Got it. BrokenMotor 02:51, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Alternate coloration is a redirect now. Link to shiny Pokémon instead. I'm back! Alpha CuboneKing 02:53, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Title case

We don't use title case in article titles. It's teams, not Teams. --electAbuzzzz 18:41, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

New templates

Do not create a new template in the Template namespace. There is a policy here that states that. Create it in your userspace first. --rockersk08 18:53, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

It may be moved back to the Template: namespace in the future, if enough people (Cubone count too) use it. Alpha CuboneKing 18:56, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

dont add that info to the characteristics. its not necessary. -- MAGNEDETH 00:01, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Red

Hi. About your edits to Red - they're great, we need that, HOWEVER - please pay a little more attention to your grammar and spelling. You had quite a lot of mistakes (that I already fixed), that can easily be avoided by proofreading your own paragraphs before saving. Pokémon is spelled like that. Not "pokemon". Also, please brake your text into paragraphs instead of making huge walls of text. One last thing - I was you asked MAGNEDETH about Aero and Lax. No, don't create articles about them. They used to have articles, but we decided they're not notable enough. The paragraph they have on Red's page is enough. Thanks --electAbuzzzz 22:01, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Gold's Sudowoodo is a definite no. I don't know about Dia's Munchlax because I have yet to read the DP chapter, but for now I'd say hold it off. Basically, what you have to ask yourself when you think of a Pokémon's notability is this: did it have actual character developement? Did it have a major impact on the plot? Can you write a full article about it that's more than two short paragraphs long? --electAbuzzzz 11:07, 8 November 2009 (UTC)

Reminder

Just making sure you know that Pokémon is spelled with a capital P. MaverickNate 18:34, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

Userspace revoked

You have broken the current limit of one userspace edit per day. Please edit the mainspace to regain this ability. -- MAGNEDETH 03:28, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

Having your userspace revoked means your whole userspace must not be edited, not just the main page. This time, we had only protected your main userpage, and trusted you to not edit the others. Not only did you edit a subpage when you should not have, but you went over the one userspace edit per day limit by editing it as well. Due to this, your length of time without userspace privileges has increased. --SnorlaxMonster 06:41, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

Spiritual Capital?

"It serves as the spiritual capital of Kanto." Where did you get this information? If you made this up, please take it out. No speculation should be inserted in articles, just thought I'd give you advice on that. :] --Han Ji-Wan 05:21, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

Card pages

Whenever there is a reprint, the images rotate through the infobox every hour. When you changed Zekrom, you made it o that the secret holo image appeared for one hour, and the promo appeared for two, and the in set rare holo to not appear at all. They are all set up perfectly, and should not be changed. MaverickNate 07:50, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
