Rockersk08, whose real name is Justin (Japanese: ジャスティン)*, is an Senior Administrator of Bulbapedia, joined on October 20th, 2008. He found Bulbapedia through Wikipedia, which he uses as a general information source. Since he found Bulbapedia more comprehensive, he switched to using it as his Pokémon source. His primary reason to join was to contribute to the anime episode summaries. He first took an interest in Pokémon when he received Pokémon Red in 1998, following up with viewing the anime.

Games

The Pokémon games started Rockersk08's interest in Pokémon, beginning with Pokémon Red on his Game Boy Pocket. Although he has owned games from each generation, he no longer has Crystal. His Gold and Silver cartridges no longer save due to dry cell batteries. He considered repairing them, but the remakes satisfy him enough to shelve the original games.

For Red, he chose Charmander as his first starter. Since it was the first game he played, he made common mistakes: not raising a balanced team, no movesets, and relying too much on Charizard. He fixed his mistakes in Pokémon Yellow, completing it with a balanced team at level 50.

Pokémon Gold increased his interest dramatically. He got it in December 2002, along with a Target-endorsed Game Boy Advance. He chose Cyndaquil as his starter. Gold was the first game where he would raise a team to level 100, although half of the team was composed of Legendary Pokémon: Mewtwo, Zapdos and Ho-oh. He played that version for three years, co-playing along with Pokémon Stadium 2. He did get a hold of Silver and Crystal, but he eventually set them down for the third generation.

Rockersk08 originally skipped over Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, getting FireRed in December 2005, his stepbrother getting LeafGreen. He once again chose Charmander as his starter, and he found FireRed much harder but more rewarding. After switching out his team, he raised his first non-legendary team to level 100: Tyranitar, Machamp, Alakazam, Lapras, Jolteon, and Arcanine. He eventually imported the team to his Diamond card, updated with Generation IV moves. He did get ahold of Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, merging all the Pokémon onto Diamond. He did, however, chose Torchic as his starter for Sapphire.

He finished working on his the fourth generation games, having acquired Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum as well as the remakes HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions. For the Sinnoh games, he raised all three teams to level 100. Although Dialga was on Diamond, it marked the first instance where he has raised starter Pokémon to level 100, let alone all three Sinnoh starters. Since he found out about Effort Values, he undertook a massive project to raise many competitive Pokémon to level 50 for future battles. Shortly after that, he took six Pokémon from that project, incorporating all four generations, and raised them to level 100 with Effort Values for his first competitive team. He retraced his roots with HeartGold, taking some of his EV Pokémon and creating a Johto team, raising it and his original starter Typhlosion to level 100. He also raised another team for SoulSilver. The Flat Battle settings helped him compete in three local battles at his university, winning all three.

For the fifth generation, he picked up both Pokémon Black and White. Pokémon Black became his first working version, and although he got all three starters by restarting White, his first choice was Oshawott. When he unlocked the National Pokédex on Black, he executed a major transfer of Pokémon from HeartGold and SoulSilver to Black. He trained two level 100 teams with Pokémon from his EV project, one for each version, building up funds for his EV training expansion. Currently, he is EV-training new Pokémon as well as a few special ones. Future endeavors include creating two new competitive teams, one an all-star Generation-bridging team, the other purely competitive, as well as extra EV training for underused Pokémon.

Anime

Rockersk08 has kept up with a majority of the anime, having seen most of the Original series episodes, all of the Advanced Generation, all of Diamond and Pearl, and currently following the Best Wishes series. He currently has the first box set for the first season, the second season box set, both Battle Frontier box sets, the complete tenth season and the first two boxes for season eleven. In terms of movies, he has seen the first four films and Destiny Deoxys. He owns the DVD for The Rise of Darkrai and Giratina and the Sky Warrior, but taped Arceus and the Jewel of Life and Zoroark: Master of Illusions. While he will try to get the DVDs for his favorite episodes, he primarily tapes and archives episodes thanks to cable television.

Contributions

Rockersk08's first contribution was the synopsis to The Bicker The Better on October 22nd, 2008. He also joined Project Anime, which has been his primary focus. His first created page was for the 1999 Pokémon Monopoly board game on January 12th, 2009. As of July 11th, 2011, he has written seventy-seven episode summaries and plans to write more. He received the Golden Bulbasaur Award on June 6th, 2009 for service between February 2009 and May 2009.

If he focuses purely on the episode, writing the average episode synopsis takes at least one hour or more for Rockersk08. He will either type very quick notes using Notepad while watching the episode, or he will scan through the Filb.de screenshots if available, primarily if he already watched the dubbed episode. Once finished, he often transfers it to Microsoft Word and revises it four times. The first run removes spelling errors while the next two improves the text, adding complete, detailed paragraphs. The final pass involves adding links. Preferably, he likes to watch the episode on DVD for quality. However, YouTube videos and other online sources are adequate in the short term. Having access to cable television allows him to tape episodes and watch them at his own pace, preserving his favorites. He does make occasional typos and doesn't always check the links.

Episode synopses made up the bulk of Rockersk08’s edits early on. However, after realizing that there was no limit to productive edits, he started watching the recent changes and became more familiar with wiki coding. One project involved removing improper use of {{G}}, which was being used lazily for pages starting with Pokémon, such as {{g|Center}} for Pokémon Center. In the edit summary, he referred to it as "Lazy Shell," which is a reference to Super Mario RPG. He also works on fixing any incorrect links, such as those that lead to Disambiguation pages when they should not. He also works on fixing redirect links.

On November 4th, 2009, the dark lord trombonator offered Rockersk08 a temporary promotion to an administrator in order to help with the major transition from Pokémon Special to Pokémon Adventures. He accepted and moved several pages, changed the links in the Number Disambiguation pages and fixed resulting double redirect pages. Less than twenty-four hours afterward, he returned back to a normal user.

On September 17th, 2010, Rockersk08 was given another temporary promotion, this time to the Junior Administrator status, to help with the release of Pokémon Black and White. Though he did not help much with the new Pokémon, he did participate in updating learnsets to the new standard, as well as helping update anime screenshot links. Around November 4th, he was able to keep his promotion as a Junior Admin. His major contributions involved condensing breeding tables and trying to help new users with informative notes.

On March 4th, 2011, as Pokémon Black and White neared its European and North American release dates, Rockersk08 was one of the many staff members to receive a promotion, being upgraded to Administrator status. His most recent contributions involve updating Pokémon learnlist templates. He makes sure to check the Recent Changes and help resolve any issues. He may not make as many edits as he used to, but he is watching.

On May 23rd, 2011, Rockersk08 submitted an opinion piece to Bulbanews covering the impact of the Diamond & Pearl series.

Following the 2011 Staff Recruitment Drive, Rockersk08 was promoted to a Senior Administrator on December 13th, 2011.
