History

Pre-series

As revealed in HZ041, Iono was a source of inspiration for Dot, and after watching one of Iono's livestreams, in which she read a comment from Dot about how to deal with a dilemma regarding her unwillingless to explore the world, Dot decided to join the Rising Volt Tacklers. Sometime after this, Iono and Dot struck up a friendship, with Dot referring to her as (Japanese: ナンジャモお姉さん Big sister Nanjyamo).

Pokémon Horizons: The Series

Iono and Dot

Iono first appeared in Someone We Can't See! Whosawhatsit?, where she was contacted by Dot to help her find Liko, who was missing. Taking the opportunity, Iono asked Dot if she wanted to do a collaboration in her live show as Nidothing to better spread the word. With the help of Iono, Dot was able to locate Liko in Levincia. Iono then turned the search into a game of tag and later congratulated Roy for finding Liko and thanked Liko for her help in making her stream a hit.

In HZ034, Iono reappeared talking to Dot via video conference, she showed that she knew that Dot had finally become a Trainer and soon after when she was interrupted by Liko and Roy, she talked to Liko a little about her friendship with Dot and wished everyone to have fun at the planned party for Diana's farewell to Brave Olivine.

In HZ044, Iono appeared hosting an edition of Iono Zone when she was interrupted by the appearance of Black Rayquaza in the skies, dancing animatedly and striking the pose in her artwork before spotting it some distance away. Iono appeared in a flashback to Liko and Roy's journey in HZ045. In the following episode, Iono was selected as Dot's challenge as part of Terastal Training.

Sometime after Dot, Liko, and Roy began their training, Iono helped the Rising Volt Tacklers get a place to keep the Brave Olivine safe while it was being repaired. In HZ049, Iono met Dot again at the dock where the Brave Olivine was docked. Seeing Dot's insecurity without the Nidothing outfit, Iono proposed that Dot battle as Nidothing and that, in the meantime, Roy had a training battle with Dot. Later, upon seeing Dot's confidence in winning a battle alongside Quaxly, Iono announced in a video that Dot would be her opponent in an online event. In secret, Iono expressed that she would like to face Dot as Nidothing because it would increase her online audience, but she was happy for her friend.

In HZ050, Iono participated in another Nidothing video, and with her outgoing personality, Iono overshadowed Dot a little when the two were talking about the upcoming battle between the two. The next day, Iono finally had her battle with Dot, and despite the efforts of Dot and Quaxly, Iono managed to win the battle. After the battle, Iono approved Dot in the Terastal Training and congratulated her for understanding a little more how to evolve as a Trainer.

Character

Iono without her hair accessories

Iono is a streamer, online video creator, and an influencer, running a livestream called "Iono Zone" (Japanese: ドンナモンジャTV Donnamonja TV). She is known to stream her work as a Gym Leader, and prioritizes viewer numbers and engagement on her channel. As such, she never misses the chance to have a collaboration with another popular figure, such as Dot's alter-ego, Nidothing, whom Iono is good friends with. Accordingly, Iono was one of the few people outside of the Rising Volt Tacklers to know Dot's true identity, with Dot occasionally asking Iono for advice and help.

As a result of her popularity, Iono finds it really hard to be able to explore the outdoors without being recognized, and as such, occasionally tends to find places where she can relax without the worry of being discovered, as seen in HZ049 when she began spending time at the Brave Olivine whilst it was being repaired. She's also very considerate to her friends, as upon realizing that Dot was suffering from stage fright, she allowed Dot to challenge her as her Nidothing persona, but after seeing Dot's newfound confidence, allowed her to battle as herself, and whilst wanting to battle Nidothing to help her boost her viewers, she was nonetheless genuinely happy for Dot's growth.

In HZ034, Iono was seen without her hair accessories, which according to herself, is part of her personality and who she really is.
