Is there a difference between this and Template:Held item? (I notice neither are in operation yet.) --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 18:24, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

I didn't even realize this one existed...and this one IS used... ht14 01:20, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
It's only used because "Held item" isn't widely known about (and, yes, incomplete). All it's missing is an optional parameter for RBY, which I was unable to figure out. —darklordtrom 01:26, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Same with this, and I already started using it. The other one, though nicer, can have issues I can sense (such as images). I also included a cat for this template. ht14 01:32, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
If it's nicer, why not use it? Merge the desired functions of the two templates into one. —darklordtrom 01:38, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
That's a good idea. - unsigned comment from ht14 (talkcontribs)
Go for your life, ht. Original is now unprotected so you can do it there, seeing as you thought it was nicer. —darklordtrom 01:52, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

"in order to be holding the item." is horrible grammar. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 15:33, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Two things.

One, someone broke it.

Two, why is there all that extra freaking space after the notes? Did you guys miss the lesson on how to do that stuff? TTEchidna 03:12, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Template fix

Needs work: See Growlithe. Poor guy... ht14 02:22, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

This template confuses the hell out of me. —darklordtrom 20:57, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Tell me about it... and I created it... if only MisterE was around at the moment... ht14 21:00, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Three items

As of Black and White, it is possible for Wild Pokémon to hole one of three possible items (see Clefairy). The template should be changed to reflect that. - Chosen of Mana 16:28, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Additions

The seemingly endless coding from here will add the Japanese Blue to the template, as well as making it possible to add games where the Pokemon has no held item, which will make it a lot clearer than just limiting it to games that the Pokemon is wild in. See here for some examples. Vuvuzela2010 01:01, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Update; Pokémon not found in the wild, and Pokémon without held items

Can we remove the only use this for Pokémon that legitimately appear in the wild statement? The job of this template to state what items a Pokémon holds in each game, and not what games each Pokémon is found in. If people want to know that, they can look in the availability sections. So if Lunatone holds an item in Emerald, it doesnt matter if it isnt found in the wild. Plus my update for this, including the event one is complete, which allows us to clearly state if a Pokémon doesnt hold an item in any game. And I've added Black and White 2 to it, since we'll need them eventually :) XVuvuzela2010X 15:51, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm in agreement with all of that.--MisterE13 04:30, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
The reason that I did do that was so that it would make sense and cause less confusion. It's simply a merge of the "availability" and "held items" section. Not sure why it's an issue though. ht14 23:42, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
I think it's more confusing to say, for example, wild Shellder can hold Pearls in FireRed only, and not LeafGreen, when this isnt the case. XVuvuzela2010X 18:37, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
I feel like it's reasonable for that correlation to be made though, I'm not sure. Can you give me an example in which Shellder can be found in LG for instance? I guess you could say I'm stubborn in that aspect, but the only way that'd be possible is via hacking... ht14 23:56, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

Old argument, but if you find a trainer with a Shellder in LG then it would have an equal chance to generate a pearl as it's held item. This can be seen by initiating a battle with the Chansey trainer on Victory Road. 5% of your soft resets will result in obtaining a very easy Lucky Egg. You can even force yourself to black out and farm the trainer for more eggs without losing them from resetting. This has been the case in all of the games, however it should be noted that percentages and availability does change. Croagunk in XY, for example, doesn't seem to have Black Sludge anymore.

Protection

Please grant protection on this vital template. --Abcboy (talk) 04:07, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Seriously?

Why doesn't have Diamond and Pearl fields for version-exclusive Pokémon? All other games have. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 16:38, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

Altering Cave

Some Pokémon are found in FRLG in Altering Cave, which should have note for item as... it never has been used. That seems to make Berry Juice unavailable without cheating as in Emerald Shuckle hold Oran Berry, and I don't know of any other way to get that item. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 08:31, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

XY

Could someone make this template compatible with XY? Lucha can hold King's Rock but I can't use the template because it's stuck in 2012 and for whatever reason nobody bothered to add XY compatibility when Oct 12th happened. --The Truth aka Relicant 20:15, 4 December 2013 (UTC)

All up-to-date. The complete list of wild held items for Kalos Pokédex Pokémon that can be found in the wild (except in the Friend Safari) is on List of Pokémon by wild held item. --SnorlaxMonster 12:01, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
Something about the template isn't working, specifically on Basculin's page. The form!asterick isn't showing up in one box, and in the other it's listing the wrong form. Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 01:52, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

1% items.

There should be a tooltip, or some other note for 1% items, since they appear only in dark grass (which is most noticeable on Throh and Sawk). Uploader (talk) 10:45, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

ORAS Update

I noticed that this template hasn't been updated for ORAS yet. Can an admin please update it? Thank you. Buffbills7701 (talk) 19:19, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Could someone update the template for USUM? Thanks. Lanthanum (talk) 03:19, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

Expansion Pass

Does this need updating to reflect the release of the Expansion Pass for Sword and Shield, or is it okay to continue using it as is? Miyamoto Musashi (talk) 10:10, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

Legends Arceus

Needs to be updated to include Legends Arceus now too. VilkaTheWolf (talk) 03:41, 5 February 2022 (UTC)

Bumping this for anyone watching. I wanted to work on actually adding the LA info, but I cannot as the template doesn't support it. -PancakeIdentity (talk) 00:08, 25 September 2022 (UTC)

Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Support

Can anyone update the template with BDSP Support? Its desperately needed for the item update! SubwooferNoivern (talk) 09:34, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

SV sprite error

The HeldItems template is currently broken for SV. Due to how the template works, it attempts to link to a non-existent "Bag [Item] Sprite.png", instead of the correct bag sprite which is "Bag [Item] SV Sprite.png". An example can be seen on the Iron Valiant page, where it currently links to a non-existent "Bag Booster Energy Sprite.png". Anzasquiddles (talk) 13:42, 23 January 2023 (UTC)

So the issue has been fixed, except the SV sprites used on the HeldItems table are too big. We need a size argument to shrink the sprites down to a reasonable size. (Again, see Iron Valiant page for an example). Anzasquiddles (talk) 02:22, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
