Is the ID of the Electrivire you get thorugh PBR (The coded one) different from your Trainer ID? Agent 448Talk | DP 10:50, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes however there are 2 possible ID's for it, 1 being the US relase and 1 being the Euro release. Keirou 01:27, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

And presumably there'll be another one for the UK woolworths Darkrais. Lord of Origami 09:41, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

00000?

My shiny Charizard that I got from a Japanese game and traded to my English Emerald game, then later migrated to my Pearl game, has an ID number of 00000. Is that extremely rare? or was this pokemon gotten by cheating??Shadow lucario 19:59, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

  • It's almost impossible to start with both a shiny Charmander and a Trainer ID of 00000 (the odds are about one in 537 million). He could have gotten that ID by chance and bred a shiny Charmander, but on average he'd need to hatch 864 for even a 10% chance of one shiny. A quick Google suggests that some popular Gameshark codes produced an ID of 00000, so there's a good chance that this is hacked. --JDigital 23:38, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Do in-game trainers have IDs?

Do in-game trainers, such as gym leaders, have ID numbers, secret ID numbers, and OT data? --JDigital 00:59, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, yes, yes.--RexRacer 01:18, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Interesting! Is there a list? Is there a way to find these out? --JDigital 22:06, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
You'd need to utilise a cheating device such as an Action Replay to capture the other Trainer's Pokémon to check the ID. — THE TROM — 22:17, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
See the list of in-game trades for more information, NPCs that trade all have ID, SID and OT in their Pokémon. Gym leaders I am not so sure. I can check later tonight if you don't have an AR.--RexRacer 22:38, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
If they didn't have their own ID/OT/SID, then there'd be that 1/8192 chance of any opponent's Pokémon being shiny. Even if it's defaulted to 00000/Satoshi/00000, that prevents the game from having any opponets with shinies they don't want you to see. TTEchidna 23:04, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
  • RexRacer: I'd be very interested to see your findings! I'd test out myself with Pokémon Red/Blue with NO$GMB, but I'm not quite certain where to look. --JDigital 05:57, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Special thanks go out to PsychicRider for finding this out. Apparently Pokémon that aren't there to trade (i.e. captured from another trainer/gym leader) automatically resort to your ID, SID, OT, as if you had caught them in a legitimate fashion.--RexRacer 02:03, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
I did some research using VBA, and discovered some interesting results:
  • In Pokémon Red, the Pokémon of both your rival and the first bug catcher share your OT name and Trainer ID. I think it's a reasonable assumption that this is the case for all trainers you battle in Generation I and II.
  • In Pokémon Emerald, wild Pokémon share your trainer ID and OT name even before capture. However, it appears that trainer Pokémon use a random trainer ID, which is different even between Pokémon of the same trainer, and re-loading from save to fight the same trainer gives different trainer IDs each time. Their Trainer OT name is your name. Again, I think it's reasonable to assume that this is the case in for all trainers you battle in Generation III. Each trainer Pokémon's Personality value is consistent. --JDigital 16:04, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Multiple trades

Is the trainer ID reset when a Pokémon is traded again? That is, if I received a Pokémon in a trade, then trade it again, will it have my ID number now? I don't think this is how it works, but I can't seem to figure it out on my own. Jazzmoth 21:33, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Nope. It's locked to the game it originated from. — THE TROM — 09:06, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

1 in 4,294,967,296

"If two different Trainers have the same Trainer name, identical ID numbers and identical hidden ID numbers (a 1 in 4,294,967,296 chance if the names do not differ), the game will recognize the two Trainers as the same..." This is the same as the chances of finding two Spinda with the same spot pattern. Should this be mentioned? I♥Togetic 08:23, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Not Really A Stub

I don't see why this article is tagged as a stub, there's not really much more one can say about Trainer ID numbers. It's a fairly basic topic, that's been covered well as far as I can see. I suggest the removal of the stub tag. GetOutOfBox 17:32, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

Same ID, different Trainer

A wierd thing happened to me. In my Diamond game, I had somehow ended up with a Bad egg in my Daycare. Because of that, I traded all of my valuable pokemon to my SoulSilver game, so I could start Diamond over. A little while later, I discovered a bizarre quirk: The trainer ID for my old Diamond pokemon and the pokemon that I already had in SoulSilver was the same for both. My game treated them as normal traded pokemon, so I couldn't nickname them. Does anyone know the chance of two identical ID numbers? Glitchynidoqueen (talk) 00:14, 21 February 2013 (UTC)

Regarding final Secret ID after computing final Trainer ID

“For example, consider a new save file in which the player's assigned Trainer ID and Secret ID are 00033 and 34262, respectively. The final ID number will be 33 + 34262*65536 = 2245394465. However, only the last six digits are used so the Trainer Card will display an ID No. of 394465.”

So what will be then the final Secret ID number after computing the final Trainer ID number above? 2245? Or some other number? PKHeX reports four-digit SIDs, but I don’t know how it computes them. --SilSinn (TIDs: 768426S, 123446UM) (talk) 06:20, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

I was under the impression that the new calculation only affected what was displayed on screen, and therwise the TID and SID mechanics were unchanged from previous gens. So there is no "final SID" because it's pointless. Perhaps "displayed TID" would be better than "final TID" for the article.
The 4 digit number you to refer is probably the shiny value, which is derived from the TID/SID for the purposes of making RNGing/hatching shinies easier, but it's not actually stored in the game JMVB - literally it doesn't stand for anything (talk) 16:00, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
