Badges

In encounter section, are the 'Badges' Gym Badges or just any Badges? CrazyPikmin (talk) 09:29, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

I would assume gym badges, since those one control the level cap. Brin (talk) 17:27, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

One thing that happened to me in my playthrough is that I didn't get 4 star raids until I had 7 gym badges, instead of the 6 listed on the page. --XarrotD (talk) 19:23, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

That can also be bad luck. Something else I saw was that the coloms for after 3 and after 6 are not 100% (20+40+30=90) (20+30+30=80). That also has to be completed. CrazyPikmin (My Edits) 07:59, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Moves with different effects?

I noticed the move Ruination, which should be similar to Super Fang, only does a little damage in Tera Raid Battles. What is it doing instead? I see mention of some moves which behave differently but it seems there are more, such as these "cut HP in half" moves. --Koetsu (talk) 01:35, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

My running theory is that moves that are supposed to deal direct damage (cut HP in half moves actually deal damage equal to half the targets current HP) pretend as if the Raid Pokémon has its normal maximum HP for whatever level it would be (based on the star rating of the raid) and then applies the percentage of HP remaining of the raid health bar to that normal maximum. In your example, Ruination does as much damage as it would if the Raid Pokémon did not have the HP multiplier applied to it (but the HP bar has the same percentage remaining). Taking the current event Samurott as our example Raid Pokémon, if the HP bar displays exactly 50.15% remaining, Ruination treats Samurott's current HP as if it was 50.15% its regular maximum. With no EV investment and 31 HP IVs, that maximum is normally 331 HP, so at 50.15% health it would have 166 HP, so Ruination does half that amount of HP (83) as damage.
This seems to be the case for all moves that deal direct damage. If for example a level 100 Dudunsparce with maximum HP EVs and IVs (454 HP max) is brought to 1 HP by Endure (or Focus Sash from full HP) and then it uses Endeavor, it would deal 453 damage to the Raid Pokémon. Encounters

Just saw that the chart showing the odds for the star rating of a Tera raid has incomplete data. Can we get that fixed please?

The "After Three Gym badges" column adds up to 90% right now, as does the "After Six Gym badges" column. And the "After ending credits" column adds up to 95%.

I can confirm that the chances of encounter a 1-star raid is NOT zero at the Six Gym badges point as I just fought one before starting my Seventh gym trial. Adrianfc2010 (talk) 00:57, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

NPC Pokemon

"The NPC Pokémon will have a level equal to 80% of the level of the host's Pokémon, rounded down (but not to less than 1). If the host's Pokémon is at level 1, the NPC Pokémon will be at level 80." What the heck does this sentence even mean...? Adrianfc2010 (talk) 17:30, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

It's pretty straightforward. An example: the player brings a level 100, the NPC will be level 80 (which is 80% of 100). Exceptionally, if the player brings a level 1, the NPC defaults to level 80 Pokémon. Williamgg (talk) 09:12, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Ah alrighty. Thanks for the clarification. Wouldn't it just be easier to say that the NPC Pokemon are always level 80? Unless I'm being an idiot and misunderstanding. Adrianfc2010 (talk) 16:47, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

They are not always level 80. If you brought a Pokemon that was level 50 for example, the NPCs would bring level 40 Pokemon, 80% of 50. From my understanding, it just has a special case to default to level 80 in the event you bring a level 1 Pokemon. Atrius97 (talk) 18:44, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Ah alrighty. Thanks for clarifying. Adrianfc2010 (talk) 21:21, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
