Missing Rest

More Statistics Please

For example, it says "Sleep lasts 1-7 turns," but it gives no information about the chances of waking up each of these turns. Hank (talk) 07:22, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

The phrase "a random number of turns" means that the Pokémon is just as likely to wake up on the third turn as any other turn. Statistically, each turn has a 1 in 7 chance of ending sleep. Yes… Why wouldn't it be? It's not like a multi-strike move that has different probabilities for the amount of strikes. In Gen VI, each turn has a 1 in 3 chance, and so on. —TheVeryBest 15:40, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Sleeping turns

UPC suggests a different number of turns asleep in Gen II-IV (here, for example). They're sometimes way off, though, so I'm currently not confident enough to replace our current values. Can somebody please verify or back up what they say, or be sure we're wrong or they're right:

  • Gen II: Sleep now lasts 2-7 turns (2-4 in Pokémon Stadium 2), including waking up turn
  • Gen III: still 2-7
  • Gen IV: still 2-7 turns, but 3-7 in Japanese DP Nescientist (talk) 21:57, 17 December 2016 (UTC)

I can't really verify everything for Gen II without detailed knowledge of the other variables/functions, but I guess you know what you're saying (especially when it matches what UPC says).
Other than that, I think I've updated everything correctly, and so it's easy to understand.
If you have a something that proves the Japanese DP count (and that it is different) that is not limited to Smogon members, please feel free to add it. The reference that was here was not public. Nescientist (talk) 12:12, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
I think it should be listed as 1-6 and 1-4, not 2-7 and 2-5, you have to account for the fact the Pokémon can attack on the same turn they wake up. --Froggy25 (talk) 15:21, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

I'm not sure whether we should list the duration of sleep or the actual turns of inability to attack, to be honest. If duration is fine with everyone, I guess it's fine. --Froggy25 (talk) 15:29, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
I just want it to be as clear as possible. And it just occured to me that it might actually make a difference with Instruct. (However, "its turns" and that it "can make a move on the turn it wakes up" might cover everything.) Nescientist (talk) 15:37, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
Related to this discussion, it's worth pointing out that in Gen III turns spent using Sleep Talk/Snore don't add to the sleep counter (source). Well, it's a bit more complicated than that, but that's the summarized version. --SnorlaxMonster 06:57, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

How to address the Drowsy status?

Seems like the Sleep status works differently in Legends: Arceus than previous games. I imagine the Drowsy status works like a hybrid of Infatuated and Asleep since the Pokémon has a chance to attack. Asking those who know how sleep-interacting moves work in this game (i.e. Wake-Up Slap, Dream Eater), what course of action should we take in covering Drowsy information? Can Sleep Talk call Metronome

If the user has only Sleep Talk and Metronome, and got put asleep by a sing from Delcatty for example, if it's sleeping and uses Sleep Talk and only has Metronome, can it call Metronome or fail automatically, regardless if the user is sleeping. TogekissFan4956 (talk) 20:06, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
