Could it be possible that Chobomaki and Kaburumo are based on the Western stories of "A Knight's Tale" from Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales" and possibly the Prince and the Pauper? Both tales are involve individuals from the medieval era who switch roles; This make more sense with "The Knight's Tale" in that a peasant dons the armor of a knight in order to join a jousting tournament, which seems similar to how Kaburumo takes up Chobomaki's "armor" and becomes the calvary pokemon Shubarugo. Any thoughts on if this seems relevant? --Oleandervine 01:03, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Not really since the armor was stolen....Ataro 01:06, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Armor

Are we sure that Shelmet gives its armor to Karrablast and then it (K) evolves into Escavalier and not just becoming vestigial? Basically, do we know if Shelmet is giving its armor or just 'hiding' it? No one on the corner got swagga like Mpcamel1729...modified from Paper Planes by M.I.A. 14:21, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Read Escavalier's Pokédex entry:
"These Pokémon evolve by wearing the shell covering of a Shelmet. The steel armor protects their whole body."

Scaly-foot gastropod (Chrysomallon squamiferum)

I know it's been a while, but just answering to Seridon's edit, and registering a point if anyone else finds the misinformation of it being a species discovered in 2015 and tries to edit it out because of that reason. While the majority of popular articles commenting about the Scaly-foot gastropod (Chrysomallon squamiferum) are from 2015, the species seems to have been discovered around 1999-2000 (sources vary; some also say 2003, but this might be when the creature was announced as new), which is way before Gen V's release.

Here is a scientific article written in 2005, and published in 2006, that talks about the creature in details. Just to prove the point.

Some people might also argue that a recently found species wouldn't be turned into a Pokémon so quickly, and I'd like to use Crabominable as a counterargument. The Yeti Crab was also discovered in 2005, and Gen VII was released in 2016, a similar time gap.

Well, that's it. In the end it is still just a possible origin for it, not taking it as granted or anything. I'd love to hear if anyone has any arguments against or supporting this theory even further.
