Silver Sandshrew

I remember playing Ruby and walking around near the top of the desert-area. I encountered a wild Sandshrew, but it was silver as if it was stuck in defense curl. It also showed the shiny twinkle animation when it entered battle. My friend, who also owns Ruby, claims to have also seen a wild silver sandshrew in the same place, as if it was a scripted encounter... Is there an explanation for this? Also note that at the time I did not know about shiny Pokemon or anything of the like so I ran away. Absolution 15:42, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Odd, especially seeing as shiny Sandshrew are light green rather than silver. Where exactly in the top of the desert area did this happen? If it really was programmed to be there, I'll probably be able to find it. If I can't find it, then it probably wasn't programmed, and you and your friend just happened to both find shiny Sandshrew there. Incidentially, are you sure it was silver and not light green? - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talkcontribs) 23:17, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

It was a few years ago, back before GenIV, and i'd thought it was a one-time visual glitch, but since my friend mentioned it in a conversation, I thought i'd bring it up here. It does, however, seem like if it was scripted more people would have noticed it, but I brought it up also because the chances of both of us encountering a shiny sandshrew at the same place is >1/16000. I'm pretty darn sure it was silver for me though. Absolution 16:41, 25 July 2010 (UTC) edit:I'll also ask my friend for more details. Absolution 16:43, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Italian name...?

Hi. I'm back (I know you all hate me still, but whatever...) and I seem to remember having a big fight about Greek names. Well, it was about how they don't have different names in Greek. So, after my leaving, a few months or so went by and I see "Italian name:Sandshrew" on this page. I checked others-Gulpin, Roselia... all had "Italian name", but they don't have original names. So, I started wondering-how can they put these here if they don't have original names, but I couldn't put Greek names? I wouldn't dream of putting Greek names anymore, but why Italian? Because of there is an Italian form of Bulbapedia? Because we have Italian speakers on here? I just want an answer. And, since I'm back, I can apologise for acting... difficult. Thanks in advance!--Sandshrew-san (talk) 04:16, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

It's a relatively recent change. Previously, Italian and Spanish names were not added due to being the same as English names. However, due to the fact that there were officially translated Italian and Spanish games, they were added back. You're free to add Greek names, as long as they're official (i.e. names that appear in the anime, manga, or any other officially translated media). --超龍Chao 11:39, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for responding so quickly! Now I understand; it has been confusing. As for Greek names, I really don't think I will add them, even if they do show up in some publication, on account of the fight I had a few years ago. Again, thank you for responding. I really appreciate it! Sandshrew-san (talk) 17:38, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

Route 32

According to Game locations, Sandshrew can be encountered on Route 32 in Gold, but according to Route 32's Pokémon, Sandshrew isn't found there in any game. --GuyPerfect (talk) 14:37, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Protecting the Pangolin

I do believe this is rather notable and belongs under Trivia. It's not just some random animal's new name, it was chosen by hundreds of people in a poll held by a major news organization as part of a wildlife conservation effort. More info here. --TheVeryBest 00:48, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Pangolin habitat

New here, so I don't really know the guidelines to things... but in the trivia section indicating that Sandshrew is based on the pangolin, which lives in desert habitats, does it matter that pangolins also live in other habitats? (Especially rainforests.) On the one hand, it's misleading; but on the other, this isn't an article on pangolins. I guess I'd like to know standard policy before I just start editing things all over the place that don't need to be and annoy people. Masternachos (talk) 01:54, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Thai name

Per User talk:ZEST TENORISTA#Thai Pokémon names, the Thai names on this page and Sandslash are unofficial and must be removed, but since the pages have been protected, I can't do it myself. Can a staff member help, please? Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 16:18, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

Done. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 16:26, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

Kanto Route 3 and 4

Under 'Game Locations', Sandshrew is listed as being found on Routes 3 and 4 in the game Pokemon Let's Go Eevee, but on those route pages Sandshrew is listed as not being found in that game, only in Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu. It is also listed as a game-exclusive Pokemon to Let's Go Pikachu. cutecatsrock (talk) 20:01, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

My apologies that was my error, it is now fixed. --Spriteit (talk) 00:04, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
