Edit Request

I would like to assist by editing a good chunk of this article in an attempt to drag it from the depths of stubs. The majority of the article is too brief and doesn't really go into enough detail about any of the information I would expect to see when searching it on the Wiki. Whereas the glossary may and probably does view bits of the information, it doesn't really touch on the anatomy of a Pokémon Card itself. The whole article itself generally needs expanding upon, and slightly less irrelevant, the picture needs fixing too.

Death to "Minor Attributes"! (Or, Manual of Style step 1: what are these unnamed card fields?)

Okay, so this article is overdue for a redo, but due to it's wide scope it definitionally has to be handled last. First things first: there are a heck of a lot of things hanging around this nebulously named "Minor Attributes" section, and these need to be properly defined. (I hate when section names pass themselves off as official, we should probably have a unknown name template for sections) Going digging for a bit, here's what I have:

  • TCG Live describes everything that is not a Stage or Type as being in the "Attribute" filter. An announcement just described Ancient and Future as "attributes". Notably, these treat Team Magma and Team Aqua as attributes, as well as being a Basic and a V simultaneously as a "Basic/V". Tera is rolled into ex as "Tera Pokémon ex" "TAG TEAM" is given an attribute listing, but TAG TEAM Pokémon are Pokémon GX so they are also in the "Pokémon GX" list. TAG TEAM also shows up in the "Attributes" that Trainer cards can be filtered by, as expected. I should note that I feel this means distinguishing things as being "minor" is made up and wrong. (It probably bears mentioning that Ability is one of the attributes cards can be filtered by, but regardless "attribute" seems fairly valid.)
  • Other variations on Owner's Pokemon do not have a filter, and neither do Dark Pokémon. This can be handwaved away by the fact there is one of each in the Expanded card pool, but it's something to keep in mind. (This might be cause to treat Owner's as more of an umbrella of terms rather than a true group in itself. Perhaps like Battle Style, which is coming up below this paragraph)
  • Single Strike and Rapid Strike have an umbrella term over them: This article terming them as being part of the "gameplay mechanic Battle Styles". The official site] follows this wording, adding the phrase "SPECIAL ENERGY CARDS SUPPORT EITHER BATTLE STYLE..." so we know it's not a one off. Fusion Strike's website rolls Fusion Strike into this as well "THE MOST RECENT EXPANSION INTRODUCES THE THIRD AND FINAL BATTLE STYLE: FUSION STRIKE" and "...while Deoxys harnesses the power of all three battle styles!" This article hyping up Battle Styles called them "variants" but also uses "gameplay mechanic".
  • The phrase "gameplay mechanic" crops up for ex and VSTAR in press releases too. Notably the Lost Zone is described as a "gameplay mechanic" in this press release, which may or may not disqualify it. (I say "gameplay mechanic" is still in the running, doubly so if we decide TCG Live doesn't count for anything)
  • The phrases "Type-shifted Tera Pokémon" and "Type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex" appear startlingly often, to the point I'm considering that a distinguishable group of Pokemon. Salmancer (talk) 15:07, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
