Japanese Blue

The Japanese Blue page mentions that the catch rates were adjusted between Red/Green and Blue--which I'm assuming means the rates we have now are the Blue ones, since the base of our Red/Blue games was the Japanese Blue. Does anyone have any data on catch rates for the first 151 in the original Red/Green? If so, shouldn't the differences be noted here? Zdododododo 01:56, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

If Red and Green have unique catch rates from the rest of the series, I think that shouldn't clutter this article but instead be compiled into a separate article, with its link on this article. --Pie ~ 02:28, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Missingno.

Should Missingno. be on this list? Being a glitch and all, it's catch rate dosn't really concern most people. - unsigned comment from PokemonTrainer7738 (talkcontribs)

No, because it's not a Pokémon. It's a glitch. TTEchidnaGSDS! 20:19, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
So, it can be removed? How do you find out the catch rate of a glitch anyway? -User:PokemonTrainer7738
Dunno. Who thinks arceus should have catch rate of 1? -OrigamiGuy Lieks Mudkipz 19:21, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
Good question, I dunno. I imagine that it's in the data, since Missingno. is filler, but I do think it ought to be removed. This is a list of Pokémon by catch rate, not a list of Pokémon and programming oversights that mimic them by catch rate. TTEchidna 19:56, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
If Arceus had a catch rate of 1 or 2, it'd be possible for Master Balls to fail on it, especially when its HP is full. Kyoukipichi 06:31, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Should Dialga have such a low catch rate, I caught mine with a Quick Ball. Deemack199725 04:39, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Uncatchable Pokemon

I'm curious what makes some Pokemon, such as the ghost Marowak from gen 1, unable to be caught. Do they have a catch rate of 0, or is there some other determining factor? Redstar 03:10, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

If they had a catch rate of 0, the ball would simply never shake. Instead, they dodge the ball completely, indicating that there is some other factor. Blueapple128 15:19, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
The Marowak ghost is treated as if it's a trainer's Pokémon. They probably use the same coding, seeing as you cannot catch it nor Pokémon belonging to other trainers. This logic makes sense to me, so I'll stick to it. KurosakisTwin 09:08, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Fully Evolved Catch Rate

Okay, in the Trivia Section it says Watchog is the only fully evolved Pokemon with a catch rate of 255. But, wouldn't you count Maractus and all those who are not able to evolve from or into a Pokemon, as fully evolved?TurtleLover1999 (talk) 09:55, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

Kalos Pokémon with the same catch rate

I checked Serebii that there are Kalos Pokémon with the same catch rate (like Bunnelby's evolved form Diggersby has a catch rate of 255) so we need to check its catch rate on each Kalos Pokémon's pages so are they confirmed? --Cinday123 (Talk) 03:35, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Yeah that doesn't seem right at all. A lot of the Bulbapedia pages say "0" for catch rate as well. So it looks like it's all very unfinished. How would one go about determining these? I don't suppose there's an official guide or somewhere I can copy them from, is there? -- MicManGuy (talk) 14:34, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
So we need to wait until the official Pokémon website reveals catch rates for them so we don't know their catch rates yet. --Cinday123 (Talk) 04:31, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

ORAS catch rates

According to serebii, Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza have different catch rates in ORAS. Kyogre's and Groudon's changed to 3, and Rayquaza changed to 45. If this is true, I fell it needs to be noted in the tables. Zombiedude347 (talk) 15:37, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

We don't take information from Serebii generally because it is known that Serebii is known for errors so it's not really a site that we can trust wholly. Although I know that I'm pretty sure, however, that Serebii received the catch rates from a ORAS demo data dump from Smogon by a user named Kaphotics, so maybe we could consider this an isolated incident. Regardless, the policy here as far as I know is that unless something comes from either an official or trustable Pokemon website (such as Veekun or PLDH), we cannot use that information, so we'll have to wait for official confirmation.AmourShipper (talk) 16:30, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
So we don't use info taken directly from the game just because a supposed "rival" site happens to use the same source? That's rather petty. Frugali (talk) 01:15, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
No...it's because Serebii (the site owner) takes strong exception to people who copy from Serebii.net. Never take anything from Serebii (certainly for use here). Find it elsewhere. And as far as that goes, the publicly released dumped data should be a fine source. Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:23, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

Changed catch rates

The original variants of the changed catch rates of ORAS should be listed here and on the individual pages of Pokémon. Preferably we would have two different columns for them instead of an mouseover text. Trainer Yusuf (talk) 00:12, 16 May 2016 (UTC)

Table doesn't sort correctly

The table is a list of catch rates sorted by dex number, but it is not a list of pokemon sorted by catch rate. Trying to sort the table by catch rate does not provide the intended functionality. It seems to sort the numbers as if they were a string instead of sequentially. Anyone know how to correct the functionality? Each catch value is assigned 'class = "r"' but I don't know what this means. Sunmarsh (talk) 16:13, 22 October 2019 (UTC)

You can set the column sorting to be numerical, which is what I just did to provide that functionality. class="r" just right-aligns the text in a cell. Nescientist (talk) 19:23, 22 October 2019 (UTC)

Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness

So apparently, some Pokémon in Pokémon Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness got different Catch Rates to better adequate the Game's level curve. These are as follow:

Guaranteed Captures:

Makuhita Teddiursa

The game skips calculations for them, instead going straight for a successful capture outcome.

Colosseum:

Bayleef - 180 Quilava - 180 Croconaw - 180 Mantine - 90 Misdreavus - 90 Togetic - 45 Tropius - 45 Entei - 15 Raikou - 15 Suicune - 15 Skarmory - 15 Metagross - 15 Tyranitar - 10

XD Gale of Darkness:

Houndour - 225 Delcatty - 120 Golduck - 120 Magcargo - 120 Mawile - 120 Venomoth - 120 Magneton - 110 Marowak - 110 Rapidash - 110 Starmie - 110 Dugtrio - 100 Lunatone - 100 Rhydon - 100 Banette - 90 Beedrill - 90 Butterfree - 90 Dodrio - 90 Electabuzz - 90 Hitmonchan - 90 Hitmonlee - 90 Kangaskhan - 90 Lickitung - 90 Magmar - 90 Mr. Mime - 90 Pinsir - 90 Poliwrath - 90 Sableye - 90 Scyther - 90 Solrock - 90 Swellow - 90 Tangela - 90 Altaria - 80 Exeggutor - 80 Farfetch'd - 80 Hypno - 80 Lapras - 80 Manectric - 80 Primeape - 80 Salamence - 80 Tauros - 80 Chansey - 70 Snorlax - 70 Articuno - 25 Zapdos - 25 Moltres - 25

This information is found on Cave of Dragonflies, which tends to be pretty consistent with catch rates, and has been discussed among many Pokémon experts. Should it perhaps be included in the page? Gelius (talk) 14:47, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

Legends Arceus

There should be a separate list for Legends Arceus catch rates, since those are rarely ever the same. PinkYoshiGaming (talk) 02:13, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
