Wouldn't it be better to have a list of all of the moves that are affected by this ability? Tesh 17:38, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

It would seem kinda obvious, but I suppose a list couldn't hurt. I'd just assume it's anything that has "punch", DynamicPunch, Mega Punch, Comet Punch... TTEchidna 23:14, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

It's just that when your trying to view Pokemon abilities then its annoying having to switch between pages...Tesh 21:18, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Open the pages in new windows/tabs in your browser.
I just added the list. If it were needed, I'd suggest creating a category, too. --Johans 21:32, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
I was thinking of making a category myself... --DarkfireTaimatsu 21:33, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Does Focus Punch count? TinaTheKirlia 22:11, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
It should. TTEchidna 19:02, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Thank you all. Tesh 18:28, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

A dispute about the numbers

Bulbapedia says this ability boosts power by 30%. But serebii.net (the other resource I go to) says it's 20%. Is there a way someone can find out which one is right? ~Toastypk - Talk 03:15, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Hmmm... Lets test this. TESHTALKFUN 14:45, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

I've looked at other sites and they all seem to say that there is a 20% increase. TESHTALKFUN 15:01, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Is there an investigation committee of sorts? I wouldn't know where else to look, and I'd have no idea how to test it myself. ~Toastypk - Talk 20:32, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
It's 20%. Changing. Tina δ 20:37, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Drain Punch?

Shouldn't this be in the list? --ZellMurasame 21:20, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

It is now. TESHIGIGAS 13:51, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

DynamicPunch and Shadow Punch

Shouldn't DynamicPunch be in the list too? It is obtainable only via trading from Emerald, but it is a punching move. And what about Shadow Punch? What if Iron Fist is SkillSwapped to a Pokémon with Shadow Punch, like Gengar? Piotr mil 18:34, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Why aren't these added in the list??? It should be...--Wowy 08:26, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Well, they have to be confirmed. Sucker Punch, for example, is probably not a real punch because it can be learned by, say, Skitty. Some things might have been lost in translation. --Raijinili 12:22, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Others?

What about poison jab? is that one?Happizelpom 20:57, 28 June 2008 (UTC)Happizelpom

Nope. I think that involves jabbing (i.e. Your hands are not pulled into a fist), not punching which involves fists. Just look at the pedo's Croagunk...Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links13:32 14 Aug 2008

Testing moves

Doing these tests on a Lv 50 wild Shuckle.. Also testing the Mystery Dungeon moves.

  • DynamicPunch - Damage increased
  • Shadow Punch - No change
  • Dizzy Punch - Damage increased
  • Meteor Mash - No Change
  • Hammer Arm - No Change

In conclusion, there's two moves which this list lacks at least. I didn't test Poison Jab for the above. Gywall(Talk) 11:43, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Just tested Strength and Rock Smash which are described as punches in description. Both are incompatible. Gywall(Talk) 18:15, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Interesting. Hitmonchan hasn't been able to have Dizzy Punch legally since Crystal. Hint hint. TTEchidna 00:19, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

I just tested all 5 moves and it increaced damage for all 5 in Diamond. http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1683259&postcount=484 I am RB Golbat on smogon and i make sure to put all my info when i test so others can replicate it. If there are any questions, please ask, cause i will be watching this page since some might doubt it. The Placebo Effect 16:45, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

Another Test

No one can answer me on this, but would Needle Arm also increase? It's practically the Grass version of the punching moves, with a slightly weaker power. However, the animation has a fist, same as every other punching move, so I'm wondering if this too would increase. Thanks. (Cornwiggle 23:17, 9 August 2010 (UTC))

Can anyone answer me on this? I'm quite sure you missed Needle Arm. It's a PUNCH, and you have everything else besides it, even moves that Hitmonchan CAN'T learn. Why can't you include it too?--Cornwiggle 19:41, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Cornwiggle. I don't think the move has been tested yet, so we can't include it until we're sure. —darklordtrom 06:53, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Chart

Same deal here as with Reckless. I noticed how cool the chart on Skill Link's page was, and was wondering if the information on which Pokémon with Iron Fist can learn each modified move could be integrated into the chart on this page. --AndyPKMN (talk) 12:01, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Sounds like a nice idea. I'll put it in. - Saethori 12:03, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Double Iron Bash

This is probably a reach, but is Double Iron Bash boosted by Iron Fist? Melmetal has the ability according to Let's Go's data. I have doubts since it's Double Panzer in Japanese, but a lot of my friends have been asking. Is there any way to test this or come to a conclusion? --Pichu Madman26 (talk) 09:54, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

The coding mentions it's boosted. That's pretty much as far as we can go. Lanthanum (talk) 10:12, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Punching Gloves Interaction

So this page currently states that its effects are negated by Punching Gloves, but that goes against what this smogon user tested in game: https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/scarlet-violet-battle-mechanics-research.3709545/post-9409193

I just wanted to see if there was any video of this being tested in-game to confirm either way. New to bulbapedia, sorry if I did anything wrong.

(I also posted this in the #bulbapedia channel in the discord.)
