Should we mention that Corphish and Barboach are the only pokemon that doesn't relate to reptilian or dragon that can learn dragon dance? But in my opinoin for Corphish. In Thailand lobster was called kungmunggon which can be translate as dragon shrimp. jomphol 11:49, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Breeding

Bred Dragon Dance onto Lapras (using Seadra) for Gen VI. How do I add that to the breeding table? Frozen Fennec 21:05, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Breeding moves

Correct me if I'm wrong, but whenever a Pokémon is bred and its father (and I'd assume mother in this newest generation) knows a move that the baby can learn whilst levelling up, the baby will always learn the move. As I understand it, this is always the case. As such I'd like to call into question why my edit here was undone. I removed it because it's redundant; if we're including Dratini, Dragonair, Dragonite in the Dratini fathers' list, then why not Bagon, Shelgon, Salamence in Bagon's list, or Tropius in Tropius'?

I figure the confusion's probably based on the fact that the move had to be bred onto the Pokémon in Gen III, and since that generation (when it learns it levelling up anyway), people have just been looking to fill in the gap. Realistically I don't think the spaces for any generation past III need to be filled out at all considering it's a move the creature learns by experience. Concurrent (talk) 22:31, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

Pokémon breeding#Passing moves down: "If both parents know a move that the baby can learn via leveling up, the Pokémon will inherit that move."
Not "whenever a Pokémon is bred and its father knows a move that the baby can learn whilst levelling up, the baby will always learn the move". You seem to be confusing that with Egg moves, which only one parent must know (the term "Egg move" gets used with some variability, but the unique application (and the one I mean here) is for these moves that only one parent must know).
While some level-up moves are that and that alone, and will always require two parents to know it for an Egg to inherit the move, it is possible for a move to be both a level-up move and an Egg move. For these, then, only one parent would actually need to know the move for it to be inherited.
I'm not entirely sure if that clears up any confusion, but there you go. Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:10, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
I haven't bred Pokémon in a while and either I never knew this or completely forgot. Thanks for the clarification in either case! So, sorry to bother, but just to make sure I've got this right:
Two Dragonites breeding (each knowing Dragon Dance and Dragon Tail) would result in a Dratini that knows both moves, because both parents know the moves by level. Two Dragonites breeding (one knowing Dragon Dance and Dragon Tail and the other only knowing Dragon Dance) would result in a Dratini that knows Dragon Dance but not Dragon Tail (I'm assuming Dragon Tail isn't an Egg move for this), because both parents didn't know Dragon Tail, which is a move it learns by level. Two Dragonites breeding (one knowing Dragon Dance and Dragon Tail and the other only knowing Dragon Tail) would result in a Dratini that knows both moves because Dragon Tail is a move to learn by level, and Dragon Dance is also an Egg move?
Is that about right? Sorry and thanks again. ~Concurrent (talk) 00:00, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, that looks right. For Gen VI anyway. In earlier games, Egg moves can only be passed from the father, so you'd have to make sure those moves are on the right parents to work the same. Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:36, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
Excellent, thanks a bundle for clearing that up for me! ~Concurrent (talk) 00:58, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
