Given the changes in Gen 9, the fact they have the same attack power and that both can inflict one of three Status conditions, would this move be classified as a variant of Tri-Attack? Guybrush20X6 (talk) 11:58, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'd say no. Despite having the same BP and being 5 PP apart, they do have key differences. The actual probability they have of inflicting a status effect is extremely different, Dire Claw having a 50% chance to do so, while Tri Attack has a mere 20% chance, and more importantly, Dire Claw has a high critical hit ratio while Tri Attack does not. That said, admittedly there are moves classified as variations here that have different probabilities of inducing a secondary effect, but I do feel Dire Claw's increased critical hit ratio on the other hand is still worth discussing because I feel that might make a key difference. - Yeah, we need to get some more opinions in on this. In any case, it'll at least be a category or trivia point that both can cause multiple different status conditions. Guybrush20X6 (talk) 14:40, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
