Early Years and Earthbound Influence

I don't know where else to put this, so here goes. tl;dr post ahead.

A long time ago, someone else said that there was an article stating that Earthbound influenced the Pokemon series. Now, I did some poking around, and found that Creatures, Inc. came from Ape, Inc., the company that worked on the first two Earthbound games. As a result, a number of people that worked on Red and Green also worked on the first two Earthbound games:

Hiroshi Yamauchi: Executive Producer of EarthBound Zero and Pokemon

Hiroyuki Jinnai: Scenario Writer for EarthBound and Pokemon

Tsunekaz Ishihara: Pokemon Producer; Special Effects Artist and Line Producer for EarthBound

Hirokazu Tanaka: Music Composer of EarthBound Zero, EarthBound, and Pokemon

Takashi Kawaguchi: Pokemon Debugger, Co-Ordinate for EarthBound Zero, Project Manager for EarthBound

This seems to explain a number of coincidences between the games (e.g. the VERY strong similarities between Mewtwo and Giygas/Giegue, similar appearances of Red and Ninten/Ness, the similar roles and personalities of next-door neighbors Blue and Pokey, the fact that Earthbound and Red/Blue seem to take place in the late 90s, the similarities between the Safari Zone and Ruined Zoo, which also explains why there's a useless Warden building in the center, etc.) Basically, I want to know if this is just a weird coincidence, or if there actually WAS influence. Coverage of Non-Pokemon Works

So, as we know, the Pokemon brand is owned by three companies, Game Freak, Creatures, and the Big N. Of these three, Game Freak's page has dedicated sections for all of their non-Pokemon projects, including empty ones that no one has gotten around to filling out yet. (There are sections for the Pokémon ones too, but I guess people put that on other pages instead of on Game Freak's.) I propose that the same coverage extension be granted to Creatures' non-Pokemon works. This is outside the notability policy, but that only applies to full articles and Creatures' role in Pokemon should be considered comparable to Game Freak's. Notably, this does not intend to extend the same grace to Nintendo, because if we did that we'd be chasing plumbers and mushrooms for the rest of eternity. Creatures' page here says there's only six games to cover! That's fewer games than Game Freak! It can be done! Salmancer (talk) 08:45, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
