The Case for Redondo

Here are all the reasons why I believe the town of Redondo should be mentioned in the Name Origin table:

  • The location: both Redondo and Cortondo share the same relative location in the peninsula, as can be seen on this map.
  • The name: the word "redondo", meaning round, is even already being mentioned as an origin, with Córdoba being the possible town origin. But then, why isn't the town called Cordondo, which would make a reference to both "Córdoba" and "redondo" as in round? If we assume the names come from a real location + a kitchen-related word, then "cortador de galletas" gives the town the "Cort" part, not Córdoba. Is there any other town whose name just so happens to be a perfect analogy to the Japanese name of Cercle, would make the word Cortondo when fused with "cortador", and is even located in this exact place in real life? Yes, Redondo!
  • Both Redondo and Cortondo are towns surrounded by the same hilly landscape of olive groves, as can seen here.
  • The argument of obscurity is shaky when we consider that Porto Marinada is indisputably based on Costa Nova do Prado, which doesn't even have an English Wikipedia page yet.

In conclusion: the name matches, the location matches, the surrounding area matches. This is much more than we have for other locations.

Note that I'm not claiming that Cortondo is not based in Córdoba whatsoever. The architecture seems to be based on these buildings from Córdoba. I'm just pointing out there's a lot hinting at the town of Redondo as well. - KryptonLion (talk) 17:00, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
