After being chased by a small group of {{p|Slugma}} in a cave and tumbling down a hill, {{Ash}} and {{Ashfr|friends}} met Julie after spotting one of her {{p|Numel}}. After introducing themselves, {{an|May}} decided to battle Julie with her newly-captured {{TP|May|Skitty}} so it could gain experience. During the battle, May learned about the move {{m|Assist}}, which allows a Pokémon to use a random attack from a party Pokémon. One of her normal was as dopey as a {{p|Slowpoke}}. Jessie, James and Meowth captured all the Numel, saying that it can warmed Giovanni. However, they failed to capture the dopey Numel. The Numel battled Team Rocket, during the battle, the dopey Numel evolved into a strong and fast {{p|Camerupt}}. The group managed to save the Numel with the help of the Camerupt.

The next day, Julie showed them the way to [[Mt. Chimney]], where they continued their journey.
