After attending the Academy's opening ceremony for the annual "Treasure Hunt," he finds the player and Nemona in the center of [[Mesagoza]], below the steps to the Academy, conversing about [[Pokémon Gym]]s. He scolds Nemona for suggesting that the player would attempt to reach [[Champion]] Rank instead of assisting him in acquiring the Herba Mystica, much to her surprise and disapproval. When the player receives a sudden call from the mysterious character [[Cassiopeia]] regarding disbanding Team Star through defeating the bosses, he once again criticizes the idea, but is surprised when the stranger mentions him by name. After Nemona assures the player that they are free to follow whichever path they choose, Arven almost reveals his true intentions in his quest, but quickly changes the subject, mentioning how he plans to create the world's greatest sandwiches with the Herba Mystica. At this mention of sandwiches, Koraidon{{sup/9|S}}/Miraidon{{sup/9|V}} exits their [[Poké Ball]], angering Arven. The player mounts the Legendary, and he tells them that the best start on their search for the Titans will be past the east gate of the city. Afterwards, he leaves in frustration when Nemona recommends the opposite west gate for the path towards the Gyms, informing the player that he will see them soon.

===The Way Home===

Joined by Nemona and Penny, Arven and the player make their way to [[Area Zero]] at the Great Crater of Paldea, following the professor's request, and are tasked with visiting four research stations to unlock the door to the professor's laboratory at the bottom. Arven initially butts heads with Penny, jealous of her and Nemona's friendship with the player, but later opens up about his lonely past to them, with him and Penny exchanging apologies and becoming friends. The further the group descends into Area Zero, the more they begin to encounter peculiar Pokémon, with similarities to those of the present day but with primeval{{sup/9|S}}/mechanical{{sup/9|V}} qualities. Professor Sada{{sup/9|S}}/Turo{{sup/9|V}} reveals them to be Pokémon successfully summoned from a time machine they built in the Area Zero Depths. Arven attempts to ask the professor why they were called to Area Zero, but they become hesitant and request that they wait until they are face-to-face for a proper explanation. Seeing how the professor addresses the player as the one they hope to fix things, Arven hands them the copy of the Scarlet{{sup/9|S}}/Violet{{sup/9|V}} Book.

The player's group eventually reaches the Zero Lab, where the Professor warns them of the Paradox Pokémon within that may try to escape. Concerned about the battle ahead, Arven suggests the player bring out Koraidon{{sup/9|S}}/Miraidon{{sup/9|V}} to assist them, remembering its strength and theorizing that being in Area Zero may coerce it out of its timid nature. The group and Koraidon{{sup/9|S}}/Miraidon{{sup/9|V}} watch as the door to the Zero Lab opens, only to be briefly confronted by the second Koraidon{{sup/9|S}}/Miraidon{{sup/9|V}}, whose aggressive disposition nearly initiates a battle before it sees the open Zero Lab and ventures inside. Arven and the others only have a brief moment to calm down before they are ambushed by the Paradox Pokémon escaping from the Zero Lab entrance. Arven assists the player in fighting a {{p|Flutter Mane}}{{sup/9|S}}/{{p|Iron Jugulis}}{{sup/9|V}} before telling the player to take their dragon and go on ahead into the Zero Lab. He also gives Koraidon{{sup/9|S}}/Miraidon{{sup/9|V}} a pep talk, encouraging it to stand up to its aggressive brethren before turning his attention to the remaining {{p|Brute Bonnet}}{{sup/9|S}}/{{p|Iron Hands}}{{sup/9|V}}.
