Dawn's Piplup: Difference between revisions

In ''[[DP106|A Breed Stampede!]]'', Piplup was shown to be quite adamant and overconfident. He even tried to stop {{TP|Dawn|Piloswine}} from charging. However, each attempt resulted in him being launched into the sky and knocked out. Despite this, he would get straight back up on his feet even when completely knocked out. He tried again when {{p|Piloswine}} had already evolved into {{p|Mamoswine}}, but the result was the same. Despite this, Piplup does commonly try to peacefully talk to enemies, rather than just attacking them, as seen in ''[[DP087|The Psyduck Stops Here!]]''.

It has been shown that Dawn and Piplup have a [[Friendship|close bond]] with each other. In ''[[DP077|Staging a Heroes' Welcome!]]'', he helped Dawn recover her confidence by shooting {{m|Bubble Beam}} at her face. Two episodes later, in ''[[DP079|Strategy with a Smile!]]'', he barely edged out [[May's Glaceon]] by only half a point to help Dawn win the {{DL|Ribbon|Aqua Ribbon}}. Piplup's close bond with Dawn is one of the main reasons he refused to [[evolve]] in ''[[DP122|Stopped in the Name of Love!]]'', along with also wanting to become stronger as a Piplup. Also, in the same episode, Dawn was given an [[Everstone]] by the [[Sandalstraw Town]]'s [[Nurse Joy]] so Piplup won’t ever have to evolve, as he was using {{m|Bide}} to prevent his evolution. In addition, Piplup is very protective of Dawn, as he would put her safety first before his own, even if it meant battling a Pokémon that was bigger or stronger then him in order to keep her safe from danger.  

Piplup has a close relationship with [[Ash's Pikachu]], as they are often seen hanging out together. Throughout their time traveling together, Piplup would spar against Pikachu as part of their training, even though what they do is different because the Mouse Pokémon focuses in battling Gyms while the latter focuses on showing off his moves in Pokémon contests. Despite this, Piplup and Pikachu seem to take inspiration from each other, which has help them in their goals for their Trainers. However, when it was time to part ways with Pikachu in ''[[DP191|Memories are Made of Bliss!]]'', Piplup was upset in being separated from him, but cheered up with the help of his friends.

When [[Dawn's Cyndaquil]] joined the group and it was unresponsive to him when he tried to befriend it, Piplup developed a rivalry with the Fire Mouse Pokémon and spent a lot of time fighting. Piplup also gets jealous of the attention Cyndaquil gets from Dawn, as shown in ''[[DP144|Gone With the Windworks!]]'', when he got upset that his Trainer and friends were praising Cyndaquil in its effort in its first battle, even taking a [[Poffin]] that the Fire Mouse Pokémon was going to receive as a reward for its hard work. This was shown again in ''[[DP146|Dressed for Jess Success!]]'', when Piplup got upset that Dawn was comforting Cyndaquil when it attempted to show their Trainer that it wanted to be in [[Lilypad Town]] Pokémon Contest. However, Piplup's rivalry with Cyndaquil have stopped after it evolved into Quilava.
