Transferring from Generation V and transferring from the Virtual Console uses different filter lists (each blocks some words the other allows). In particular, almost all words in kana are allowed when transferring from the Japanese Virtual Console games.

If a Pokémon's original Trainer contains a prohibited word, the original Trainer will be replaced by a generic name, and Poké Transporter will also inform the user. The generic name depends on the Pokemon's language of origin and the transferring game. (As a result, the Chinese OTs exist in the data of Poké Transporter but are not actually used.)
