The next day, during Ava's winning streak, Edgar watched her championship progress from afar. Eventually, they both reached the finals, and while getting to know each other, Edgar took the opportunity to tease Ava and her deck.
When the match started, Edgar give up from playing the first round, thus giving his rival the first victory. In the second round, Edgar managed to beat Ava using a combo with {{TCG|Passimian}} and {{TCG|Machop}}. In the third and final round, Edgar intentionally let Ava look like she was winning to counter with an {{TCG ID|Paldea Evolved|Iono|185}} card, forcing Ava to shuffle her entire hand into the deck again and thus manage to KO all active and benched Pokémon with just his {{TCG|Lucario}}. After the victory, he greeted a heartbroken Ava, and became the winner of the championship.

In the finals, Edgar repeats the strategy of giving his opponent a victory in the first round, in the second he starts dominating the battle as soon as he manages to summon his {{TCG|Falinks}} card to the field, and thus defeats Ava in the second round. In the third round, Edgar managed to put a {{TCG|Groudon}} as his active Pokémon, while his rival only put {{tcg|Oddish}} on the field. Initially showing insecurity again, Ava skipped two shifts and after she changed her posture, Edgar then became irritated with Ava after she calmed down. When questioning Ava about her motivations, Ava presented her move and finally managed to reverse Troy's strategy. Leaving Edgar unsure how to handle it, Ava reassured him and told him to have fun with the match. When the two players began to be on equal levels, Edgar began to have fun and although he tried to use his strategies until the end, he was defeated by Ava in a difficult match, and after the victory he congratulated Ava and said he had fun too.
