The Split-Decision Ruins appeared in JN113 as the site of the final Project Mew Trial Mission. After Quillon had used Regirock, Regice, and Registeel to unlock the door, Goh and Gary entered the ruins to Caught Regieleki and Regidrago. Before they could solve the floor puzzle, however, they were ambushed by Lyla and Sterling, who challenged them to a Tag Battle. With their teamwork, Goh and Gary quickly beat them and finished solving the puzzle, making Regieleki and Regidrago appear. While the two Legendary Pokémon initially overpowered the two, they made a comeback with Lyla and Sterling's help, successfully weakening Regieleki and Regidrago enough for them to be caught, allowing Goh and Gary to clear the mission and secure the latter a Chaser position in the research team.

In the anime, the ruins contain two statues and sets of floor panels, instead of one, like in the games. Usually, only one set of panels can be lit up at a time, but if both sets are stepped on simultaneously, they can both be lighted up, making it possible to awaken both Legendary Pokémon.
