:::@Hikaru: I agree that Trace would be a possible way (the only way, in my opinion) of Lance potentially losing his title, but I honestly find it unlikely that Trace exists in the anime at all (and I kinda doubt that the Elite Four line was a reference to the Let's Go games). I don't expect for Trace to be in the Masters Eight either (Lance is basically guaranteed). ::::I support Hikaru's opinion in that Lance being an Elite Four member would be a reference to the fact that his latest gane appearance featured him as one. Which is why I believe him being stated to be one in the anime sounds believable.
